*"Pure" Crossbreeds

#90075 Posted on 2017-01-30 13:53:24

I have never been against crossbreeding. In fact I love the idea... My only pause was how hard it would be to add(art/coding proper cross percentages/etc). Me personally, I LOVE morabs, quarabs, and NSH.. oh wait I like too many to list here. hehe.

I really can't wait to see if this goes anywhere!

(What am I saying.. I already have too many pons! xD)

I fully, 100%, support this. I just love this idea. And while I would totally support all breeds, if not most of them, I would love to see Morabs introduced. Of course, I probably would hoard them all, though. Like Warlanders and National Show Horses. cx

It might be nice to add this feature before adding actual new breeds, since a number of crosses can be made with existing breeds. It is still like adding new breeds as far as the excitement goes.

What about cross breeds that could be A+B=C, but A+D=C as well?
Warlanders were brought up, they're an Iberian horse crossed with a Friesian. For now it would be easy as you could just do AndyxFries, but what if Lusitanos were ever added back in? (and I have to admit, I hope they eventually do as they're one of my faves)
AndyxFries as well as LusixFries both create Warlanders, how would something like this be handled?
I'm sure there's more breeds like this but this is the only one coming to mind at the moment. It's been a long day lol

I support the idea of crossbreeding to make breeds that actually exist. Random crossbreeding however I don't support.

I support the addition of crossbreeds, so long as all crossbreeds remain crossbred no matter the percentage. I'd even be alright with completely ignoring the percentages involved, and simply know that they are just whatever the crossbreed breed is. So arab x tb = Anglo arab, and could be bred to any of the three, the percentage of Arab to tb wouldn't matter too much at that point, at least within the game, since you could never un-crossbreed it anyway, and the art would always be the crossbred art.

That being said, it's not like knowing the precent age of each breed would hurt anything either.

I definitely support limited crossbreeding like this. Not only does it add new breeds, but it encourages outbreeding with other users.

I love the idea of crossbreeding!! However, I think a 25%, 50%, and 75% system would be plenty complex. I think after that the percents would just be confusing. I also would love to have breeds that include Andalusians and Shetlands, as those are my main breeds. I saw Warlanders mentioned. I'm so exited for future breeds and pure crossbreeds!

I'd love to see a Clydesdale appaloosa cross or something similar. Crossbreeds with drafts can result in more colors while still having that large frame, helping with the feeling of lack of diversity in the draft area.

@SilverWolves: Pure crossbreeds would likely only cover crosses that make actual real life breeds such as arabianXthoroughbred=anglo-arabian or andalusianXquarter horse=azteca. A clydeXappy cross doesn't appear to make a true breed.

^ Apparently an appaloosa crossed with any draft horse (e.g. clydesdale, GV, friesian) is a Stonewall Sport Horse.

That's good to know UB :) I was looking into Drum horses last night to try and write a list of my priorities (mostly to vary away from Arabians for the first few crossbreeds) which are GVxClydesdale OR GVxShire. I like the sound of Stonewall Sport Horse, definitely gives the drafts another option.

Thanks, Abbey. I actually put this crossbreed list together before I saw your above post. Good to know Drum horses are being considered. Unfortunately I'm no longer convinced Stonewall Sport Horses are a real breed. I've been trying to do a bit of research into them, but there's very little in the way of resources for them, so it could be they're not a recognised breed after all.

Subscribed to that topic, thank you! Crossbreeds probably won't be added for a while but it'll be good to have a list already prepared haha.
