"If I would have known before, I wouldn't be in this city." Skye sighed when she failed to sit up. "Get over here. I need to sit up, or it's literally going to take hours for my right side to come to its programmed senses. Anyway- thanks to my not-completely-human existence, my processing system can't handle extreme changes or emotions very well, so to keep me from dying via it dying, it reboots itself."

"Oh, um, okay. What do you want me to do?" Ash came up to the bed, tucking the key into his pocket. The door closed and locked as he stepped away.

Skye 
Skye extended her left hand. "Just pull me up and I'll do the rest. My right side is useless at the moment." 

Ash
He took her hand and pulled her up, trying not to be too rough. "Does this happen often?"

Skye
"Oh, you know, just when life happens and it catches me off guard. Last one was... two years ago? They used to be more frequent when I was getting used to not being... completely me anymore." The sitting position was much better, and Skye's range of movement was steadily increasing. "Question- why are you still here? It doesn't take half an hour to remember that my eyes are different than hers by a small detail. Not that I mind, but..." Skye shrugged. Good- that was a possible thing now. I'll be back to normal soon, minus a few personal details that were secret.

Ashwin
"Honestly, I'm not sure. Curiosity? My turn for a question - why did you tell me all that?"

Skye 
"Well, it's not like I could have knocked you out and left, which is what I usually do when people get curious. And I only tell lies when I can make them convincing." And other reasons I refuse to acknowledge because that would require focused thinking.

Ashwin
He laughed, stepping back toward the door. "Well I can leave if you want me to." I have errands to run at some point today. Though I guess I don't need to go see Desiree, so it's not too big a rush.

Skye 
Skye shrugged. "Would it be possible to convince you to leave the keys by the door? It's not like I'll be able to walk very well for at least an hour." Skye said this with a hint of amusement. He's a dedicated rule follower. Still, I want to see if he isn't completely hopeless.

Ashwin
"Sorry, no can do. I have to turn it back in." He unlocked the door. "See you later, Skye." He exited and closed the door, relocking it. 

Skye 
As I thought. At least I tried, Skye thought, experimentally trying to stand, although putting most of her weight on her left leg. It didn't quite work and her right leg gave out on her, but it was worth a try. Patience. It's not going to come back immediately.

Ashwin
He reentered the observation room, handing the key to the official there. He saluted and walked out. His shift was over, so he was now free to do what he needed to. Ash headed for the grocery store that the man had stolen the cheese from. He dropped off a donation that came to the exact worth of a block of cheese and then continued walking to arrive at another grocer's. He preferred this one, simply because it had better quality items. It was also more pricey, but that was to be expected. It was in the area of town most of the higher-ups lived in. Ash entered and bought some bread, milk, strawberries, a small chicken, and a few pieces of small candy. He took the bag, paid for the food, and walked to the other side of town. Walking was good for him, helped him stay in shape. Not that he needed to do extra walking, since they were required to have certain hours at the gym daily. Ash found the address and carefully placed the bag on the door. He knocked, then sprinted a good distance away. He was already around the bend by the time the door opened. Inside was the poor family whose father had encountered Ash earlier with stolen cheese. 

Nyla
She adjusted the bag on her back. It was getting a little heavy. Probably the rocks. But she would never give those up. Nyla breathed in the scent of the flowers. They were nice, she was glad the storekeeper didn't give her a refund. Nyla arrived at Jonah's house and knocked on the door. She explained her predicament to Jonah's mother, and they welcomed her inside. "You won't tell my momma where I'm at, will you?" Nyla asked, worried. The couple exchanged glances and then shook their heads. "Not unless you want us to." Nyla sighed with relief and shrugged the heavy bag off. "Thank you!" Jonah came running down the stairs and looked around, confused. When his parents told him Nyla would be staying with them for a while he grinned and jumped around excitedly. Nyla was glad to have left home.

She whittled boredly at a piece of wood with her knife, sitting hidden in the shadows while she made her carving.

After a few more tries, standing was doable, and her right arm was back to normal. Getting there. Not as close as I'd like.

Another officer spoke into his transmitter, and Ashwin glanced at his with slight surprise. He must have forgotten to turn it off. He reached to do so when he paused, listening. The patrolman was in need of reinforcement. There had been a group of at least three rebels messing around with stuff. It was nearby, so Ash decided to head over. His technical shift was over, but they were always on duty. He arrived at the location and glanced around for the other patrolman. There he was. Ash approached him. "Where are the signs?" The patrolman led Ash to some upturned crates - all this just within the restricted area. Ash bent and examined them. "I think we should call for a detective to be dispatched," the other man - Titus, a newer recruit - said. Ash nodded, slightly distracted. "They looked in the crates first," he said, feeling along the top rim. They had been shoved back into place, but the seal was definitely broken. Ash pried one open and peered inside. "Nothing missing. Must not have been what they wanted." So they shoved the crates over in frustration and then... what? What were they looking for? Ash stood and studied the scene. The crates simply held extra utility belts. His eyes flickered to the storage unit's label. J4. There had been a recent shuffle of where things were kept. J4 used to hold excess tasers, but those had been moved to a more secure storage unit. So that's what they were looking for. "Whoever it is is trying to get their hands on the tasers. They must have gotten their hands on a storage unit plan from before the shuffle." Titus looked away from his transmitter - he was talking to the dispatchers - shrugged, and continued what he was doing. Where would they have gone next? 

Nyla
Jonah was showing her around the house. He was super excited, and had even asked his parents if Nyla was his sister now. Nyla had giggled and his parents had laughed, but Nyla had been pleased when they didn't say no. Jonah was currently giving her a tour of his room. "This is my bed, and this is my dresser. And this is where I keep all my toys, but some of them are on the floor because my room's a little messy right now." Jonah led her out and down the hall. "That's my parents room, but I don't go in. It's sort of boring. Unlike my room." Jonah grinned and then kept walking.
