Torpid Void

Harper
"Yeah... so where exactly are we?" Harper brought her knees to her chest and traced a pattern on her knee nervously.

Louis 
Stay calm or you'll just freak her out. "It's still the same day. This is your room. I got a house. Mason, Alice, and Rowan are gonna live here too, I think. If you don't remember them, they were all at the pole you were chained to when I got here. They haven't shown up to the house yet. Aerow is mentoring me and you and I went to the edge of town. She showed me some stuff and you collapsed on the way back to the house. I carried you here, put you on the bed, then I have some missing memory - Fay thinks I touched your hand, which had gone black - and Aerow had gotten Fay so she came and helped you." 

Harper
"Oh, so I passed out?" Harper remembered how Shane had a few moments where he would pass out, not remembering anything after he woke up. Whenever he did remember, he'd normally freak out when he woke, though for the most part he just didn't remember. Harper hadn't experienced that, so she doubted that was the case.

Louis 
"Not exactly. You were conscious at certain times, others you weren't."

Harper
"Oh..." Harper rested her chin on her knees, letting her hand drop down to her side. "Okay then."

Louis 
"If you need anything yell for me, okay? I'm going to be in the next room over." Louis stood and walked over to his room. He quietly closed the door and sat on the floor in the corner, facing the room. Everything that had happened had finally caught up to him, leaving him feeling quite overwhelmed and a little hopeless. He'd set goals for himself that were possibly too high to reach, but the problem was if he didn't he would rot away here. He swiped at his eyes bitterly. I'm pathetic and weak. I shouldn't be so frustrated right now. 

Harper
Harper watched Louis go, silently wishing he'd just stay there with her. She was scared, which she didn't like being, and being alone made her feel more uncomfortable. As she laid back down, she buried her face against the mattress and started softly crying, hoping that maybe one of her parents would somehow show up to comfort her.

Louis 
I've been through worse. I don't know what the deal is. I need to get it together. Louis drew in a shuddering breath, staring at the floor. He formed smoke in his hand and watched as it shifted into the form of a ball. He chucked it at the wall, following the path of its bounce. He threw it for a while, ending with a weak throw that just bumped the far wall and rolled to the center of the room. He sighed heavily. 

Harper
Harper didn'rt really know whatbshe was going to do at this point. She was in another place she was now unfamiliar with, she had met people she couldn't remember, Louis was being taught something- what was it?- and she couldn't figure it all out.

Louis
Look at me, being all sad and miserable. He pulled himself to his feet and glanced at the ball laying on the floor. "Huh. I made something." Louis just stood there pulling himself together before finally opening his door. Originally he was going to go get a glass of water, but the faint sounds drifting out of Harper's room caught his attention. Frowning slightly, he crossed to her door and peered inside. Oh. She's crying. Louis stepped inside and crossed over to her bed. Glancing around, he didn't find a chair, so he just sat on the very edge of her mattress. He felt awkward and wasn't sure what to say. 

Harper
Harper laid there for a moment, staring out in front of her. She knew Louis was there now, which made her feel like she should've stopped crying and sucked it all up, but instead she sat up, throwing her arms around Louis' neck and crying into his shoulder miserably.

Louis
That was not what he had expected. He sat there, stunned, for a second before hugging Harper. He had a sudden image in his head of Donovan's little girl (he had two kids, a boy and a girl, twins) the one day when Don had Louis watch them for him. Sierra had fallen while playing with her brother outside and had hit her head on a rock. Louis bit his lip, reminded once more that Harper had a family that she needed to get back to. "It'll be alright. I know it seems really bad right now but it'll get better."

"I want to go home," Harper managed, her body trembling with the force of crying. She felt a little ashamed of herself for being so vulnerable.

Louis
Me too. "I'm working on it. I'll get you back, okay? I promise." And if I can't fulfill that promise... Well, I won't let that happen. I'm going to get her home.

Harper
Harper nodded as well as she could, though the fear kept pricking mercilessly at her.
