Vinn shook her head, “Me too, there was still so much to do.” The groom placed Vinn in her stall, and Snow in hers. “I sure hope they don’t send anyone to wash the mud off, it’s rather nice.” As Vinn was talking, a maintenance man walked in and started working on Vinn’s stall latch. “What’s this guy doing?” Vinn watched curiously as the man took the latch off her door- and Vinn got excited... Until he put a much more complex looking latch in it’s place. “Great, just when I was getting good at the last one.”

Snow gave a small rear and extended her head towards the maintenance guy and flapped her lips, trying to grab at one of his tools. Finally, she managed to grab a weird, long metal thing with two prongs. She held it high and threw it as far as she could to the opposite side of the stable, nickering in a taunting manner.

Diva was led into the stable when she saw Snow throw the tool. Alaina shut the stall door once the filly was in. Her leg didn't bother her much due to the water soothing the pain. She just stood in her stall not saying anything. Her body ached to go and gallop racing with the wind. Diva was depressed, and still weak. The filly didn't pay any attention to the others.

Snow looked at Diva and neighed in greeting. "Where did Alaina take you out to? How is your leg doing?" She asked. The filly paid no mind to the maintenance guy and instead focused all her attention on Diva.

Diva didn't turn to face or look at Snow, "The pool," she said, "Fine I guess." The filly laid down on her stall. Hey legs and stomach were still wet from the pool. Even though the pool may have eased the pain, she didn't enjoy it. Not one bit.

Snow became a little worried when Diva didn't look at her. "Are you okay? You seem to be a little out of it. I understand if you don't want to tell me, of course!" She quickly added.

Diva's tone went a bit harsh and rude the next time she spoke, "I'm fine." She just felt like she couldn't do anything, and that she was helpless. The filly may of been weak, depressed, and injured, but she didn't like everyone acting like she couldn't do anything.

Vinn didn’t intrude on the conversation until Diva added the rather rude remark. Vinn saw the light in Snow’s eyes flicker, and Vinn wasn’t much of a fan of her sour attitude. “Diva, stop pittying yourself. You will be back out on that track in a months time and you sit in that stall and think about what you could be or what you would have been all. day. long. You aren’t useless and you aren’t dying. Stop acting like you’ll never be able to race again. You will, and if you believed in yourself at all you would know that. Snow is trying to help you, ask you how you are, and you shut her down. Stop shutting us out. Take the help, it doesn’t make you any lesser.” Vinn was agitated, and turned away in her stall to munch on some hay. She knew Diva didn’t like to be checked on, or the attention- but these people and horses were trying to help her, and Vinn didn’t want Diva to run out of options one day because she shut everyone out. Soon Nia came to fetch Vinn, and she left without a word.

Snow had turned away from both Diva and Vinn, and she was now busily chewing on some hay. She didn't dare look back at Diva, or anywhere but the ground, for that matter. She hadn't know that Diva felt like that. She hadn't known Diva would feel annoyed when Snow would check on her. Does she feel that way every time I ask her how she's doing, she wondered silently. She hoped it wasn't true, but there wasn't any way to tell, and she wasn't going to go about asking Diva. Snow stayed silent for a long moment until she saw someone opening her stall door out of the corner of her eye. It was one of the horse exercisers. He quickly clipped on a lead rope to Snow's halter and led her out, making sure he closed the stall door.
About 15 minutes later, Snow was walking along a round pen fence. She was in no mood to mess around with the exerciser, and so she did as he asked. He found it quite odd that she wasn't acting as she usually did, and Snow heard him voicing his concern a couple of times, but she paid no mind, opting to focus on what she was doing.

Diva got up and turned around in her stall sticking her head out of the stall, "You have no idea what I've been through Vinn. Stuff that you never want to know that a horse went through." The filly sighed, "I'm sorry alright. I've never had anyone care about me, so it's difficult for me. It's all just bringing me back to my old home. In similar, yet worse times. You guys are lucky, always having someone who cared, and watched out for you. I've never had that," she paused,"I've never had friends..." She didn't dare to try and look at them, so she just turned back around in her stall hanging her head down low to the ground, and sighed.
She was once again alone when the others were brought out of the stable. After awhile, she turned back around in her stall hanging her head out of the stall. What was she going to do now? Diva looked out of the stable seeing Snow. What have I done? she thought to herself; I ruined the first and now only friendships I've ever had.

After Snow was worked long and hard, to the point her legs ached and her breathing was ragged, she was washed and put in her stable for the last time that day. Although she was still upset with Diva, she knew she couldn't stay mad at her forever, and she would have to talk to her at some point. So she put her brave face on and looked right at Diva. "Look, I'm a little mad and upset about what you said earlier, I'll admit, but I won't blame you. You went through things I'd probably never understand, and I won't pretend I do. So, I forgive you. But... You need to try. I can help you, and Vinn might too, but you need to put in the work if you want to keep friends. It's a team thing, and you need to do your part."

Vinn was being put in her stall just as Snow began talking. Vinn agreed completely with Snow, and thought she put it a good way. Although Vinn did want to help Diva out- and definitely would, Vinn stayed quiet. She found herself in the more covered part of her stall, where she couldn’t see out and no one could see in. Normal Vinn would choose to stand practically hanging over the door, and this was definitely a downgrade. Vinn got bored of that quickly, and paced around her stall at random. A plus of living at a fancy ranch- large stalls. Vinn signed, bored of the silence but not willing to speak up.

Diva sighed, and looked at Snow, "I don't know what being a friend is," she paused, "But, I'll at least try..." the filly spoke quietly. The filly slowly turned back around in her stall, and looked at Vinn. "Vinn.....I'm sorry I lashed out on you. It's just mainly my old home that has me down," she paused again,"I used racing to hide what was really having me down. Yes, I wish I could be racing right now, but it was mainly my past, my old home. I'm sorry..." Diva looked at Vinn a moment after she stopped talking, then looked back at Snow before turning around in her stall once again.

Snow was very satisfied with that. "Thank you. You put in the work, we will too. And the concept of being a friend isn't hard. Being a friend means being there for those who need you. Just... be yourself" Snow went over to her haynet and began eating, as it had been refilled a couple hours prior. When she was done, she cozied up in the corner of her stall, left to her own thoughts.

Diva looked at Snow, and smiled a bit. Be myself? The only self I have is being rude and mean. She let Snow enjoy her meal, and so did she. The filly wasn't eating much, but she did eat some. Diva laid down in her stall a few hours later, and fell asleep. It was the first night where she actually slept peacefully? But why? She didn't know, but it felt nice to finally sleep peacefully.
A few days later, and it was the day Diva wasn't happy about. She was turned around in her stall facing the opposite way. Diva pinned her ears back when she heard the vet's truck pulled up. Alaina opened her stall, and the filly turned around. It took a minute or two before Alaina could attach the lead rope to her halter. Diva pulled against the lead rope, she reared being more careful about her leg even though she could put more weight on it.
