[Laureal] New Character

I've been very busy designing a new character and expanding my art skills. I can't wait to make this horse (which remains unnamed at the moment) into my newest mascot for my stable. I wanted to create a horse that was a little more realistic compared to the pink unicorn I have now. 

Each piece of artwork takes me around 2 days to a week to complete, if I work on it every day. I'm struggling to draw manes and tails, however, I am hoping to improve that as I continue to draw more frequently. I use the free program Krita, which I am enjoying more than photoshop (don't ask me why lol).

Lol but I love the pink unicorn!! Every time I see him I think “that’s laureal!” Haha but this character is cool too! I like the unique markings

omg I love it!! the middle one is so purdy, I don't know how you can sit down and do all the shading, I constantly procrastinate xD


Now, you did put this in the 'Art gallery and Critique' section, so Imma offer my knowledge of equine muscle and such because if everyone just tells you it's perfect all the time, you can't change little details and make it even perfecter :D so I'm not being rude, just going to offer a bit of advice♥♥
 I'm going to go over the top one bc that's easier xD

Firstly I'm gonna say I'm not sure what breed it is, which will heavily alter the shape of the face :3 Right now the chin looks a bit like this horse, which has no definition between the chin and lower lip, and also has a deep chin groove. A head shape like this* is almost always more desirable in head conformation, so the head tapers neatly into a fine muzzle. Another thing is the cheekbones,* which could be a little softer and more pronounced I guess, hard to explain. The eyes and ears are perfect, sometimes I see alert ears but the eyes don't match, or vice versa, but you got them down great, so no need to talk about them. I think lastly is the neck/topline.* This horse has a nice topline, follow from the ears down the length of the neck to the withers. If the neck dips in like this horse, then there isn't enough muscle, usually seen in older horses or those who aren't ridden/exercised enough. same with the front of the neck around the jugular groove(the yellow section on the neck), it should have a bit of an outward curve to it♥

and for anyone reading, this horse anatomy chart can help all of us, I use several all the time♥♥ I find them to be better than a horse pic(depending on desired poses) because many horses have poor conformation or weak toplines :)

I hope I didn't come across as too harsh, if so I certainly didn't mean it that way♥♥

The anatomy is just fine imo...she picks the breed. Yes every breed is different in anatomy, but you don't know what breed she wants the horse to be.

@Kali - I decided to look at the images you linked, and the horse in the picture you linked when talking about the top line doesn't have good conformation. The horses withers and hindquarters are supposed to be the same height. The hindquarters should not be taller then the withers causing that horse to have bad conformation. I just wanted to let you know..I do horse judging as a FFA contest, and that's one of the things I have to look for when I'm judging a horse's conformation.
