She looked up, her eyes swimming with sadness and defeat. She hadn't saved him. "He.. He caught on fire. The water took too long to get here." She looked down at the mound of dirt and the single, beautiful white flower. Her brow furrowed and she carefully leaned forward, gently pulling on a corner of cloth. Her eyes widened when she had pulled it from under the dirt. "It's his jacket," she said, amazed, "in perfect condition." She handed it over to Ethel, almost reverently. "You should have it." "You failed, Jade. Your water couldn't save him. You're too weak. Too powerless. You'll never complete the quest." Jade ignored the Voice, though its biting words echoed in her head, for all of it was true.

"It's a chance you'll have to take," he said watching the dogs. "And I hate to say it this way, but there's a high chance that whether they be good or bad, they're probably going to die. Nobody trusts them."

"Oh, James...." Katie whispered, following James. She guessed at who was around them, and murmured "Jade?" Quietly, seeing as the girl would probably be the most stable at the moment, and could probably provide the only coherent explanation.

Auberon could hear Outlaw's voice, but couldn't see her anywhere. Actually he couldn't really see anything. He backed up slowly and hit something behind him. Spinning around, he almost ran face first into a wall. He was in some kind of a room. "Where am I?'
