Shane
Shane exited the building, walking down the streets in the cold and eventually coming to his destination. He entered the school through a lot of begging and convincing with the security, but finally managed to prove he wasn't some imposter. He figured he would get in trouble for leaving without any good reason, but at this point he was so used to it he didn't really care.

She slid down the stair railing and exited the building. She stopped for a couple seconds, watching a girl and her father walk past talking and laughing. Watched a brother and sister play catch at the park. Watched an elderly couple walk past holding hands. She then continued on her way, walking the twenty miles to her house. She paused along the gravel road to pick up a rock and hurl it into the quiet pond on her left. She watched the stone shatter the still, glass like surface. She continued to walk on as it sank into the murky water. She reached her place after two more miles, and opened the gate, shutting it behind her. She walked into the house, dropping her hat on its hook. She wandered into the kitchen, boots leaving marks in the dust on the floor. She opened the fridge, stared at the contents for a minute, then closed it and went back outside. She’d feed the others first. She went into the stables, pitched hay, refilled waters, then mucked out stalls before exiting and doing the same in the pastures. She went into the dog kennels, fed and watered everyone, then headed to the cat kennels, doing the same there.

Reagan
He dipped his head in response to Rodger, exiting the building after the others. He hopped onto his bike once he was outside, peddling so fast that his legs started to hurt in order to burn off some of his nervous energy. He eventually reached his house, leaning his bike against the wall near the front door before grabbing the key from under the welcome mat and unlocking the door. He kicked his shoes off once inside, tossing his backpack onto an unused wooden chair before silently slinking into his bedroom.

Mari
Mari waited outside for the van to come pick her up. It came about fifteen minutes later. Mari climbed in, sliding in next to her triplets. "How was it?" Mari shrugged. "Very serious bunch. Shane's a bit shy and the rest are very... to the point. It'll work out. They're all quite introverted."

Shane
Shane grabbed his keys from his back pocket, fumbling with them in his hand before he found the right key to his room. He inserted the key, looking around the hall carefully for a minute, before slipping inside and shutting the door behind him. He glanced up just in time to see a grayish-brown ball of fluff scuttle under his bed, which he found amusing enough. Shane threw his backpack on his bed, muttering something in French, then went over to the cat's food and water bowls to make sure they were filled. Soon enough, the small Norwegian Forest cat came out from under the bed, jumping onto it and curling up against the backpack. Shane smiled at the cat (which he named Teddy), and re-filled the cat's water.

She entered the walkway around the large orca aquarium, which hosted a pod of six orcas. She had rescued them from a marine park being shut down, and since they weren’t able to be released she would care for them til they passed on. She scooped several large, live fish from the separate tank. She carried them over to the orcas tank and released the ten fish into the enclosure, then watched the orcas go after them.

Mari
They parked in the driveway of the condo her family was staying at- until tomorrow, when the rest of the Holts would leave for their Kansas homestead- and the gaggle of redheads filed out of the van. Mari immediately moved to help her mother with dinner, a chore that took at least three.

Shane
Once Shane was done with his cats' needs, he grabbed his keys again, then headed out of his room and down towards the caffeteria. He was pretty hungry- he hadn't eaten really anything for almost four hours, and he was beginning to feel a bit famished. Once he had gotten to the old caffeteria (it was in desperate need of a remodel), he looked around quietly. Much to his dismay, there wasn't anyone there- apparently it had closed down early. Shane sighed and walked over to a vending machine, digging out some cash from his pockets and buying two small bags of chips and a water. After grabbing the chex mix and water, he sat down at one of the tables, propping his feet on top of the table surface and opening the small bag quietly.

Quinn
His sister was already asleep. A half-eaten slice of pizza sat on a paper plate in her lap. He quietly scooped it up and tossed it in the trash. Quinn finished cleaning up the remnants of their meal. Rosie never used to get so tired, but the cancer had changed that. She was a good sport, and a fighter too, and for that he was thankful. Her excitement and spunk over the meal hadn't been dampened by news of another round of chemo. She had probably already suspected it was coming up. Quinn hated staying the night in the hospital, but he did it several times a week for her sake. The doctor Quinn had talked to was a kind man, and didn't question where Quinn got the money or where his parents were. Quinn kicked back in the arm chair next to Rosalynn's bed. He lowered the bed so she was laying down flat. Her arms clutched the new stuffed toy to her chest and a small smile was on her face. He would not be giving up on her, and she wouldn't be giving up on herself, either. He would make sure of that. She would survive this. He would have to buy her another bandanna tomorrow. She'd been begging him for one with a bright color and a paw print pattern. She weared them over her head to cover the missing hair. Currently she was wearing one of her favorites, a sunny yellow one with swirls. Quinn closed his eyes. He needed to sleep, despite never truly being able to relax in such a large, public building full of noise and people. A building of sickness and masks for your mouth and hand sanitizer.

After everyone was in bed, Mari collapsed into an armchair in the living room, tuggedba blanket over herself, and promptly fell into a deep sleep. It had been a long day.

Reagan
He woke up, brushing his hair of of his face groggily so that he could gaze at his messy surroundings. Despite looking like a junkyard, Reagan's room did in fact have a sort of order to it, though he was the only one who really knew that.

Quinn
He woke and stared up at the pristine white ceiling. Sitting up, Quinn's eyes drifted to his still-asleep sister. His laptop was at home, so he would have to go there. He scrawled on a sticky note and stuck it onto her pillow, where she usually looked for his notes in the mornings. He looked at her a moment, then sighed and turned away. He had a busy day today. Quinn was out of the hospital in record time. He really didn't like that place. He set his feet toward his house and started off.

Shane
Shane had fallen asleep in the caffeteria, but fortunately woke up before anyone could notice. Unfortunately, he had woken up because of an exploding sound. Once he had been pulled out if his sleep completely (which didn't take long, considering his heart was beating faster than the speed of light), he looked around curiously, half-panting from the shock the booming had given him. Grave silence gloomed over everything, as if death itself had decided to take a stroll in the room with Shane. Even if it was in the dead of night, Shane could normally feel the presence of life, and the quiet humming noises that came from the electricity running through the building, but now it was silenced. It had seemed to him life had ceased to exist. A shrill, piercing cackle ran through the floor and up Shanes' spine- a laugh he had heard many times in his dreams, but never in reality. Shane closed his eyes, gritting his teeth in hopes he could stop his jaw from trembling. His mind filled with visions- visions that had come true, yet he still was powerless to change those fates. They seemed so real- why hadn't he headed the warnings sooner? He felt himself trembling harder, his brain slipping into a panic as the visions played on. A low, harsh, but not loud, voice rang in his head. Did you really believe you could hide from me, child? I come for you- maybe you'd be wise to separate yourself, for they would have the same destiny as your soul should you be willing to befriend them...
Shane woke up as he fell out of his chair with a startled yelp. He sat on the ground for a moment, realizing he was finally awake, then stood up. Leaning against the table for support, he took a deep breath and repeated a few words in his brain- maybe that would calm him down for once. After he was convinced he was relaxed enough, he exited the caffeteria and rushed up to his room, silently entering and going to his worn-out dresser to find some clothes. He could only do laundry once every two weeks, that is, unless he found the money to go to a laundro-mat. Any spare change he had he put to that, but for a while his change had been taken away from him constantly, and he had finally come to a place where he had too few clothing products, and too much time before he could wash the rest. Shane sighed and grabbed the only clothes he knew were at least somewhat clean, then went into the bathroom and took a shower.

Mari
The concrete was cold, and it didn't help that Mari wasn't wearing any shoes or socks. She hugged her parents, who were not so happy about leaving her in Alaska. "I'll be fine, and I'll call at least once a day." Her father smiled. "We love you, butterfly. Stay safe." Mari felt a tug on her sleeve and turned to little Nathan, Owen, and Joseph. "Come home, please?" Their puppy eyes almost made her want to jump in the van with them, but she couldn't. "I'll miss you too," she said, pulling them into a hug, "but I have a job for you." Bending down, she whispered to them, "when you get home, hide Fred's shoes on top of the cabinets for me, okay?" The little boys nodded enthusiastically, and Mari gave them one more hug before sending them off into the van. Mark was next. "Stay out of trouble, Mari," he said with a grin. "I know how it likes to find you." Mari grinned and hugged her older brother. I'm going to miss you, she thought. Bailey and Lily only stopped for a quick hug before jumping in, which was understandable- they didn't like goodbyes, and Anneley was already crying by the time Mari embraced her. "Shhh. It'll be alright," Mari said as she stroked her sister's hair. "Help Mum around the house for me, okay?" Anneley nodded, still brushing away tears, and climbed into the van. Her triplets were next. "Don't get into too much mischief without us," said Fred. "Next thing we know, you'll be out in the field doing the exciting things," George agreed. Mari pulled them both into a hug. "I'm really going to miss you," she said into their shirts, grinning sadly as they clambered in after their siblings. Mari picked up the last one - four year old Janie. "Who's gonna walk Lassie with me?" She pouted, which made Mari laugh. "I'm sure Mark and Fred and George and Bailey and Anneley and Joseph and Lily and Nathan and Owen would be happy to help you." The little girl nodded thoughtfully. "And tell Lassie to be on her best behavior, okay? Love you," she said, setting Janie in her car seat before shutting the door and watching as they drove away. She shivered a little as she wiped a few stray tears away.

Shane
Once Shane was ready for the day, he grabbed his backpack. Taking the contents out of it and placing them on his bed, he stuffed a small blanket at the bottom and scooped up Teddy to put him in it. Teddy didn't protest- the cat had become used to being taken on adventures, and had grown to like them. Shane zipped it just enough so the cat couldn't get out, but could still poke its head out. He then swung the backpack onto his back carefully, going out of his room and heading towards the park.
