Only The Strong Survive

Ahanu 
Ahanu considered the fact that Auberon seemed to have some medical knowledge, or at least be able to figure out what exactly was wrong with someone. Ahanu wondered if maybe that could help the group here figure out how to better help Nook if they knew exactly what was wrong with him. Or maybe they did already. He really didn't know much about them or really anything regarding this place and its people. 

Charity
Charity tensed with the dream she was having. She knew the scene all too well, but darkness kept veiling it time and time again, and all she could see was distorted figures creeping... she knew who they were, right? She had known them, and yet it felt like so long, and the memory had become so wrong, what was it really about? She could hear the screams, and smell the smoke, but nothing was burning, and the figures she saw had no mouths at all the be able to scream, or at least, not that she could see. She snapped out of her dream, sitting upright with the smallest squeak of startlement. She was shaking slightly from how tense she had been, but was more frustrated when she realized she had been biting her tongue the entire time to keep silent. She could taste the blood in her mouth, which didn't settle well with her stomach. She sighed and laid back down, staring at the ceiling again while protesting her reaction to cry.

Ahanu 
His head snapped up, concern written all over his face. He stood, carrying the stool with him as he crossed over to her bed. He set it down and sat. "Bad dream?" 

Charity
"Darkness keeps chasing me..." she whispered, her voice hallow and dead. She hadn't realized she had gone into another trance until she choked on her own bloody spit. She sat up and coughed momentarily, her eyes still stinging but her brain more active than it had been moments before.

Ahanu 
His concern deepened. Ahanu reached over and took her hand. "It was just a dream. You're safe."

Charity
Charity trembled, bringing her knees to her chest and resting her forehead on them. "It wasn't though..."

Ahanu 
He moved onto the edge of the bed and gently pulled Charity closer. "Would it help to talk about it?"

Charity
Charity started crying quietly, though she really wished she hadn't. "I'm not entirely sure what to talk about."

Ahanu 
"If it helps, you could tell me what happened in the dream. If it will just make things worse, though, we can discuss something else and try to get your mind off it."

Charity
Charity just felt like screaming in agony, so she decided not to say anything. She could hear her heartbeat throbbing in her ears, making everything seem slower and darker. 

Ahanu 
He studied her carefully, then wrapped her into a hug. "You're safe now," he murmured. "I'll protect you, okay?"

Charity
Charity nodded slightly, leaning into his chest and trying to relax. She did feel safer, but the dull feeling of the dream still lingered.

Ahanu 
She still felt tense. Ahanu wasn't sure how to help her further. The dream seemed to have really shaken her. He bit his lip then started to gently run his one hand through her hair, not sure if it would actually help or not.

Charity
Charity's eyes fluttered closed contentedly, and she forced herself to relax.

Ahanu
He continued to run his hand through her hair, the other wrapped around her protectively. "When Aylin was younger, she always had terrible nightmares. She would sneak into my room and wake me up whenever she had one. I would tell her these stupid stories and she'd either laugh at me or fall asleep. Is there anything that you do that helps you sleep better after one?"
