War In Orioch RP

Kellan
Kellan bit the inside of his lip and tried to ignore the younger boy - it was what his parents would want. It worked for about five minutes before he sighed inwardly and said quickly, "Oria."

Wren
Wren, thus far silent, eyed the basket of candy, scanning for her favorite flavor. When she found it, she reached over and took one quickly, unwrapping it and putting it in her mouth.

Jasper
 He took a peach-flavored one, popping it into his mouth with satisfaction; he hesitated a moment before nudging Kellan's arm with the bunch and then holding them out to him. "You want one?"

Kellan 
Kellan eyed the basket, hesitating for a second. He wasn't sure what to do - this had never come up before. After a second, he hesitantly took one, unwrapping it slowly and putting it in his mouth. It was surprisingly good!

Outlaw
She mounted the black and silently trailed behind the group, leading the cremello. She mentally sent a message to a passing bird, who veered off and went to inform her animals. No use leaving them to worry, she mused, as the horses walked a respectful distance behind the group.

Tracks
Tracks reached into the basket that was passed to him and found a grape lollipop. He sucked silently on it as he scanned the faces of the group and passed on the basket. There really were a lot more people than he expected to volunteer. He passively wondered about each of their motivations, but soon lost interest and turned his attention to a unique pebble on the side of the road. 

Kellan
The silence was making him even more nervous than he already was. He racked his brain, trying to think of something to say. "So what's it-" Kellan stopped, embarrassed that he'd started talking with a lollipop in his mouth. Fighting an embarrassed blush, he removed said lollipop and started again, clearing his throat. "What's it like in your village?" He paused. "For research purposes, obviously," he added quickly, trying to come across like he wasn't curious. I'm a mess of a monarch, he thought.

Blake
Blake eyed what she was handed suspiciously, adjusting the large (for her small hands, at least.) Basket. After watching the others process of eating the lollipops and slowly imitating that much like a child would after being shown something, she blinked in confusion at the sudden sweet flavour. She passed on the basket after, gazing around more at the group than the scenery. She could almost taste the nervous energy coiling under the monarch's skin, and it made her nauseatingly light headed.

Jasper
 Jasper tossed the wad of lollipops back in Huli's basket, shrugging in response to Kellan. "How should I know? I barely get out. Had to get bread today though," he replied aronud his lollipop. And still have it. Oops.

Kellan
Kellan pressed his lips together and nodded, debating whether to finish his lollipop.

Wren 
Wren shrugged. "Can't be that different than yours," she said, gaze sweeping the group a little. 

Huli
"It's just your average village," Huli remarked. "A bit more isolated than most, but pretty average." She closed her basket, glancing around to see most of the group had taken one. 

Kellan
Kellan thought about the average village in Orioch- how resources were all but blocked off and rationed out to cooperative citizens, and those who were extra supportive getting a small surplus in an attempt to keep control and win favor among his people. "Not quite," he said. "Not quite."

Huli
His reply was odd to her. From her memory before being taken from her parents, it was the same. Then again, she had been small and oblivious to the problems her parents probably faced. "This is off topic," Huli started, a little nervously. She had debated with herself on when to bring it up, and she wasn't sure how readily available information on the topic was to the general public. "There used to be a program that dealt with... monsters, of the shapeshifting type. What's the status on that nowadays?" 

Kellan
"Gone," he replied. "Outdated, wasn't useful. And I needed the funding and resources we were using for it."

Huli
She did her best to hide it, but a wave of relief washed over her. It closed a chapter of her past that she'd never been able to put to rest. It didn't change the facts, but it helped to know nobody else was being put through the same horrors. Huli simply nodded to acknowledge Kellan's reply. 

Kellan
"Anyway, back to my question." Kellan resumed eating his lollipop.

Wren 
Wren summoned a baby stormcloud and stuck her lollipop stick in it. "I don't know, we've got the marketplace and the gardens and houses, and the monthly meetings to decide what's going to happen next, or make decisions. I guess we don't have a leader, per se. It's usually the elders."
