Only The Strong Survive

Ahanu 
"Thanks," he replied, smiling a little. "I'm sure it will be, at least someday." 

Charity
"Someday..." Charity repeated, resting her head against his shoulder again. That seemed like a long time for Charity, and she was hoping that someday was today for her. And yet I know when I get back it'll all start hurting again.

Ahanu 
"Hey, I think you should talk to Auberon as soon as we get back. Do you want me to be there or would you rather I'm not?"

Charity
Charity swallowed and winced slightly at the thought. "I- uh... I'd prefer you to be there..." she mumbled. "But I'd ultimately prefer to just not do the whole thing."

Ahanu 
"Avoiding conflict just causes more of it to pile up until you can't ignore it. Hopefully this will help things." Ahanu paused, noticing again how this topic seemed to upset her. "Hey, guess what?"

Charity
Charity listened to Ahanu, trying her best to understand and agree with what he was saying, but she found it hard to do so. She switched her mind to what he said last instead. "What?"

Ahanu 
"I love you." Ahanu started to tilt his head down but froze. His mind screamed accusations and doubts at him. After a small shake of the head, he gave Charity a brief kiss. A compromise, then. Satisfied? 

Charity
Charity smiled at him. "Love you too."

Ahanu 
"So what do you want to do now?"

Charity
"Whatever you want is fine with me," she mumbled.

Ahanu 
"Doesn't matter to me, which is why I asked you," he said with a smile, leaning against the wall again.

Charity
"I don't care what we do- I just want to be with you," Charity replied.

Ahanu 
She's just manipulating you. "Hmm... We could stay here or we could ride around the woods for a bit. Which do you want to do?"

Charity
"We can stay here, I guess."

Ahanu 
"Sounds good. Anything you want to talk about?"
