*Horse Name Prefix

Yeah, but some people like to have their stables initials or a cool symbol associated with their horses. like a brand on a real, registered horse.

I, too, play another (dog) game where you can register a unique kennel prefix. I would love to see something similar in this game eventually.

- maybe as an upgrade perk
- pay to change the prefix
- character limit (3 < 10)

Yes, so overall I think this is what it should include

• deluxe perk
• cannot be change/pay to change
• character limit 3-10
• can only be added to horses you bred(or EC Horse sit you purchased them)
• not removable (but changeable?)
• horse can be searched by prefix

I'd say perhaps changeable by the original breeder, but not anybody who purchases the horse after the fact. I would want my prefix to remain on any horses I produce even if they are purchased by other players. The prefix wouldn't automatically be set for offspring. I like being able to manually put prefixes on horses I want to have it.

Yes, only the breeder can change the prefix, and it would have to be manually put on.

I disagreed on Only Bred By Me...
I have some horses that are brought/bred from my spare. Or sometime I would use broodmare and get the foal. I would like to able give them my prefixes as well and I can't do that if Only Bred By Me rules are applied.

I hate prefixes honestly. I never buy horses on horse games that prefixes attached. It bothers me that something silly like [NPC] or idk something ridiculous is part of the horse's name. I wouldn't be able to remove it either. Every can see who bred the horse on what account on it's profile. I don't see the point if you can see the breeder on the horse's page. If people needed to track them down they'd be able to see it right there. I'm personally a person who avoids them like a plague even if its a good looking horse. A game use to let brands get stapled onto their rumps. They used images from like videos games just plastered on it's side. It ruins the horses for me. @..@

^^^^
This, I won't buy horses with prefixes attached, especially if they're permanent.

I agree with the above posts. If I like a horse with a prefix enough, I might buy it, but the chances are much lower. I'd much rather buy a similar horse from someone else who doesn't use prefixes.

To me, it adds that much more realism to the game.

Many breeders in real life have their own or stable name in the horses' registered names, like "Gable's Shining Star." I want my branding on there without taking up character space needed for the actual name.

A lot of real life breed registries also offer a registered name change for a fee, which could also be applied here as well. Perhaps it could be noted that he previous registered name was "'Prefix' Smoulder" before the buyer changed it to whatever they wanted.

And really... If someone doesn't want to buy my horses because of a prefix, no skin off my nose.

I'd be more open to it or willing to compromise prefixes if it was in the profile information instead of attached to the name area. Cause I don't like the idea of a prefix being [NPC] Goliath the Brown or [NITE] Lolipops the Swirl or stuff being apart of it's name because I feel that becomes their name over the actual name. IDK xD "Is NPC available to stud? " "Do you mean Goliath the Brown?" "Sure, yeah NPC! That's the one!"

I don't understand prefixes I guess. If I like the breeder I notice their names alot because they have good stock that's floating around. Or I track backwards in blood lines to find them. I don't see the need for a double tag. If if was bred by you your names already linked back to you by the "bred by". A prefix is just a double tag to say "Bred by" to me. "Bred by Therion, Prefix [T]. " They both have the same end game of linking back to the breeder.

Maybe not literally part of the name itself, more like an annotation.

I more think of it in terms like... dog titles? Like if a dog named Bullet gets national field champion in a trial their "official" name would then read NFC Bullet (of course that can get crazy if the dog get multiple titles... but I'm not up for multi-prefixes here).

It's like an easy recognition thing. Maybe players could have the option of having prefixes visible or not? That way people who like them can have them, but people who don't care much for them don't need to see them?

I actually like your idea. I could live with that compromise of having an on and off filter and I think others could agree to that as well. XD I wouldn't have to see them on my horses and people could have them. It be a win win situation for both sides.

I wish people would see it as an annotation but I've had horses on other games and there called by their prefixes or only know by their prefix. And some cases are only know by their breeder even though I'd own it. xD Something silly like that. Well I had more problems with actual branding images on horse's rumps. Some were really nice on the horses and others just stuck out like a sore thumb which ruined the coat and horse looks to me. I guess it urks me on a level or pet peeve. I guess weird prefixes and weird branding trigger me most. I just like the idea of being able to customize everything about including it's name. Like if I buy something I know it's mine and others shouldn't have control over it unless I've made an agreement. Which I don't buy things with "attachments" or certain agreements entailed into it. Makes me have to keep trade of it all while i could just get something different and do anything i want with it.

Its kind of like how I buy art pieces. I avoid art and designs that have a "never resale", "don't use off certain site" , "i have rights to revoke this at anytime" type of deals. Very rarely will I get one with any of those type of "attachments". Maybe my perception is off key but prefixes and brands have always felt like something similar. I know there not those things. XD I guess the feeling I feel is possessive. I'm possessive over virtual horses. lolz Or things I feel I own. xD

I wouldn't mind if there was a filter that individual users could toggle on and off, but I DON'T agree with it being an upgrade perk. I just don't see the point behind making it a perk since it doesn't make your horse better or worse competition wise.

I already prefix my horses just because I like the look of it, but I would love to have a prefix that doesn't take up room in my horses' names. (I'd also like the option for registered names AND barn names, but that's a different matter).

Not all horses are going to show who they were bred by.

Doesn't

Neither does this one

The above horse only showed "bred by (name)" prior to me buying it. So, if a horse gets sold multiple times, there's absolutely no way of knowing who the original breeder was.
