Kahlen 
It's times like this I hate being right. "One- she died because of a serious injury, not because of anyone. It was her time to go. Two- you did your best, which is all anyone can ask for, and don't you dare say you fell short or I will hit you, because you didn't. Three- you did more than any of us combined, and you didn't have to. That doesn't constitute failure or blame."

Auberon
"Okay. One - Yeah, she died of a serious injury that I have the ability to heal. Two - I could have done better; hit me if you want. Three - Just because I did more than anyone doesn't mean I'm not worthy of guilt, and besides, they did a lot for her there as well. Four - If I had gotten there sooner, or had tried to heal it all the first time, or had held out longer, she could still be alive." Auberon somehow managed to keep his voice steady, though it didn't stray from the muttered tones he had been using all morning.

Kahlen sighed. "I guess it comes down to this. Yes, you can feel guilty about this and nobody can stop you. But- I don't want you to be stuck with it. Believe me, it will consume everything until all that's left is that guilt. Been there. So if there's anything I'm trying to say, it's that nobody blames you for what happened." 

Auberon
"How do you know that? Have you talked to anyone? How do you know Lilly doesn't blame me? Her siblings and friends? Everyone in camp? And if 'nobody' blames me, then I guess I don't count for anything. Which is fair," he added under his breath.

Kahlen 
"I heard that," Kahlen said. "First of all, you mean the world to me, Auberon. That won't change. Second, if they blame you, that is their problem, not yours, and they need to realize that if you could have done anything else, you would have. And I know that they don't blame you because they're not terribly slow."

Auberon
"I thought I already made it clear I hadn't done everything in my power to save her." Auberon stood, pulling another carefully wrapped portion of chocolate from his pocket and dropping it in Kahlen's lap. "I need to get back so I can volunteer for a quest." He walked back to the amphitheater, found a seat, and plopped down onto the bench. It seems they were waiting for another person for the quest to go looking for that other kid still. 

Outlaw 
She re-entered the amphitheater and took the same seat that was way back in a shadowy corner. She would volunteer to go after Eudora and Andro. She had some unfinished business to finish with the boy. 

Floyd
"I'm sorry, I just-" He laughed bitterly, rubbing at a rogue tear that had started making it's way down his face.  " I haven't been without Ava in a long, long time."

Kahlen 
Kahlen watched him go, then blinked at the chocolate in her lap. Groaning, she muttered, "Guys. So stubbornly responsible for everything." 

James
 "And I spent several years of my life all by myself, and yet now I probably wouldn't be able to survive an hour alone. Looks like we're both going after all," he murmured.

Floyd
"Shannon's in the infirmary." Kaylee grumbled to the unanswered question, crossing her arms as she glared up at Floyd. "I'll just go bunk with Lionel." "Thanks, Kay." At least he knew that she would be looked after in the hermes cabin."

James
 "Wait, so what quest are we going on, exactly?," he asked, smiling a bit when he realized the irony of their situation. Arguing about going on a quest that neither of us knows the purpose of. Of course.

Jimmy
 He got back to the tent, reluctantly walking up to Freddie. "Well kid, I've got some more bad news. This is somehow even worse than the last news."

Freddie
Her hands nervously twisted the wooden cube, her hard work falling apart as she did so. "What is it?"

Jimmy
 He raised his empty hands, momentarily forgetting that she couldn't see. "No grape soda. It's all gone. The world as we know it is coming to an end."

Freddie
She took a shaky sip of the water bottle that had been given to her. "Oh - Okay. I'll just drink this then." She gestured with the water bottle, hoping her voice wasn't as shaky as it sounded in her head.
