Oh boy. Em wasn't necessarily a goody-two-shoes. She'd known Tim since kindergarten. It'd be hard to be friends with him and not have broken some rules along the way. But she avoided breaking laws because she didn't want to get in trouble. Tim, on the other hand, may as well have been named trouble. He was currently smirking at Mason. "Are you kidding me? That's child's play." Em was about to say something when she spotted a nearby shop. Her eyes lit up and she turned to Tim, excited. "T, you didn't tell me you walked by that place everyday! We need to go in and get some ice cream. I can pay. Please?" "You're like a little kid," Tim grumbled under his breath. He looked at Mason. "Are you okay with stopping in there?" 

Kahlen 
"Quick reminder that today is an English day," Kahlen said as she set the plate back on the counter and stuffed her binder in her bag. "Ah. Right. Friday is a French day, yes?"

Auberon
"Honey, this is America," Auberon complained.

Kahlen
"Yes, I-" Kahlen trailed off, her mouth moving, but nothing coming out, caught off guard by his statement. Aunt Claire stifled a laugh, turning back to her sugar cookies.

Auberon
Auberon shook his head. "If you start speaking French around me I'm gonna start clucking to make you move," he teased.

Kahlen 
Kahlen shook her head, but she was smiling. "Strange people, Texans."

Auberon
"Aren't we though?" Auberon mumbled, his accent puling through, thought it was more from his exhaustion than anything else. 

Kahlen 
Kahlen bit her lip to keep from smiling. He doesn't even realize his accent is showing up. I actually really like that accent. It's- stop the mushy thought right there Kahlen excuse you.

Auberon
"I mean, my family was just so patriotic that my birthday never really got celebrated. I'm not even sure I'm seventeen." Auberon paused, then cleared his throat, blinking at the ground momentarily in an attempt to get his brain working. He was (luckily) able to resolve to a semi-normal accent. "I really did have a depressing childhood."

Kahlen
"I've done the math. You're seventeen, trust me," Kahlen commented, not sure what to say about the last part. "Welcome to the Winter household. You fit right in," she finished, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. He'll be okay.

Auberon
But if you marry me than you'd be in the Simmon fami- wait what??! "Anyways... what did you think of school?" Auberon asked, obviously trying to shut up his brain.

Kahlen
"There are people there. And the hippie that I will not name. And that one girl who apparently visits the restaurant in the summer that helped with the empousai. And the kid who is supposed to be dead. And that one girl- we're just going to call them the math class. Point is, there are people. Not my favorite living organism."

Auberon
"Hmmm.... so if I became Loco more often, would you like me more?" Auberon asked, his eyes gleaming with mock curiosity.

Kahlen
"Oh, right. I forgot that my boyfriend is also a dog for a few minutes. Um, I'm kind of a cat person?" Aunt Claire burst out laughing, dropping her rolling pin on the floor. After a few seconds, she realized what she had said. "Oh, stars," she muttered, covering her eyes with her hand. "I really just said that. Out loud."

"Oh jolly stars!" Auberon exclaimed, this time letting his voice relax into his normal accent on purpose. "The stars! The stars! Oh the starsssss, the stars..."
