****As per the news announcement concerning further site development, please remember that suggestions are not currently being implemented****

So there's been some discussion lately over some breeds in-game missing colors or markings that they actually have in real life, even though those colors/markings are in the game.  In the interest of trying to be realistic, I want to get you involved in helping me decide on which colors/markings to add to breeds down the line.  However, I want proof that these colors exist on purebred horses in real life, and that they are accepted by registries.

If you feel that a breed is missing a marking or color that exists in the game, and that it has in real life, that's what this topic is for.  Apologies for any confusion over that point.

If a marking or color is widely disputed, I will probably not be adding it unless it is specifically accepted by a widely known registry.

If you have a color or marking you want to be added, please fill out this form:
If you've already posted a topic on EV about the color/marking you want added, please feel free to link to it instead of providing proof here, as long as your proof is in the topic.

Breed:
Color:
Marking:
Proof it exists on purebred horses of that breed: (e.g. links to studies, to a widely known registry which states it's accepted, etc.)
Is it disputed by a reputable source?

Please feel free to post multiple color/marking forms in the same post.

Please Note: These may not be added very soon.  I need to arrange with the artist to add the colors/markings, I need to add in the colors/markings to the genetic code, custom horse tool, EVC horse generator, etc etc.  I have a lot of other features that I would like to add in simultaneously so I cannot promise that these colors/markings will be rushed in asap.  I just want to get a rough idea of the general consensus regarding adding colors/markings to the breeds in-game.

Okay, I may have misspoke. I'm not asking for new markings or colors to add to the game such as Brindle. I'm asking for colors or markings that exist in the game already, but that a breed is missing, such as Sooty on Gypsy Vanner.

Tried to make it clearer in the main post - sorry about that! :)

What about markings that aren't in the breed IRL but are in game? Tobiano doesn't seem to be recognized by the AQHA, their "America's Horse Daily" magazine has an article on white markings and states that tobiano "has yet to be discovered in the breed". It seems the only paint markings allowed are overo, splash, etc. I don't mean to upset color QH breeders that like their tobianos, and personally, I don't really care because I try to breed for AQHA standards anyways. But if you're going for realism I just thought I'd bring that out there ^^

^ Same question as Shinku. I've seen a few colours/markings in the gypsies that I can find no evidence for in real life. It doesn't bother me, but I'm not sure if you wanted to change this to make it more realistic.

Breed: Gypsy Vanner
Marking: Leopard family of patterns plus both PATN genes
Proof it exists on purebred horses of that breed:
Pure registered gypsies with these genes:
Ghost Rider (leopard)
Indigo (snow cap) (also discusses relative rarity of Lp in gypsies, and its history)
Cesario (varnish)
Medicine Man (few spot)
Is it disputed by a reputable source? No.

Note: all gypsy breed standards I can find state that all colours/patterns are accepted, e.g. Australasian Gypsy Horse Society. This isn't the same as saying all colours/patterns are present though.

Markings that I've given to breeds ingame I unfortunately can't really do anything about now, it's bad enough that I have to remove genetics from horses that are bugged (somehow have the gene even though they're not allowed it ingame), but to decide that I'm going to remove markings from a breed? I imagine there would be a riot :P

Breed: Gypsy Vanner
Colour: Silver
Proof it exists on purebred horses of that breed:
Pure registered gypsies with these genes:
St Clarins and Sir Kieth
Sir Royal Excalibur
Regarding rarity, it seems to be less common than cream, but more common than leopard. Cannot prove this though, just seems to be a trend I'm seeing.
Is it disputed by a reputable source? No.

Do you want any information regarding pearl? I'm not clear on whether this is going to be introduced or not.

Pearl will be introduced later, but for now I want to leave it to colors/markings/dilutions that already exist in the game. I realise that pearl is technically a part of cream, but.. still :P

No worries. For the record, some gypsies have tested positive for pearl. I can put together proof of this later if it's needed.

Also, is what I'm doing where I'm listing pure registered horses with that gene suitable proof that it's present? Do I have enough of them?

If they're registered and gene tested then I think that's good enough proof that it exists in the breed.

The reason I'm asking for studies, if possible, is that I'm tentative to add in markings/colors based on only a small sample size (aka 1-2 horses). With Gypsies, for example, I had a look at the breed standards and they were very vague about what they accept so I'm more willing to add markings/colors based on a small sample size.

If widely-accepted breed standards don't specifically say whether something is allowed or not, then I'm more willing to add it into the game.

I hope that makes sense.

Well, if needed I can add plenty more. Those genes are relatively common, so there's plenty of horses out there, it's just a matter of listing them. Not hard, just time consuming. May come back and edit it later.

No problem, there's no rush on this at all, I probably won't be able to add any new markings/colors for at least a month or so. I may find time to add in GV>Silver as I already have the art file in the next few weeks but that's about all.

Breed: Mustang
Color: Appaloosa
Marking: The LP patterns & genes
Proof it exists on purebred horses of that breed:
Appaloosa is accepted in the SMR (Spanish mustang Registry) and can be found in some of their members including SMR Troubleshooter, SMR Gun Runner, SMR Crazy Legs, SMR chief pushmataha, SMR Chief Masada you get the idea. There are many registed appaloosa mustangs. The only organizations that don't allow it are registries for specific HMA's where appaloosa does not exist (such as the kiger mustang registry for example). Generally speaking though, it is a widely recognized color in mustangs.

Examples: Bronze Warrior & Herd from Adobe Town HMA
Desert Fox from the South Steens HMA
Twin Peaks HMA appaloosa after gathering
Warm Springs HMA appaloosa

The Mustangs4Us page about appy mustangs
Some of the info is out of date but there's plenty of proof of appy mustangs

Is it disputed by a reputable source? Nope
