Eudora looked up and clapped her hands together. "Well, I'm going back to the Strawberry Fields, if anyone asks and um... Kahlen, always remember- bunnies do fly." She walked off.

Jade
She shook her head. "No. There's nothing off about him." She nodded at Katie. "He's pretty cool." When Eudora announced that, she grinned at her. "Actually...." she gestured to the gathering campers. "Apparently capture-the-flag is required. You might get eaten by harpies if you don't attend. It might be best just to stay here."

Kahlen 
"Isn't it obvious? There are holes in his story everywhere. Everything he does seems to have a hidden purpose. Nothing quite fits together." She huffed in frustration. "If he's gone, we can't waste time."

Ethel
 "That... that's awesome," she murmured, her gaze shifting back and forth from the satyr to the opal in her hand. She was at a loss of what to do or say, so all she ended up doing was standing there, drowning in the uncomfortable silence. She opened her mouth to say something, but closed it once she realized that she had nothing to say. The silence was killing her, so she mustered up all the courage that she possibly could and quickly kissed him on the cheek. Ethel then promptly bolted, grabbing Kili's left wing in her hasty attempt to climb onto the pegasus. Once she was on, she slammed her heels against the mare's sides, and the pegasus leapt into the air.

Katie
Katie frowned. "Why are you so worried about what he does, Kahl? What aren't you telling us?" She knew her friend was withholding something from them.... but if she though it was important, she would tell them, right?

Bobby
He stumbled backward a step, surprised, then watched helplessly as she soared away. He sighed and gently reached up, touching where she had kissed his cheek. He let his hand fall to his jacket, pulling out his flute and sitting cross-legged between the strawberry plants. For a moment, no tune came naturally to his mind, and then his fingers blurred as they flew. He barely stopped for breath as he played the break-neck song, but it helped calm him and the fast pace meant more concentration. For a full three minutes he played the song before it was done.

Jade
She glanced at Kahlen, wanting to hear what she had to say in response.

Kahlen 
"The dream," Kahlen hissed. "He's dangerous. If we just let him go without acting, our quest is as good as done. He-" she shook her head. "Stupid dreams," she muttered.

Katie
Katie set a reassuring hand on Kahlen's shoulder. "No, don't dismiss it. You clearly thing it's important, and I trust you." She looked around and lowered her voice. "You're probably one of, if not the most observant and intelligent people here. If you've seen something that doesn't seem right, you've probably sene something people didn't want you to see."

Jade
She didn't know what dream Kahlen was talking about, then it hit her. The one with the figure surrounded by darkness. Her green eyes flashed angrily. "Alex is not dangerous," she growled. "And he definitely wouldn't do something like that." She stood and turned away from the others, blinking back tears and starting to walk away. Katie had accepted the fact that Alex would be evil, but Jade couldn't. Not after last night. He had created her Star, he had supported her after she had been tricked by the Voice, he had simply been there... She shook her head and frowned. A subconscious memory surfaced, as if it had happened while she had been asleep - the sensation of his fingers running through her hair. Where are you, Alex?

"Jade-" Kahlen sighed as she watched Jade walked away. She shook her head. "Think what you want," she whispered. "I'm not wrong."

Jade
She stopped in her tracks. "Oh, you are smart, Jade Harper." That chilling laugh echoed in her head. "You can feel it, can't you? They are seeking out your fall, they have come together and are plotting your demise. Your death, Jade. Why don't you stop them from destroying you, Jade? Turn on them. Betray them. Do what they want to do to you." She wanted to hit something. Or you could just shut up, she retorted. She knew when the Voice had left her like she always did. She turned slowly and looked at Kahlen. "Well, now I don't know what to think," she said sarcastically. "You tell me this, and now I'm being told you guys are trying to betray me." She tapped her head, indicating the Voice had spoken to her again.

Kahlen
The feeling was back. "I-I'm sorry, Jade. You asked, and I gave you an honest answer. Whatever the Voice says, I'm not trying to betray you. I'm trying to stop the end of the world from happening. I'm trying to help. You don't have to believe me. I just- I don't want you to get hurt, Jade." Wow. That had gotten deep.

She sat back down. "I don't really trust the Voice, anyways. Since when has it tried to help me?" And since when have you? she thought, but she shoved the thought away. She did with the chimera, idiot. If she didn't trust these people, how could she succeed on the quest? And she had to succeed, for her father if for nobody else. She sighed and shook her head. "I just, I can't believe Alex would do something like that. Not after - not after last night." She tried to keep her voice from breaking with some success.

Kahlen sighed. This was getting complicated, and they hadn't even started their quest. "I didn't either, in the beginning. But people change."
"Think about it, Jade," she said gently. "You'd only known him for, what, less than 48 hours? You wouldn't have known."

She glanced up and then sighed. "I guess..." She looked once more to the ocean. Should she mention Star? No.. she would show them him tonight instead. She still couldn't quite believe their accusations, and held out hope that they were wrong. And why wouldn't she? She had to finally admit to herself that she liked him... at least a little.
