Nyla
Jonah nudged her and pointed at a picture of an aurora borealis. She smiled. "That's pretty cool." "It's awesome! I wish I could have been around to see those." Nyla nodded. "Me too." He deserves to see the stars, at least. Curse this place. Nyla stood from the beanbag. "I'm going to go get a snack." "Okay," Jonah muttered, distracted by the next picture of a starry night sky.

Kaylee
"I was dying anyways." The girl in mention whispered, weakly rubbing at there the iv needle pierced her skin. "This just makes it more comfortable."

Mason
 "Were you really?," he asked, louder and with more venom than any of his previous statements. Without a much-needed second thought, he wheeled around, jabbing a finger at John. "Where were you when she did what she did? Why didn't you prevent this from happening? You were supposed to keep her safe. Now she's dying and now I have yet another regret to add to my growing list of them. You're a doctor. We're in-... We're in whatever futuristic time period this is. You should be able to save her."

Skye 
Skye passed by the flower shop, which was now devoid of all customers. That was fun.

John
"I was in police custody, actually." John snapped back, lip curling in distaste. He really didn't want to be arguing over the top of his dying sister, but he had done everything he possibly could - legal or not. "Seeing as we came from outside the wall, I have to have my house searched and remain monitered in custody for three days incase I'm contacting the outside. That's every month. Katie had been fine for over a year, so I thought I had nothing to worry about."

Mason
 "...Oh." Why did you even say that, idiot? You're not making things any better for her. He pushed his uncharacteristically self-critical thoughts aside. "Why-... Why did you even bother getting involved with the Head, then, if it's so much trouble? I'm not, and I'm doing fine as an illegal resident. And, yeah, turn me in for saying that if you want. It's not like I'll be around for much longer, anyway," he questioned, changing the subject, which was his definition of an apology.

John 
John sighed, letting go of his anger to instead continue an actual coversation. "We had no food, no shelter, no medicine, and Cosette due to be born. I offered a trade - I would swap my medical skills and a job to gain safety for my family. They accepted, but the conditions were.... rough. Extensive, even." He swallowed thickly, mind drifting back to a time of outside the wall, the first time they had ever approached the wall in the open - and paid the price for it. Alice had been shot.

She crawled out of the secret cave and out of the entryway closet. Her socked feet were quiet on the hard floor, and she was about to turn the corner when she heard voices. Nyla didn't want to eavesdrop, but it was hard not to. "It's too dangerous, Jill." "I need to go. I'm an engineer, they might need me." "Jill, please. I know you sympathize with the rebels - I do too! - but this meeting is too risky. I can't have you getting caught doing this. What about Jonah? What would he think?" Nyla stepped around the corner. "Hi Mr. Jack. Hi Miss Jill. Can I come?" Jack shot an I-told-you-this-was-a-bad-idea look at Jill. "Nyla, sweetie, this is grown-up stuff." "Oh, I know. The rebels are trying to fight against the Head. They took the stars and the grass and all the pretty things that we, humans in general I mean, used to take for granted. It's time someone did something about it. Tonight there's a meeting, I gather. I want to go." Jack snapped his mouth shut and threw his hands in the air. "This one's yours, dear. My brain can't handle this right now." Jill laughed and kneeled in front of Nyla. "You seem to know a lot for a little girl." "I've always liked antiques and antique stores. I don't think it's fair that all the pretty things are gone now just because of the Head." Jill nodded. "You can come, then. But we have to be very very careful. And you can't tell Jonah, for his own safety, alright?" Nyla nodded seriously. "Can I have a snack?"

Mason
 "But you're safe now, right? I just don't see why you can't just break away from them now. It might be dangerous, but... fake identities have served me well," he reasoned, finally toning down his aggression a bit.

John
"I just..... Cosette is safe inside the wall. I'd like her to remain safe, both her and Alice." 

Mason
 "You say that as if everyone living inside the wall is legal," he pointed out. "You can live here without being part of the Head, you know, though I shouldn't really expect a city kid like you to know that."

Kaylee
"He was born outside the wall, Mase." Kaylee murmured, turning her head to look at her friend. "He was out there for almost sixteen years until we came inside."

Mason
 He turned to face Kaylee with a start, having been so caught up in arguing that he'd all but forgotten about why they were there to begin with. "...I wasn't even born in this time period, and yet I've managed," he responded after a short delay, which had been spent staring at his friend with an unreadable expression on his face. He finally turned back to John.

Kaylee
"Just leave him be." She grumbled, although to which John she was talking to was left unspecified. 

Mason
 Part of him felt inclined to give Kaylee some sort of retort, but, seeing her in her current condition, he couldn't make himself, instead exhaling through his nose in order to get rid of the last of his aggravation with John. "It's just-...," he began, trying to decide how to word what he was going to say to the taller male. "I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that she's gonna die, y'know? I've never actually witnessed her die, you know, from actual physical injuries before, and I have no idea if she'll be able to respawn after something like this or not, and the thought of losing the only friend that's stuck with me from what was essentially day one is... It's not something I want to even think about, and yet, here we are, it's... happening," he murmured, blinking away the sudden stinging in his eyes.
