Torpid Void

Mason
 The only thing Mason could comprehend for a solid minute was sudden and intense pain. He vaguely registered the fact that something - or someone - had been responsible for him falling to the ground (rather ungracefully, may I add), but other than that, he had absolutely no idea what had happened. He groaned, slowly sitting up, his body stiff and feeling even more bruised than it already had. He tried to speak, but before he could, a sharp pain shot through his body, and he almost doubled over, eyes starting to swim with blackness. Mase grumbled incoherently, fighting back against the oncoming unconsciousness by forcing his eyes to stay open. He stared rather bitterly at the cigarette on the ground nearby that the newcomer had caused to fly from his hand, muttering a string of curses directed at both the pain that currently had a strong hold on his entire body as well as the person to blame for it. Once he was pretty sure he wasn't going to pass out, he shifted his gaze upward, blinking at the girl blearily as he attempted to comprehend what she was saying. She seemed to be pretty mad at both him and Rowan, but it took him a few moments to figure out why. Once he did, he managed to pull himself to his feet (though not without leaning nearly all of his weight against the column), his anger oddly able to counteract the pain. "You seriously think a half-dead drunk and a virtually-skillless nerd were the ones who chained her up? I can barely stand up right now, ma'am, in case you're too incompetent to notice," he retorted. "And-," He involuntarily cut himself off with a bought of coughing; he looked down at his hand to find that it'd produced a fair amount of blood. He blinked at it before wiping it off on his pants. "Um, what was I- Oh. You're Kaylee's sister, right? The bratty one?"

Harper
"Yeah, well you still haven't gotten me out of this situation," Harper grumbled, taking out her dagger and playing with it out of boredom.

Alice
"Nah, that'd be Janie." Alice dismissed fairly vaguely, focusing more on the start of the familiar strangers sentence. "And oh, you didn't chain her up but it's okay, she probably doesn't need help. It's not like she's, like, probably 10, alone, in the 2nd dimension or something." She turned to the girl, barely eyeing the sudden knife in her small hands. "Sorry, love, just hold on a second."

Harper
"I'm nine." Harper accidentally managed to fling the dagger out of her hand, causing it to land too far away for her to get it with the boundaries the chain caused. She rolled her eyes and shoved her hands in between her knees, slowly moving her feet back and fourth. And then it hit her. "Uh- did you just call me love?"

Louis
He sighed again as he polished off the rest of the water and pulled himself to his feet. Can't have a mental breakdown. That won't help anybody, would it? Louis stared at the wall a moment, then laughed humorlessly under his breath. "Game on, then." He walked to the door and pushed it open, returning to the kitchen to drop off his water. "Can we talk?" he asked Ace. "I have some questions, but you might not like them." 

Ace
Ace nodded. "I guess. What's up?"

Louis
"Is this place Aerow? Like, is she basically a part of it or vice versa?" 

Ace
Ace stared at Louis. "You're right, I don't like that question." He sighed and walked into the living room to sit down.

Rowan 
"Um, I am not skillless, thanks!" Rowan piped up. "Have you ever written seven papers in a week?!"

Louis
He shadowed Ace into the living room and sat down as well. He wasn't sure if Ace was going to be willing to answer his questions, but he could at least try. If not, he'd figure the answers out somehow.

Ace
Ace glanced at Louis, giving him the I don't want to talk about it, but gave in. "I don't truthfully know. She kind of is." He looked down at the ground thoughtfully. "There's a darkness- something that can either hold together, or tear apart this world. We're all sort of a part of it, but it isn't... there? Which is why I can't enter reality. I don't exist because it doesn't exist."

Louis
"Interesting. Is it possible for this dimension to be restructured in terms of how it works, like the government and rules, or would Aerow prevent that?" If his first questions had unsettled Ace, Louis knew he wouldn't like where this was going.

Ace huffed. "Well, there's people who can create this darkness, like you, or Aerow. Aerow however is the darkness, so you'd have to re-create her."

Louis
"Hm." Louis mulled that over for a moment. "So, 're-creating' Aerow is possible, then? What does that mean, how does it work, and what happens if someone does it?" 

Ace
"Aerow is just some kind of vaccum. She created this place so she could take form. In other words, she created something so strong that it could pull humans into it. She wanted what reality has, and that's a form. But with every dream comes a sacrifice, and she sacrifices a bit of her darkness so you can sacrifice a bit of your reality." Ace gulped slightly, glancing out the window. "So, the longer you stay here, the more you become... unreal. If you'd stay here long enough, you'd become like me. But her darkness is the source to this... "new reality", as she would put it. If you learned to control the darkness, you'd be able to even out the functions between reality and void, and ultimately Aerow would have to bow to your power."
