Only The Strong Survive

Ahanu 
"Oh, maybe. How will we know which one belongs to which horse?" 

Charity
"If you take each horse into a stall, you can sometimes get a general idea of which one went where besed off how they react to it."

Ahanu 
"Oh, cool." Ahanu looked down at Charity and thought a moment. Honestly, I'm so confused. So all this is real, but yet... not? I'm so emotionally tired right now and I don't think I can fully process it in my current state. And to be honest, I'm not as selfless as she probably thinks I am. Yeah, my main priority is her happiness. I want her and Auberon to mend their relationship. I want her to know she can trust people and care about people. But I also want to be a part of her life, I want to be able to hold her, I want her to care about me... is that selfish? He closed his eyes briefly, tried to think about something else, failed. Ahanu opened his eyes again and sighed quietly to himself, looking at the legs of the chairs and desk. His gaze flicked to Charity. I don't know what to think right now. My emotions have been a rollercoaster and I just want some peace from my own mind and from the craziness for once. He studied Charity a moment, then leaned down and brushed her forehead with his lips.

Charity
Charity's eyes fluttered shut, a small smile playing across her lips.

Ahanu
He grimaced at the accusing thoughts that jumped into his mind. Ahanu lifted his head and glanced around the room. Can I not have some peace? Not even for a few moments? 

Charity
"You alright?" Charity asked quietly, her body going almost completely limp as she relaxed.

Ahanu 
"Yeah, mostly. I'm tired, so my mind won't leave me alone." 

Charity
"Then go to sleep," she mumbled, the softness of her voice making it harder to decipher what she was saying.

Ahanu 
"Not that kind of tired," Ahanu replied with a chuckle. 

Charity
"What kind of tired is there that sleep can't fix?" Charity asked. Sleeping had always been the answer to any of her problems- she couldn't imagine a form of tiredness that couldn't be remedied by sleep.

Ahanu
"Emotional exhaustion. Mental. Sometimes physical. It depends on the person, I guess."

Charity
"Hmm..." Charity let one of her hands drop down to Ahanu's other shoulder, resting it lightly there and beginning to trace random patterns on the side of his neck.

Ahanu 
He froze, then allowed himself to relax a little bit. "Have you told me your favorite color yet?" Ahanu shifted his arm so it was in a more natural position (she did move, after all, and he had been thinking so hard he hadn't really adjusted his arm; he only remembered to shift it because it was starting to cramp). 

Charity
"No, I haven't... but I guess it's probably green," she mumbled.

Ahanu 
"Green is nice." He leaned back against the wall and closed his eyes. This is surprisingly comfortable.
