Only The Strong Survive

Ahanu 
"I'm... I don't know how to get the horses." He turned and fled back up to the building, finding a small office and going inside. There was a desk with a chair, and a chair on the other side for a guest. He closed the door and sank into the guest chair (it was closest). I don't want to cry. 

Charity
Charity stood there helplessly. Well, you succeeded. Are you happy now? She looked down at the ground and took a deep breath. She felt like she had done this so many times to people- why did this one hurt so bad? She looked between the horses and the stables, not really sure what to do at this point.

Ahanu
He stared at the wall, trying to figure out what exactly was going on with all that.

Charity
Charity went back up to the stables, positioning herself against a stall door in a sitting position. Her brain started thinking about everything, which led her to start mildly crying. 

Ahanu
The longer he sat there the louder and louder his brain grew. He propped his elbows on the desk and rested his chin on his hands. He wasn't crying, but whatever this was was possibly worse. He just stared at the wall, feeling the tides of his brain rising and trying to pull him apart. 

Charity
After a lot of mental debating, but mostly just stress, Charity went over to the room Ahanu was in. She flung open the door. "Okay fine. If you really want to know whats going on in this pathetic excuse for a brain of mine- I don't want this anymore because all I'm doing is using and hurting you. Regardless of whether or not my emotions for you are real, all I can do is care about the attention I get and not you or us in general. But I hate it that you care because I can't do the same for you, and I feel guilty because of it. And I'm extremely stressed out because my own brother could care less about my existence, but will gladly give all his stupid brotherly attention to some other girl- and to add more to the list, he's the reason my parents decided I wasn't worth their time and went into enough of a depression to forget I even existed and left me in that crappy school with a ton of terrible people for me to survive on my own. And as much as I would like things to get better, they won't, because now I don't care about people or anybody else's life, I just care about surviving long enough to maybe see my family again!" Charity swallowed after she had said all that, finding it surprisingly relieving to get it all out. She collapsed against the wall and buried her face in her knees as she cried. 

Ahanu
Several minutes passed by before he actually did anything. He blinked a couple of times, pulling out of his thoughts. Ahanu glanced over to Charity and slowly stood from his chair, going down and sitting down next to her. After a brief hesitation, he wrapped his arm around her. 

Charity
Charity cried into Ahanu's chest. "I-I'm sorry," she mumbled.

Ahanu
"I haven't processed it all yet," he admitted with a small laugh. "It's okay to cry, you know that, right?" 

Charity
"Not really," she managed, crying a bit harder after she did.

Ahanu
"Well, it is. Sometimes you just need to let yourself cry." Ahanu shrugged. "I think I probably do it too much but ya know." 

Charity
"Why do you even care?" Charity asked. She honestly didn't know why Ahanu loved her, much less wanted to help her.

Ahanu
He thought a moment, then gave a tiny, sheepish laugh. "I can't really explain love." 

Charity
Charity wrapped her arms around Ahanu's neck and repositioned herself to cry into his shoulder. "I love you," she whispered.

Ahanu
"Thanks? Sorry, my brain is a little confused right now."
