The Forgotten Herd [all animal rp, no sign-ups]

River burst out in a fit of laughter when Crow ran into a tree. She had to stop walking and sit. After a second, she was rolling over in the leaves, her tail whipping in circles still when she finally stood. "I... Was... Laughing," she panted, her words mingled with giggles, "because... I.. imagined... you... falling... in!" She walked over to where he stood rubbing his nose and gave it a lick to soothe the pain. Her mother had done that to her and her siblings when they got her. Realizing what she had done, River jerked back, cringing.

Crow froze when River licked his nose he turned his head away so she wouldn't see him blush" I'm ok it only hurt a little" he said as he turned back looking at her, "um well lets continue on to the stream" he said casually " and by the way I don't think I would fall in, I bet I could catch a fish on my first try" he wagged his tail and began walking toward the stream.

River giggled and walked with him. "Bet you'll fall in," she whispered conspiratorially, racing ahead to the stream and stopping at the edge. She was glad the incident of the nose was past. A large fish swam below in the clear water. "Okay, Crow, catch it!" She grinned at the large wolf.

Crow ran after her before stopping at the edge next to her look down at the fish "ok I will", he watched as a few passed by trying to time it just right before lunging head first into the water. He missed the fish completely and ended up in the water soaking wet just as River had said would happen, he looked up at her and smiled "go ahead and say it, say I told you so" he got up and out of the water shaking off as much water as he could.

River squealed, jumping back as he shook out his fur. "Ah, now I'm all wet!" She burst into giggling, managing a broken "I told you so" in between the fit. After calming down, she peered into the water and watched the fish, disturbed by the wolf plunging into their waters. She giggled a bit at the thought, then lunged, all teeth and fur, her head disappearing but her body remaining on land. She emerged with a large fish flapping in her mouth, stumbled back, and dropped it on the forest floor with lots of drama.

Crow chuckled "good, I'm not the only one got that wet" he watched as River went head first in the water, he smiled as she came back up and put the large fish on the ground. "Ok so you can catch fish way better then me, but how are you with tracking prey you can't see" he smiled as he spoke, his stomach growled as he looked down at the fish "shall we eat" he took a bite of the fish and started chewing savoring the taste "you know this isn't half bad".

Shadow watched the two go with a smile before she padded back over by Crimson. It would be a long day.

River laughed. "It's very delicious. Fish is a wonderful emergency meal." She looked at the large fish, which had a large bite in it already. "I'll catch some more. We'll hunt for some real prey tomorrow." She padded back to the water, watching the fish for a moment. "I'm better at fishing compared to hunting. But yes, I do hunt." With that she lunged again at a fish. She came up with an empty jaw, her face soaked. Laughing, she said, "I may not catch one every time but at least I don't fall in!"

Crow swallowed what was in his mouth before speaking again "well I'm way better at hunting then at fishing", he laughed as she came up with no fish " your fur it looks like a wet cat" he then got up and walked over to her "well then maybe I can help with that" he lightly shoved her toward the water in hopes of pushing her in.

River squealed as she began to tumble in. She grabbed at Crow's leg with her front paws on hopes of dragging him with her but missed them. She landed with a splash and paddled around in the water happily. Spying a fish, she lunged and grabbed it, tossing it into Crow's face where he still stood on land. "There you go!" She teased, splashing water all over him. The fish flopped back into the water. "Come on, it's fun in here!" She dove under and came up, splashing him again.

Crow shook his head as the fish hit him "hey watch where you throw those things" he wagged his tail as he took a few steps back "here I come" he said as he ran and jumped in the water with River making a huge splash. He swam to where she was and splashed her back before swimming a few inches away so she wouldn't be able to get him back, he smiled and thought I'm really starting to like her but does she like me the same way.

River laughed and paddled strongly after him. "I'm the best swimmer in the water!" She glanced at the fish. "You guys excluded, though." She laughed again and lunged toward Crow, oblivious to his musings. She whipped her tail out of the water, streaming a wet rainbow behind that swirled off her tail and trickled onto Crow. She dove underwater and swam away, holding her breath. She realized how comfortable she was with Crow and chalked it up to him being so nice. She didn't want to think about that right now. She burst out of the water closer to the shore and climbed out. "We wasted too much time," she mused with a glance to the sky.

Crow smiled as she swam off "how do you know that I could easily be the best" he said jokingly he knew that he wasn't the best swimmer out there, he dived down after her only to be hit in the face with the tail of a fish, when he surface he saw River at the shore and swam toward her. " well we where just having fun and we can easily head out tomorrow instead" he wagged his tail as he looked at her and waited to see what she wanted to do.

"Sounds good," River replied, wagging her tail slightly. I'll catch more fish while you go hunting. After I've caught some fish, I'll look for somewhere to spend the night. Meet here when you've caught something. Sound good?" She glanced up at Crow to see his reaction to her words, still not fully used to having to make decisions and feeling like he would snap at her.

Crow looked toward the forest sniffing the air "ok ill go hunting, maybe ill be lucky and be able to catch a good sized rabbit" he turned back to River with a smile "mmm rabbit and fish I can taste it now" he licked his lips as he spoke, "ill be back in a bit" he then trotted toward the trees his body slightly lower to the ground as he picked up a scent of another animal.
