Outlaw
“Your dog” she corrected, shifting the pup to a position where he could take it. “And it’s technically still a puppy. Only 10 months”

Beau
He blinked, surprised, and then carefully took the puppy, holding it gently but firmly so it felt secure. Beau fondled one of the puppy's ears and it looked up at him. Every other dog you've had died for you. Would you really subject this one to that fate? Beau glanced up and opened his mouth to apologize and hand back the large pup when it wiggled enough to lick his chin. "Male or female?" was what he ended up saying instead.

“Female. Wolf Newfoundland cross.” She supplied, pulling the pop out of her pocket and carefully opening it as a wave of tiredness hit her. She stifled a yawn after she took a sip. Getting close it seemed like.

Beau
"Well, uh, th-thanks," he replied, returning his attention to the small canine. Beau ran his hand along her soft fur, detangling a couple knots with his fingers. "You're going to get real big, huh, girl?" Beau murmured with a tiny smile. Dontgetattachedturnitdowntheresstilltimethiswontendwell- what should I name her?

“Take good care of her aye?” She said with the slightest of grins as she turned to go. She needed to go hunt up some coffee or something that was stronger then pop. Or maybe burn herself again, or hurt herself in some other way. That could work.

Kaylee
Kaylee tugged on Mason's sleeve, interrupting his trainwreck thoughts to fling herself at him in a bear hug, in what could only be called a very Kaylee fashion. "Thanks." She murmured, yawning.
Floyd
Floyd stood when he was free of the girl, leaning into James' side and taking his hand once more. "M'sorry I freaked out." He mumbled, glancing over.

Mason
Mason wasn't really keen on hugging people, but he returned Kaylee's hug.
"You aren't allowed to die again, remember? You'll be gone entirely if that happens," he murmured, his voice sounding as emotionally drained as he felt.
James
James didn't respond immediately, too distracted with watching Mason and Kaylee. They're like me and- Let's not think about that right now, James.
"Um, what- Oh, it's... it's fine." Good one. Now he knows you weren't paying attention to him. "Fireflies?" he asked, looking up at Floyd hopefully.

Kaylee
"I know." She mumbled, pulling back a little from where she had propped her chin on his shoulder. "But I don't want to live whatever life I have left in fear. I'm going to fade one day, and there's nothing you, Floyd, or anyone else can do about it. But I'm fine right now, so I'm just going to exist to the best of my abilities until my time comes." She grinned, mock punching Mason' arm and breaking the serious tone the conversation had taken. "And beside, who could even handle being around you all eternity?"
Floyd
Floyd laughed, ruffling James'hair playfully. "Yes James, we can go and find the fireflies after this."

Beau
"Mhm," he hummed in reply, not paying too much mind to Outlaw anymore. He did note when she slipped away, and at that point Beau walked across the clearing and entered the trees again near the beech tree. He sat down cross-legged and pet the puppy, considering what he should name her. She had curled up comfortably in his lap and was looking up at him with big brown eyes from where her head rested on his leg. "What should I call you?" he murmured, studying her. It felt good to have a dog again, though the fear of losing it lingered. After some thought, Beau finally thought he may have come up with a name. "Rhyme." She thumped her tail slightly and Beau smiled. "Rhyme it is then." Time flew by and Beau pulled out the music player to check the time. Only 2 AM, he had an hour. Suddenly Rhyme started growling, and Beau chuckled at the cute little sound it made. Rhyme wagged her tail once at the sound and licked his chin, then continued growling. Beau assumed there was some sort of animal around that she wanted to chase, but so far she had made no move to run away. Suddenly the canine barked and lunged her head over his shoulder before he managed to gently stop her from going. Now he wondered if there was someone behind him, and he went to turn around. Something slammed into the side of his head and for a moment the world spun before he fell sideways onto the forest floor and everything went black.

Mason
He laughed weakly, wanting to come up with a retort but unable to, so he instead decided to darken the mood again. "What's it like? Knowing that you could die any day? Because," He gestured at himself, "I don't appear to be going anywhere any time soon. And since my physical form has started aging slower over the years... at this point, I'm half convinced I'm immortal."

Outlaw
She went over to the deepest part of the forest and settled herself under a tree, completely comfortable in the almost stifling darkness. Harder to be detected, the way she figured. She pulled out her knife.

Beau
He came to in a brightly lit room, sitting in a chair. Immediately he noted the table in front of him and a plastic cup. Rhyme was at his feet, leaning against his ankles. Sitting across the table was an older lady. "Well, look who decided to wake up," she smiled, folding her hands on the table. "What's your name?"
Beau's face was an emotionless mask, like the one he often used in combat. "Who are you?" he retorted quietly, "and why am I here?"
The lady shook her head and clucked her tongue as if disappointed. "My name's Mildred. You are here because I was asked to bring you here."
"Who-" Beau started to ask, but Mildred cut him off.
"That is an answer for another time. Now, I believe I asked for your name."
"Beau," he replied after a hesitation.
"Beau. Interesting," Mildred muttered to herself, then glanced down at the dog at his feet. "Don't worry, dear. You can keep your dog with you, I have a soft spot for furry animals."
"But -"
"Hush now, I'm talking." Mildred paused and studied him a moment. "You have been through quite a lot of hardship, haven't you?" She waved her hand dismissively. "No need to answer that, I know. Now, over the years I have created a drink that can take unwanted memories away. It's right there, on the table. You can try it if you'd like." Beau glanced at it but made no move to pick it up. Mildred leaned over and pushed it closer. "Come now, you'll be happier if you do. What is something you would rather not remember?"
Father. Beau inwardly groaned at the instant thought. He didn't trust this lady, and he didn't want to go along with her. "I see you have something. Just try a sip." Mildred stood and walked around the table, picking up the cup and holding it out to him. Beau slowly took it, glancing from the cup to Mildred and back again. It wouldn't hurt to try some, would it? His movements were painstakingly slow, but he raised the cup to his mouth and gradually tilted it until a tiny bit slipped into his mouth and down his throat. Memories of his father slipped away, and as each painful word left his mind Beau did, in fact, feel a bit better. The memories all slipped away, until finally the memory of being kicked out of the house at six years old slid into oblivion. Beau started to lower the cup when his encounter with the pack grew near in his memories, but Mildred's hand was there and tilted the cup up once more. "Drink, dear. The damage is already done but I've found the more you drink the process is faster." Beau's eyes widened and he glanced into the cup for the first time. The white liquid revealed the true nature of what he was drinking - River Lethe. Mildred laughed as the realization crossed his face. Beau tried to yank the cup away, but the old woman was stronger than she appeared. Soon his entire memories of the stray pack were drowned, and then meeting Gavin. Beau's struggles had diminished as he had withdrawn into his mind, running from the water trying to drown all the things that mattered to him. His efforts were useless, however, and by the time Mildred set the cup on the table almost everything was gone. The waters in his mind swept away the battle, and Gavin's death. Meeting Ollie drowned as well, and still the water advanced. Receiving Rhyme was soon covered, and Beau was empty.

Kaylee
"Hm." Kaylee let out a thoughtful little sound, trying to form a coherent string of words to explain what not really living was like. "Well, it's certainly.... interesting? Where as other people have good days and bad days, I have 'oh my god this is it I'm going to die' days and every other day."

Beau
"Hello, dear, can you hear me?" Beau looked up at the voice and saw a woman. Confusion flickered on his face as he looked around, unsure of his surroundings. "I found you outside, with your dog," she gestured to the bundle of fur at his feet. "Do you know your name?" Beau paused, and fear slithered into his mind as he realized he didn't know his name. He slowly shook his head. "That's what I thought," the woman murmured. "I think you have amnesia, dear. Were you in an accident?"
"I-I don't know."
The woman nodded thoughtfully. "You were mumbling 'Beau,' so that might be it. What do you think?" Beau shrugged, unsure. "Oh, well. We'll go with it. My name is Mildred. Why don't we get you into the house. It's getting very late, and I imagine you're tired." She stood and Beau followed suit, stooping to pick up the puppy. She wagged her tail, which made Beau relieved. It must be his dog. What was her name? He couldn't remember, so he'd have to name her again. Beau followed Mildred into the house. The older woman led Beau to a guest room near the back, said good night, and disappeared into the house somewhere. Beau closed the door and sat down on the edge of the bed. The puppy squirmed out of his hands and jumped onto the bed beside him, thumping her tail on the sheets.

Outlaw
She carefully sharpened her knife on the tree she was leaning against then stood up and etched a target board on the tree across from her. She then practiced her throwing skills, cutting herself up quite a bit on the process. This way if anyone asked she could say it was an accident.
