"That's really interesting." Aline thought about it for a couple seconds and then half-shrugged with a small smile. "I can't come up with any explanation, though." 

Auberon
"I suppose one day I'll figure it out." And maybe figure out why I have an obsession with listening to people's breathing, and why I can block everything else out just to hear it. 

Aline
"I'd be interested in the explanation when you do." Aline shifted again, her eyes darting to the door. "Hasn't it been a while? I would think they would have brought her down by now..."

Auberon
Auberon looked up at the door then at Aline. "I'm sure she's fine," he reassured, though he wasn't sure it sounded reassuring.

Aline
I hope so. Aline tucked her hair behind her ear. Should have worn a ponytail. She wondered absently if her dog made it home, if her family had told the police, if people were searching for her. She couldn't wait to get out. They had told her she would be leaving soon, and she wondered when that would be. Aline also hoped the others would be allowed to leave, too, though she doubted it. At least not at the same time she was. They had come later, and it appeared the gang (she had learned, by listening to the new prisoners, that that was what these people were) wanted something from them.

Auberon glanced over at Aline, asking a simple, but overly-important question: "Do you like checkers?"

"I've never played it. I first heard about it after moving here. It looks like it might be fun, but I don't understand it." Aline shrugged. Nobody had ever explained the game to her, she had just seen people play it on occasion.

Auberon stopped spinning his dagger and glared at the wall in front of him. Hmmm... I'm not sure I can talk to her ever again...
"I can explain it to you sometime if you want?" he offered, starting his dagger-spinning again.

Brooklynn 
This was just a bad idea all around. Brooke scolded herself as she paced the length and width of the room.

Aline
"I'd like that. My father has taken to trying out new games, maybe I can show him once I know." 

Auberon
"Guess you could," Auberon said, still not looking up at her. He sort of wanted to ask what it was like having a dad around, but he didn't bother to ask; it would probably just hurt him anyway.

Aline
Aline glanced at the door again before staring at the floor, thinking. All this talk of Brazil made her miss her old home almost as much as she had when she had first moved up here. It was her fault, anyway, for bringing up Maria and Alejandro, her horse and the plantation. 

Auberon
Auberon threw his dagger aimlessly at the wall, only thinking after he'd done it that might attract attention. "Prisoners are having a fit," he mumbled with a chuckle as he got up to retrieve his dagger.

Aline
"You could bend your dagger doing that," Aline said without looking up. The walls were pretty solid (brick or cement, she hadn't checked to see which one since it was usually so dark in here). 

Auberon
Auberon looked over at Aline and tilted his head curiously. "You know anything about daggers?"
