Outlaw

Auberon
Auberon blinked a couple times and Outlaw came slowly into view. "It has been a weird day that's for sure..." he muttered. He looked down at the dogs. "I don't know," he said to Outlaw. "Just listen."
There was a dripping noise not too far from where they stood. It almost sounded like it was echoing, which confused the location it was coming from.

Jade
She sat back on her heels and stared at the flower. "You failed, you failed, you failed," the Voice sing-songed tauntingly. Jade's eyes stung and she scrabbled to her feet. "I'll be in my tent," she said, and sprinted away. She threw the tent open and slammed the zipper back down again as fast as she could, collapsing into a sitting position at the edge of her cot. Now, in private, tears streamed freely down her cheeks. The Voice had left, Jade knew, but she didn't need its taunting words to feel guilty.

Outlaw

Katie
"Hey." Katie soothed, patting around for James' face and pulling their foreheads together. "I won't go anywhere. I'm staying right here, with you. I promise." She breathed, kissing his forehead gently. "I'm sorry.... about what I said before, and now."

Auberon
Auberon nodded uneasily. "Ya, something bad and.... almost like death has taken over the world or something." He walked slowly into the middle of the room. As he looked around he noticed that there were twelve passage ways appearing all around him and Outlaw. They each had a different look to them; some looking comforting, some looking deadly. But he couldn't determine which one the dripping was coming from. "What do you make of it?"

Kahlen
Kahlen couldn't take it anymore. "Just stop! Please!" The tears ran freely down her face. "I can't..."

Jade
I'm a failure. I couldn't stop Eudora. I couldn't save Bobby. She wiped at her eyes but let her hand fall. Why try to whisk them away when more would come? She buried her head in her hands. "Jade, you're not my friend, and you never will be!" Eudora's words echoed in her head, and Jade kept seeing Bobby rolling around, quietly dying, too thoughtful to even cry out. Jade's shoulders rose and fell with silent sobs. Why would anyone think I'm good enough for this quest? It would be better for everyone if they just left without me. All I can do is get hurt and fail. There was Eudora again, shouting that Jade wasn't her friend. Am I anyone's friend? Or have I failed there, too? And suddenly, thrown into the repeating slideshow of Eudora and Bobby, was Joshua, walking out the door between the cheerleaders. I didn't save him, either. Jade tried to block out the faces, the words, but they wouldn't go away. "You failed, you failed, you failed!" Jade knew the Voice wasn't there, it was just another recent memory to add to the painful slideshow flying through her mind. Her shoulders heaved, her tears flowed, and yet her tent was quiet.

Eudora
Eudora ran further and further away until she collapsed on the ground from lack of breath and exahstion. She could hear the Voice wispering to her, you did well child, you did well.

Auberon turned towards the dogs. "Oh now I have to be the brave one?" he said jokingly. He turned his head over towards a differsnt tunnle. It almost sound like it was calling him. "Do you hear that?"

Jade
She didn't know how long she sat there, the three faces circulating through her mind, the Voice's taunting words weaving in and out. Her eyes were dry and could produce no more tears. Jade rubbed the clinging stragglers off her face and let out a shaky sigh. The image of Joshua, walking out of the school, the cheerleaders leading him on, faded away. And a new, fresh image appeared. Alex, his eyes full of sadness and pain because she couldn't remember. If Jade's eyes had had anymore tears, she would have begun crying again.
