Torpid Void

Ace
Ace nodded and looked back down at what he was doing, his mind racing again.

Louis
Because of his lack of sleep, it didn't take long for him to doze off. Instead of returning to the real world, his sleep was typical of him. Black, dreamless, peaceful. 

Mason
 Mason shrugged. "I dunno. Not really. Sort of. Regardless, it's for the best that you don't, because I'm not really in the right state of mind to be explaining myself right now." He rubbed his eyes with one hand, blinking to readjust them afterward. A figure in the near distance caught his eye, and he stopped, motioning for Rowan to do the same. "Do you see that- There's a person by that column thing, right? I'm not delusional?"

Rowan
Rowan followed Mason's train of thought with a confused expression. He squinted at the pillar. "Um, I think so?"

Harper
Harper sighed and stood back up, yanking on her chain for a moment before resuming her circle walking.

Mason
 He began walking again, slowly this time, eyes tracking the figure. A little girl. Out here. All alone. Once he and Rowan were close enough to be heard, Mason opted to try and get the girl's attention. "Hey! Kid!," he called, sounding not unlike a playground bully.

Harper
Harper looked up from the ground, looking in the direction the voice had come from. She stared at fhe figures for a moment, debating whether to reply back, and, in the process, standing there quite awkwardly because of it.

Mason
 Mase stopped a short distance away from her, studying her as best as he could from that far away. "Don't freak out. I won't hurt you-," He took a puff on his cigarette, which resulted in him coughing slightly, which then caused him to wince in pain, "-Though it's not like I even could in my current state, anyway."

Harper
"I'd fight you if you tried," Harper retorted. "Also you're driving me insane- do you even know how bad smoking is for you?"

Mason
 Mason sighed and shook his head, trudging the rest of the way up to her. "Jesus kid, you remind me of-...," He stopped himself mid-sentence as he caught a glimpse of her eyes. He was silent for a few heartbeats, blinking to make sure that his mind wasn't just playing tricks on him, that he wasn't just imagining things. "-...Aub."

Harper
"Aub?" Harper thought about that name for a moment, leaning on the pillar. "Like Auberon? Well, my dad's name is Auberon."

Mason
 "Yeah, sure is," Mason responded weakly, still staring into her eyes - an exact replica of Auberon's. "Is he doing alright?," he asked quietly, finally dragging his eyes away from hers and letting them trace the ground.

Harper
"Uh, I suppose?" Harper studied the dude for a moment, completely confused. "I mean, he went through a phase when I was seven, but apart from that, he's normal."

Rowan
"Who now?" Rowan asked, finally catching up to Mason- he'd been writing another poem in his head.

Mason
 "An old friend of mine," he mumbled in response to Rowan, eyes shifting back up to focus on Harper. "What kind of phase?," he asked apprehensively, tilting his head to the side slightly. "Should I be worried?"
