Johnny
"I don't know... maybe over twenty feet, I don't really know." He looked self-consciously at his rope.

Cherry
"Good to meet you too," Cherry replied. She and Walt turned back to their food.

Outlaw
"Well you can try it if you want. I ain't sure if it'll be long enough, you'll have to get pretty close to anything to rope em, but it's up to you." She told him, glancing at the sky. Mid-afternoon. She deducted from the sun's position.

Johnny
"I-I can go find somethin' longer if you want." He began wrapping it up his waist again. "There's probably some in town. I'll just head down and find some if you'd like."

Outlaw
"Like I said, up to you. If you want something longer we got spares here though, you don't need to head into town less you want to." She said.

Johnny
"Oh, uh, would that be alright? If I borrowed one?"

Outlaw
"Yah. I'll go grab you one of those and a pistol in a bit here." She replied. She glanced at Sandy as he came up, carrying his saddles and bridles. She led him to the tack room, pointing to several empty saddle racks he could put his stuff on, then went out and walked to the storage shed next to the bunkhouse. She opened the door and soon located a lasso as well as a pistol holster and ammo belt. She then went into the bunkhouse, dumping the stuff on her bunk and pulling her saddlebags out from under her  bunk, rummaging through them until she found a spare pistol, a Colt single action army, also known as  Peacemaker. She checked it was in working order, loaded it fully, then filled the ammo belt with bullets as well and, gathering up the stuff, went back out and headed towards Johnny with the supplies.

Johnny
Johnny held out his hands to take the stuff as Outlaw returned. He stared it for what was probably an overly long amount of time in silence. "So when will I have to give this back?" he asked still marveling at it.

Outlaw
"You don't. It yers now." She said. "Hopefully that pistol suits you, she's some used, but still in perfect working order." She added.

Sandy
He put his stuff where the hardened foreman had said to, then walked back out with his saddlebags and rifle, stopping in the barn yard to study the layout again. It had been built with thought towards an attack, and it would be difficult for someone to get in without noticed.

Johnny
"Mine? Like, I-could-take-it-to-Mexico-and-throw-it-in-a-lake-and-no-one-will-beat-me mine?" He looked up at Outlaw with his mouth open. He had never owned anything since he'd been in America. Heck, for a good few years he didn't even own himself. These people had fed him, given him somewhere to sleep, and now they were giving him things that he had ownership over. It was so much for one day and he actually started crying.

Outlaw
She pulled an extra hankerchief from her pocket and put it in his hand. "That's yours now too. And I wouldn't advise throwing it in a lake, but sure, if you want. I also wouldn't recommend Mexico, too durned hot, but if you want to I ain't gonna stop you." She replied calmly, acting as easy going as if she saw someone crying every day.

"It's actually pret-t-ty nice the-e-ere," he said wiping his eyes before bursting into another fit of tears. "How a-are you so ni-i-ice!?"

"Cause you ain't done nothing to cause me not to be." She replied. "I treat others by how they treat those around them."

Johnny
Johnny wiped his eyes again and attempted a smile. "Thanks." He folded the hankerchief nicely and tucked it into his rope. "I ought to head back to the bunkhouse," he said, composing himself. "By the way, there wouldn't happen to be anywhere I could wash up at, would there? I'd hate to track more dirt inside."

Walt
After the two had finished their meal, paid, and tipped the very nice waitress, Walt decided to ask the bartender about jobs floating around - he figured the big burly man would know a bit about the town gossip. The young man sidled up to the bar and waved the bartender over. "I figured you would know - are there any jobs around these parts that need filling?" The bartender regarded the lanky young man for a moment. "A few," he said gruffly, wiping down the counter with a less-than-clean rag. "Lightning Bar's been looking." The man gave Walt some pretty vague directions. "Can't miss it," he said. The man glanced around, and his voice was lowered when he spoke again. "I'm warnin' ya, though. Foreman's got more enemies than friends round these parts and I wouldn't get tangled up in it if I was you." Walt nodded and thanked the man for the tip, crossing the room back to Cherry. "Apparently there's a job over at Lightning Var," he said. "Might be worth looking into." He surveyed the room, full of very drunk, loud ranchers. He didn't trust his sister to be here alone and not get into a mess regarding manners they obviously were lacking. "I think we should both go and check it out."
