I am just curious to see who all out there is currently working on a herd of racing thoroughbreds. What are your goals as far as showing, color, conformation? long term breeding goals?

I'm slowly working on getting a nice herd going but most of my foundations are a bit behind on stats for their age. I figure future generations can just make up for it.

I'd love getting to know more of the tb racing community members on this game. We could trade ideas, give tips, check out each other's sales, studs, etc.

I'm all about show quality right now. My lined TBs must have 50 or less NSS (with one exception for color and pedigree) and all Good+ conformation scores. For foundations, I'm looking for less than 50 NSS, but not getting hung up on other specifics.

I like blacks and smoky blacks, but I'd rather have them successful on the track than pretty so I take what I can get.

Edited to add: I also focus on clean lines, though I have a secondary string that are bred more realistically--also for low NSS.

I suppose I could have added in what my plans are as well, but I was tired when I posted this so yea.

I have a herd of foundation horses right now. I plan to keep those lines clean. I am working on good showable nss and hope to lower them as best I can with future generations, good conformation with a goal of eventually breeding out all poors, and also some color added in there. I have several blacks and smoky blacks by the way ;).

I have also got a couple of groups where I won't be paying as much attention to pedigrees, conformation, color and just hoping to be able to breed to horses with lower than average nss in order to have horses that dominate at the races. Difficult to find studs to breed to though, so hopefully this post will help with that!

I have a herd of racing TBs! I'm breeding them for color and low nss, and I don't like more than 3-4 foals max on all of my horses and all of the ones in their pedigrees.

I have some second gens coming up, and a second group of store horses with ages all over the place. Some of mine have decent nss already, some of mine I have for their color and have to breed their nss down. But it's something to work towards!

I don't look at confo ever but sometimes I get lucky on that, sometimes not so much.

I do! I breed mine for color primarily with a side focus on high stats, though I don't show them.

Do you use them in riding schools for stat gain?

Did someone say Thoroughbreds?!
The Evil League of Evil specializes in Black TBs with excellent showing stats! We also sometimes have Smokey Black or Smokey Cream horses just to keep up with our black bases. (and accidentally some Greys but hopefully that'll breed out). We have additional goals of improving conformation, but that's secondary to the color and stats xD

I'm too lazy to list mine for Stud/Brood since I never remember to remove them, but am always open to breedings and sell one set of foals from every generation!

Ah yes, I remember that now that you have posted! Smoky Creams, Smoky Blacks, and Blacks are my favorite colors in that order so I've got a decent number of them. Perhaps we will be able to do some business in the future!

In response to your question, I do school them, but it's more for profit than stat gain.

I just started a small herd of racing thoroughbreds a week or so ago. I don’t show them often - mainly just riding school unless they’re about to level, then I will toss them in a few shows. I love color (most of mine have color except for one which I custom made to look like my own real life thoroughbred). I’m just getting back into the game so trying to figure out the whole low NSS and what not.

Clean lines are definitely something I’m striving to keep in my herds. I self breed two foals, with three public breeding per horse allowed. One of those two foals will go straight to the auction house for people to potentially buy. If I don’t sell it there before it hits 3, I’ll try and public sell it until it’s 4. If that fails it’s off to an early retirement or in the rescue whichever I decide to do.

I breed for both conformation and nss. I use a spreadsheet to track both in my generations and pair my horses for their breeding pairs.  While I love the colours possible, I’m most fond of my Diva line. Their founding mate was really good in shows and I want to keep the magic from her going!
