Gettin' back on the horse!

#224758 Posted on 2020-06-29 17:30:37

Well, I haven't ridden in months, since my university shut down and I had to move out of the dorm (I was on our IHSA equestrian team), and I just felt I needed to go back and train again.  Well, I did some research and made contact with a trainer in my area who looks like a good option for getting started again, and guess what?  This Wednesday, I get to ride again, YAY!!!  They breed and show horses nationally, and they use their retired show horses for lessons, so I am hoping this will be a good way to get started again.  They only offer private and semi-private lessons, which I could get at my old trainer, but it was harder to squeeze in for one.

I'm hoping that changing to this trainer means I can get my friend to ride with me, I really want us to take lessons together, but there was no way it would work for both of us unless we both compromise and try someone who meets both our needs.  However, I want to go to a couple lessons first and see how it goes and if I'll like this trainer.  She seems nice, though, and I have a good feeling that this will turn out well.

Wow that sounds awesome! I haven’t ridden in years since I had to put my horse to sleep. I miss riding dearly, along with him of course. You’re very lucky!

YAY IHSA! My time on the IHSA team in college was amazing, so I hope you enjoyed what you got to do for yours! Best of luck with the new trainer as well I hope you and your friend can both enjoy time learning with them.
