The Isles of Nowhere | Rp (COMPLETED)

Eclipsetess then bursted out some powerful magic to blow the mare and stallion away from her and Solstice, at least strong enough to push them back far away enough, "I am assigned to her no matter what! It is our duty as GUARDIANS!" Eclipsetess yelled, she was.. Really protective now as her eyes glowed, then she lowered the field of magic before it shattered away.

"And about the wings, they can go away if you want the wings too, their not permanant, just think of nothing on your body except your dazzling horn!" Eclipsetess told Solstice, then a little bit more ooze came out her horn before dripping to the ground, "shoot!" she whispered before she rubbed the ooze away, "I hate my birth defect.." she muttered again, she looked back at Solstice.

"Oh and we can go to the place now, we don't have to stay here with.. Those two.." Eclipsetess eyed angrily at the two horses that came up to them earlier, she then looked sweetly at Solstice, she probably thought that Solstice was very surprised and a bit scared.

Eclipsetess felt a little nervous as a random stallion went up to Eclipsetess, he was very amused, he then sweetly smiled and gestured Solstice, he treated their greeting like a true gentleman of style! Eclipsetess just looked at the stallion, clearly annoyed as she began trying to look away from him, Eclipsetess then began shoving Solstice towards the spot that she told her about. The stallion just joined them..

"Eclipsetess, why don't you tell the nice, young, mare about me and tell her my name?" the stallion asked Eclipsetess, she just ignored him as she kept shoving Solstice more and more.

"Sorry but I can't talk Wither, I'm assigned to this nice, young, mare here!" Eclipsetess told the stallion, he just looked sadly at her before turning the other way back out of the foliage, or known as the forest.

Eclipsetess stopped shoving Solstice as they walked normally now, Wither was just sad and waited for Eclipsetess and Solstice to return.. He even laid his head onto the soft ground and fell asleep..

     Skadi just huffed as she tried to fight back the force that pushed her and Khepri away. Though the force was stronger then her. Skadi just stamped her hood in the ground with enough force to leave a indent in the ground, "Fine! Have her! None of us want her here anyway. Take her if you wish," she said with a snort before turning away, "Come on Khepri. She's finally gone for good," she said with a smile. She'd been waiting for this day as well as the rest of the herd. Khepri just followed smiling a bit too. 

     Solstice just hid a bit behind Eclipsetess as she looked down. Though she just stepped out a bit when she saw what she did to them. She smiled a bit as she watched. No one ever did something like that for her, and she didn't have to deal with them anymore. Honestly she didn't have to deal with her birth herd at all anymore. The never believed she would leave the herd, but whatever forced them to keep her in didn't matter anymore.

     Solstice just watched Skadi and Khepri walked away almost gleefully before looking at Eclipsetess. She noticed the black ooze again, and couldn't help but to ask about it this time, "Is your horn okay..?" she asked as she watched her wipe her horn. Though that was until Solstice saw the stallion that came up out of nowhere. She hid herself behind Eclipsetess slightly as she peeked at him.

     Until Eclipsetess started pushing her to walk in a certain direction. "Alright..." she said slowly walking in the direction she wanted. Though she peeked at the stallion every now and then. A quick peek couldn't hurt right? Oh well. Solstice just watched him for a moment as he left before looking at the wings. She forgot they were there. She slightly opened them, and flapped them lightly a few times. Then she got curious and flapped them harder. This time she could feel her hooves getting off the ground slightly. Though, she kind of fell, "Sorry..."

"Oh it's nothing, I guess your starting to fly on your own now, good ahead. I don't mind, plus I'll catch up anyways!" Eclipsetess said, she just watched Solstice happily, "Oh and about my horn, that is actually a birth defect, it doesn't hurt me, it just shows how much magic I have been using." Eclipsetess added on, she forgot to answer what Solstice asked.

"Anyways, the stallion that followed us a bit is actually my friend, he doesn't roam herds, nor even joins them. He just watches me as he wants to become a guardian, but I keep telling him that it's a whole butt ton of work! Plus, you need to pass trials to get to become a guardian, though only a slight few of unicorns become guardians, some too young but still want to achieve their dreams are pronounced as apprentices, working for and training with a real guardian." Eclipsetess informed Solstice, she also forgot to add something, "And even a unicorn like me with a birth defect still became a guardian, I am glad that I had achieved my dreams, but I did miss my friends when I went to train and work for a real tough guardian. I guess that I chewed a bit too much then I could swallow." Eclipsetess humbled herself, looking happy and crying a bit.

"Ah, memories. Anyways, if you keep flapping your wings then you could become an Alicorn! The most rarest of both a pegasus and unicorn, speed won't become a problem with you!" Eclipsetess inspirationally said, she tried to inspire Solstice.

Then the stallion came back as he nuzzled Eclipsetess, he was trying to not make her annoyed, "I'm sorry, I'm too hubris for anything anymore.." the stallion apologized as Eclipsetess accepted it, she still made sure to watch Solstice and be there for her just in case anything happened.

"I'll also be here for you as well, to help out if anything went bad!" the stallion said, he watched Solstice carefully and he watched her movements as Eclipsetess was ready to help at any minute!

     Solstice just quickly got up feeling a bit embarrassed. She glanced at her new wings as she lightly flapped them to free them of the dirt they collected from when she fell. They weren't near as big as Faith's wings, but they were just big enough for her. She just looked down slightly, "Well I figured I might as well try to use them..." she said looking back at the wings lightly flapping them to get the feel of them, "Thought it would be easier to learn how to fly then using magic.." For once in her life she actually forgot about her horn and the fact that she couldn't do any sort of magic. It felt nice until she had to remind herself.

     She decided to give the wings another shot. Solstice looked ahead as she cantered ahead a short ways to hopefully get a running start. The mare slowly spread out her wings before she started flapping them. She could feel her hooves touch the ground less and less the more she flapped her new wings. Solstice looked down soon realizing that her hooves weren't touching the ground at all. She was at least a few inches off the ground, but it seemed like a lot higher to her. "I-i think I'm doing it!" she said before she got too excited and fell again. "Nevermind.." she muttered looking at herself. 

     Solstice got back up shaking off all the dirt off of her body as she looked at Eclipsetess listening to her as she spoke. "You must have worked really hard to become a guardian.." she said getting more comfortable with her, "Though..it seems like it was worth it.." she said looking at her before looking down for a moment, "You and the others have already helped me so much..." she said talking a bit quieter then before. 

     That was until she heard what Eclipsetess said next. Solstice stopped in her tracks as she looked at her, "What do you mean I could become....a alicorn..? I thought you said these wings weren't permanent..?" she asked confused as she looked at the wings that were now on her back. She unfolded them slightly before she folded them back to her sides when she noticed the stallion reappeared again.

     Solstice just went quiet as she peeked at him every now and then. When she noticed he spoke to her specifically and was looking at her, Solstice merely just nodded. Her social anxiety got to her a bit again, but she hid it. Solstice just kept quiet as she continued to glance at the stallion and her guardian every now and then. Though for a second she picked up to a trot, but quickly went back to a walk.

     Never has Solstice felt free. Like she was given another chance. She never believed anything that happened that day to actually happen. Did she really just up and leave her birth herd? She couldn't believe it. She really did. She really left her herd. She was starting fresh, but she just couldn't believe it. She felt younger, even though she was still young, but she felt more alive and spirited then she did only a hour before.

"Well, it is true that your wings aren't permanent, but you can still become something more, but that is up to your own free will." Eclipsetess spoke to Solstice, the mare then used her magic to make wings appear on her back as well.

"You see, I did work hard on becoming a guardian, it's just.. Well, I had to be trained up in the clouds, because everyone would've bullied me when I was younger then now, I'm actually a rare alicorn birthed under the brightest of moons very few centuries to appear, it is a legend that if a unicorn is born under the brightest of moons, then they are forced to become an alicorn." Eclipsetess said, her little starry dots got to the wings, the stallion just examined them before falling between his legs.

"Careful now Wither, now, anyways. Only a true alicorn will be born under the starry sky, under the fullest and brightest moon, and soon, I was just a lucky winner to be both an alicorn and a guardian for the night unicorn. My wings are supposed to be smaller then Faith's wings as she is a goddess, but- that's not what happened when I fully matured." Eclipsetess said as she lifted Solstice into the air with her magic casting a bubble around her.

Then without a second heart beat or hoof beat, Eclipsetess flew into the air very fastly, her wings bigger then Faith's as it looked more starry into the bright, blue sky of morning, then not a second longer, the stallion known as Wither flew into the air. His wings the same size as his body, marking he is an apprentice at training.

"Now you see Solstice, alicorns are rare, but they are not supposed to have gigantic wings! Especially if your a guardian, but, I was born with wings bigger then a dragon's! If they still lived that is." Eclipsetess said, as her wings almosted covered the whole forest beneath.

"And with Wither following us behind, soon he'll catch up, but you see his wings? Guess what? He is a pegasus in guardian training, no matter the breed or who you are, you can still achieve dreams beyond your own recognition!" Eclipsetess as she began to hover above the forest.

Wither then caught up to the girls, he then began to hover as well, his wings were surely smaller then Eclipsetess's wings, "And a second thing to note, his wings are normal pegasus wings, they are to be the same size as his body, except with golden things attached to the end to symbolize guardianship and apprentice guardianship." Eclipsetess noted, Wither just blushed of embarrassment, and turned around to scan the area.

"Now we are very high in the air, you can tell because we are at the mountain's peak, perfect for young pegasi and alicorns to start training and getting their wing endurance up to fly long travels when neccesary." Eclipsetess said as she smiled at Solstice, then without hesitation the bubbled magic popped and Solstice began to fall.

"Don't forget to flap your wings! And make sure to watch where you are going!" Eclipsetess yelled, as she began to fly next to Solstice, Wither followed behind quickly and stayed on the other side of Solstice. To make sure that she doesn't hurt herself.

     Solstice just walked beside Eclipsetess as she listened to her speak. She looked at the wings Eclipsetess gave her as she ruffled them slightly. Solstice then looked back at her guardian noticing the wings that were now on her own body. Magic. Something she thought she had, but she didn't understand anything about it. Though she started to learn some things about magic after watching Eclipsetess use her own magic. It just fascinated her a bit.

     She listened silently flicking her ears every once in awhile, it was something she did often, but she paid no mind to it. "So if your a alicorn, then why do you hide your wings?" she asked admiring them a bit. They were large and she thought they looked lovely on her. It was clear Solstice was getting a lot more comfortable with being with Eclipsetess. Not so much Wither, but she figured she'd get used to him too.

     Listening to Eclipsetess made Solstice think about when she was born. She didn't really know when or even where she was born. Solstice knew her brother had lied to her about several things, but she knew he only did it to protect her. Though there was a lot she didn't know about herself or her parents. Something she'd never imagine about. "I don't much about my parents, or about myself and my birth really, but the one thing I know about my mother was that she would always wear this necklace..." Solstice paused as she looked down at the pale blue necklace she wore. Though the necklace was the same color of her eyes. 

     Solstice's body was primarily dark colors, something that was common when your a night unicorn, but the only that wasn't dark was her eyes. They were easy to see during the night since they were a light pale blue color. Sometimes the sky was the same color. "My brother always said that my mother never took this necklace off...that there was something special about it. What he meant by that he had no idea. 

     Before Solstice even realized it her hooves stopped touching the ground. She looked down starting to freak out a bit before she noticed the strange magic bubble that enclosed her inside of it. Just in case, Solstice spread her wings halfway and flapped them lightly. Mainly just to get used to the feeling of wings. She looked down at Eclipsetess, and before she knew it, she was flying right beside her, "Your wings really are big," she said forgetting about her own for a moment. She then looked at Wither and his wings. Hers were still smaller then his. Oh well.

     She looked back at her guardian when she heard her speak again. Though she froze slightly seeing how high up they were. Solstice looked down seeing just how high up they were. She nearly had a panic attack, but she took a few deep breaths to keep herself together. Solstice soon realized she was fine, and wasn't falling. More like floating because of the bubble. It was strange and she lightly touched it with her hoof out of curiosity. It was like she was a filly again even though she was a young mare. Almost fully mature.

     Though before Solstice could even process what just happened, the bubble popped and she started falling. That was when she freaked out. It was like she was galloping in the air, but she forgot about the wings on her back. Solstice looked up hearing what Eclipsetess said as she glanced at her new wings. She quickly took a deep breath as she spread the wings entirely and started flapping.

     She could see the trees quickly growing larger until they stopped. By then, Solstice had her eyes closed, but what she didn't realize was that she was in fact flying. At least flying in place. She stopped herself from falling into the trees without realizing. After a long minute or two, Solstice slowly opened her eyes when she thought she should have fallen in the trees by then. Though she noticed she wasn't falling or anything. Solstice looked around before realizing she was flying. "I-I'm..doing it!" she said happily. It looked as though she'd been flying for awhile, and that she was doing it with ease. Well maybe she was since it took her awhile to realize it. 

     "I'm flying..." she muttered to herself gleefully as she looked down. She could see where her birth herd stayed, and she then realized just how far she was from them. It felt refreshing knowing she didn't have to return. Though she figured they were celebrating that she left. Honestly she didn't care. Solstice knew she was now in a better place. A good place. "Was that a one time thing...?" she asked Eclipsetess as she looked at her still a bit shaken up from the experience.

"Well, yes. Now you know how glide in the air, and if you still don't know how to flap your wings hard enough to fly without needing my help, then I'm here with you, every single step." Eclipsetess said, before long Faith began flying with the three, she whinnied and happily flapped her wings more to fly up into the clouds.

"Hm, looks like Faith is happy to see you in the air." Eclipsetess said as she was looking at Solstice, "Now, should we fly up and see the Air Kingdom? Or keep flying and see where the wind will take us?" Eclipsetess asked Solstice, Wither went down onto the ground as he was exhausted.

"Oh and about hiding my wings, I am very valueable with these large wings, so I am told to hide them and act like a normal unicorn. Minus the defect I have." Eclipsetess answered Solstice's question, Wither then flew back up into the air to catch up with the two girls.

As Eclipsetess still flew and continued to glide, the wind pointed down for a bit and she tucked her wings carefully, making sure that Solstice saw she was doing, to try and help with landing.

Azulia then trotted up to Eclipsetess as she flew down, before long Wither also landed, now they just waited for Solstice to fly down and hopefully that she can safely..

Eclipsetess had her magic ready and she bursted it out when Solstice wouldn't be able to land, but she wasn't sure, so she just waited for Solstice to fly on down onto the ground.

     Solstice nodded as she looked down a bit. She gulped slightly, but it would just take some getting used to being high up in the air. She never thought her hooves would ever leave the ground. "Good...I don't think I could handle something like that again.." she said a bit shakily as she looked back at Eclipsetess. For a second she forgot to flap her wings as she fell slightly, but she caught herself. "Heh..sorry..still taking some getting used to." she said with a small embarrassed smile. Solstice would get the hang of it soon. She'd never really learned how to do something before, but she was surprised at how quickly she was learning how to fly.

     Solstice looked up seeing Faith flying in the distance before she looked at Eclipsetess once more. She nodded slightly as she glanced at where she saw Faith only seconds before. "It would be cool to see what it'd look like, but I don't think I can keep flapping these wings for much longer.." Solstice looked at her wings as she started flapping them a bit harder to keep herself where she was.

     "I never thought that having large wings would make someone valueable. Guess there was a lot more that I didn't know then I thought.." she looked down slightly. She knew it wasn't her fault that she wasn't very knowledgeable of most things, but everyone just kept things from her. Simple knowledge being one of them. They only did it to make her feel dumb, and because they saw no point. Everyone in Solstice's birth herd thought that she had no purpose or skills, but soon they would all learn just how wrong they were. Even Solstice herself.

     Solstice watched Eclipsetess learning from her about flying. She watched as Eclipsetess slightly tucked in her wings in a careful manner before she flew down and landed on the ground. Solstice didn't take her eyes off of Eclipsetess wanting to see what she needed to do to land safely. She then looked over at Wither watching him as he landed. Now it was her turn. "Shouldn't be too hard..." she muttered to herself as she took a deep breath or two.

     When she felt as ready as she could have been, Solstice carefully tucked in her wings lightly before she let the wind take her down. Though she did her best to control where she was going. The closer the ground got, the more Solstice seemed to freak out a bit until her hooves made contact with the earth once more. Her landing wasn't the best, and was no where near pretty, but hey she made it. 

     When Solstice did land, she did canter a short ways until she managed to stop fully. She stood for a second to realize she safely landed before walking back to the others her head partly lowered, "You guys made it look easier then I thought it was...it's just going to have to take time to get the hang of it.." she said as she looked at her wings while she folded them to her sides, "What now..?" she asked looking at Eclipsetess.

Eclipsetess giggled as she magically made a decorated book appear, "Read this, this will inform you about everything that you need to know. It is a very old book, and nothing change about it. So your safe to read it." Eclipsetess said as she put the book on Solstice's back, she then giggled again. "It was primarily Azulia's idea, it would be best to get you caught up to everything." Eclipsetess added, she then made her wings disappear.

"Now, do you want me to hide your wings, or should you try on your own?" Eclipsetess said, she then forgot about what Solstice said earlier.

"Oh, I am so forgetful, but my wings are mostly valueable since it is a defect, you can get defects like these.. If you inherited them, or it was caused by a disease, but it's primarily defects." Eclipsetess said, she tried pointing out something.

"What Eclipsetess is trying to say, is that you can get defects pretty easy, unless you inherited them or they were caused by something that you also inherited. Take Smoke as an example, she has a black marking on her, causing her normal coat to look like black ink on her body. It also caused her right eye to become a different color. Including her scelera.." Azulia butted in, she made sure to have Solstice understand.

"I think what I tried to mean by having big wings, is that it's a defect, meaning something that changes within your body to be more suited to it, mutations are just complete change while still looking like yourself, like markings on Azulia! She has a marking called "Paint Bomb", it makes her tobiano or sabino markings into a paint bomb perspective instead. It's also called inherited genes in past family memebers." Eclipsetess told Solstice, Azulia then jumped into the air very high and touched the ground softly.

"Now without hesitation, you should get to reading, there's going to be a pop quiz when your done. There's no rush as well, read whenever you like, and stop when you want too, oh and another thing to notw; the book has it's own magic, meaning that it's able to do things like floating while following you and other stuff about that, and flipping pages on their own, and casting magic for you to learn quicker! You should get to the page called "Unicorns With No Magic, but Want To Learn: How", it's on the tables of contents, page 12345!" Eclipsetess added again.

"Or in simple terms, page number is 12,345." Azulia smartly budged in, Eclipsetess looked a annoyed as she tried to hide it to her best.

It seemed like Azulia and Eclipsetess had their little feud from time to time, but it definately got to them.

     Solstice just looked at the book, "Yeah...considering everyone tried to keep as much info away from me as possible...it'd be nice to know more instead of always asking dumb questions.." Her voice kind of died off at the end as she slowly lowered her gaze. Maybe she'd enjoy reading. Something to do whenever nothing was going on, and she'd have something productive to do for once. That's when it hit her. She'd actually have something helpful to do. Maybe not so much helpful to the others, but helpful to herself. 

     Solstice slightly got caught up in her thoughts almost not even processing what she barely heard Eclipsetess say. "Oh uh..probably best you do it...I can't even pick up a leaf with my magic.." Once again her voice died off as she slightly opened up her temporary wings looking at them. Why did she have to keep on reminding herself on those kinds of things? It only made her feel pathetic, dumb, and weak.

     She simply just shook her head of the thoughts as best she could as she looked up at the two mares once again. Solstice listened to every word they said taking in as much info as she could, "So defects are basically common then? Basically what the two of you are trying to say?" she asked as she thought she understood most of what they said.

     What she heard next took her by surprise. A pop quiz!? Thousands of pages!? She was willing to read, but she didn't realize just how much reading she'd have to do. Solstice looked at the book as she gulped a bit. They were both right. She really should get to reading then. Though the section Eclipsetess said only made the same thoughts pop into her head that she just shook out of her head, but she hid it. 

     "Well..at least I don't have to use magic to read.." she muttered. Though by knowing those two as well as she seemed to have already, she figured they had heard her. It hadn't even been that long since everything changed for her, but she didn't realize just how much everything has changed since that morning, and how much she was learning about herself already. Though it would still be awhile until she learned things about herself she didn't even think was possible. "I guess I should start reading then like you guys said.."

"Yes you should, and when you are done, we will answer your questions when you have the time. But for now, you may ask us once in awhile for a question or two, or even to help you out with a word to simplify it for you." Eclipsetess as she directed Solstice under a tree, "Best you read under that tree, it will help with the time.." Eclipsetess had made her thought of the day into a little question.

Azulia then had Eclipsetess fly onto the branch to watch over Solstice, the mare bowed and flew onto the branch, the tree made sure to carry Eclipsetess's weight, Eclipsetess made sure to have her magic at the ready. Azulia then went off to search as the herd just continued being calm and silent.

"Man the herd is quiet now.." a random mare said as she looked around the herd and every other horse, she then went back to grazing as Smoke and Scorn just enjoyed the chill breeze on their coats and manes, the other herd might be chilly, but that was their fault for picking such a low ground. Scorn then stayed on the hill, looking over the horizon, he took a deep breath as Smoke began getting curious of the plants dotting around the herd's place, Scorn knew this was a magic barrier to separate herds and not cause trouble.

Then Snow went up to Scorn as she looked over at the horizon, she sighed happily and neighed quietly to him, Scorn nuzzled the mare as Smoke came back to her dad as she was holding a very precious plant in her mouth..

"I see you brought us a rose, how thoughtful of you Smoke, my beautiful daughter." Scorn said as he took the rose, Snow then sniffed it and took it, she took it to her herb nest to examine the plants further. Even flowers.

Scorn then playfully chased Smoke into the herd, the mares then started to get playful as Smoke was dotting between them, until she stopped between her mother's front legs to see where Scorn was, then he budged Smoke as she ran between the mares again as Scorn laughed when he stopped at the magical barrier was, Smoke also went back to her dad. He didn't scold her for going, almost, towards another herd.

"Sorry, I'll be in the herd now father." Smoke said, as she ran back into the herd.

Scorn made sure to have Smoke in the herd, so her mother stayed with her until she was trusted a bit more..

     Solstice just gave a small nod as she walked over to the tree Eclipsetess directed her to. She laid down comfortably underneath the tree in the shade. Solstice then looked up at Eclipsetess, "Is it comfortable up there?" she asked with a small single laugh. To her, it didn't look as comfortable, but hey she never perched in a tree before. Not that she wouldn't try it sometime.

     Then Solstice turned her attention to the book. She attempted to use the magic she hoped she had to pull the book in front of her, but didn't succeed. Not surprising. Though something at least happened that time. When Solstice tried to use her magic, there was a string like object that glowed as it wrapped around her horn. Solstice noticed this, but she said nothing. It was at that moment that she realized she truly did have magic inside of her. She just had to unlock it. Solstice knew she'd learn to use it overtime, but right now she just had to focus on reading this book.

     Though as Solstice turned her attention back to the book, it had floated off of her back. "What the..." she muttered as she watched the book. To her amusement, it brought itself in front of her and opened to the first page. "This thing really is magic," she said with a small quiet laugh. Solstice quickly gazed through the table of contents, "Wow..there really is a lot to read..." she sighed as she quickly glanced at Eclipsetess before the book opened to the very first page of the very first chapter, "The history of the Isles..." she muttered aloud before she started reading quietly.

As Solstice was reading, Eclipsetess used a bit of her magic to summon a little doll infront of her, then she began to make a clone before working to finish the little doll she had, and when she was done finishing her first doll. She then began working on her second doll, she eyed Solstice once in awhile to make the doll seem correct.

Though she did leave out the eyes to be light blue buttons, since it was an easier time to finish the doll that way, she even used her magic to make the dolls, she then adjusted herself on the branch that held her weight, feeling comfortable. Eclipsetess stayed like that until she cramped and did the same thing.

Once in a great while that she'll get up to use her magic to speed up Solstice's reading a bit, though Solstice wouldn't feel it as it would be in the ground, the root of the tree as I should say, the tree didn't mind as Eclipsetess groomed the branch's of bugs. She then lowered her head onto a branch as she began to sleep. And dreaming peacefully was a strength as she could hear anything still going on.

Anyways, Azulia came back from foraging as Smoke galloped to her as she bucked a little bit before stopping and running back into the herd, Azulia then chased her a little bit as she brought some more herbs to the herb nest that Snow had setted up for only the herbs that they collected.

Meanwhile Grey Cloud was off looking at the sky as the stars started to show more, then she started graphing the amazing phenomenon, Scorn also saw the phenomenon as well, he then was used to it anyways. Smoke just continued to buck wildly as Azulia also started bucking away, she enjoyed the feeling of youngness as a filly.

     Solstice could read, yes. It was one of the few things that she knew how to do. Well that was because she taught herself without anyone finding out. Maybe she wasn't as dumb as she thought she was if she was able to outsmart her birth herd. Even as a filly. On most nights, Solstice would sneak over where they stored their books. Solstice was a unicorn of the night, so you really had to look for her due to her dark colored coat. 

     After grabbing a book, Solstice would find a spot that the moon shined enough light to allow her to read. She did it for hours some nights, and no one ever caught her. Though it took her awhile to actually learn how to read. Oh well doesn't matter anymore. She could read, and it actually came to be useful with this book. The books she had read where nothing like the one she was currently reading. They were just fairy tales. Stories that she didn't think were true. Not informational like this one. 

     Although her birth herd did have some informational books, Solstice stayed away from them. She knew if she would slip and say something that they didn't want her to know about, then they'd figure she had been reading. Maybe Solstice was a lot smarter then everyone thought, herself included. This book was only going to help with that. That is if she could ever read all of it. The more she read the more she realized just how long the book was.

     Solstice just continued to read trying to keep other thoughts from entering her head so she could focus on the book. Though whenever she tried to use the tip of her horn to turn the page, the book beat her to it. Every time she seemed perplexed, but also amused. Since Solstice wasn't very knowledgeable or even seen magic done much, seeing it amused her and she loved it. 

     After what seemed like eternity, Solstice had only read a few chapters. Well bummer. She thought she had read a lot more then that. At least this "pop quiz" wasn't until she was done reading the book. Solstice just didn't think her brain could carry everything she'd read from the book, but she would do the best she could. Over time Solstice seemed to be reading faster and faster, but it took her awhile to notice it. Was it some sort of magic, or just her getting better at reading? Who knows.

     Occasionally Solstice would take a couple minutes to look around. She ended up looking up at Eclipsetess noticing how it seemed she had fallen asleep on the branch. Soon Azulia and Smoke came back seeming to be having a good time. She watched them for a few before glancing at the sky. She actually flew. Maybe not perfectly, but she did. Why didn't she leave her birth herd sooner? Oh yeah...the fright of being alone constantly when danger could be anywhere.

     After those few minutes, Solstice looked at the book once more. It was then that she noticed the doll that Eclipsetess made. How she didn't see it sooner she had no idea. It looked familiar to her. That's it! The doll looked just like her! Solstice smiled before she got back to reading. Solstice seemed to enjoy not having to hide everything she did. Such as reading. Now she was free to read whenever, wherever.

When Eclipsetess woke up as she stretched her wings out and stretched her body, she then glided down onto the ground carefully, making sure Solstice was still reading, though she did wander around to find something for Solstice to eat and eat herself.

Then she stumbled upon some apples, she had Solstice stop reading so she could eat something, she then gave Solstice three apples to munch on while she read, she kept the remaining three herself. Then she flew back up to her perch on the branch and started eating while she was making another doll.

While Eclipsetess was making her other doll, and while watching over Solstice, Azulia was laying down as she closed her amber eyes and kept her head up, Smoke was curious of Snow but she laid down by Azulia as the mare watched over the herd from an angle. Then Azulia and Smoke laid their heads down and drifted off to sleep, just as a nap.

Snow then started gather herbs and hay as shewas beginning to make bandages for any wounds, and of course scratches as well, Scorn just looked at his herd as he smiled gratefully, then Ivoula walked up next to Scorn as her coat was a little warm and she needed something a little chilly on her coat.

Scorn didn't mind as he looked towards and up at Eclipsetess before looking down to Solstice, he smiled happily then went back to watching the horizon, the sun warm and wind was blowing perfectly to create the fall time coming. Though there was no need yet, they had everything they needed for now.

Then as Eclipsetess finished her second doll, she then quickly flew off of the branch and towards a random mare to give her her doll that Eclipsetess made, Azulia watched Solstice while Eclipsetess was off somewhere, then Eclipsetess flew back to her branch and looked down at Solstice. Azulia brought her head back to where she originally had her head.

Then Scorn turned his head and began walking into his herd, he laid down in his spot where the sun would shine, the mares respected his spot and laid down next to him, keeping him warm even though he had a coat full of hair and was automatically warm. But he didn't mind.
