Charity
Charity accepted the blanket gratefully, tugging it a bit closer into her body. She watched Ahanu for a moment before weakly calling for him.

Ahanu
He stopped and turned. "Yeah?" 

Charity
Charity finally put the blanket over her head, curling up into her own body under that blanket for more warmth. "You said you wanted to talk."

Ahanu
"I would like to clear some things up, yeah." He walked back over to her cot and sat on the floor. "Are you okay?" 

Charity
"Emotionally, mentally, or physically?" she asked. "Never mind. They all have the same answer. Not really."

Ahanu
I'll have Auberon look at her when he gets back. She looks sick. "So... About the walk you took last night. Did you bring the gun with you?" 

Charity
Charity uncovered her head, resting her chin on her hand, and brushing through her hair with the other one. "Um... well, no."

Ahanu
He sighed. "I gave that to you for protection. Please use it. What if there was a zombie?" Ahanu ran his hand through his hair. "Why did you even go on a walk in the middle of the night?" Without telling anyone. Alone. Without a weapon. 

Charity
"Couldn't sleep... again..." Charity sighed. "I'll start using the gun... sorry."

Ahanu
"It's fine." Ahanu looked over his shoulder at his rats, needing somewhere else to focus his eyes on. He ran his hand through his hair again, turning back but not meeting her eyes. "About what the girl said. C-could you explain?"

"I don't hate you," Charity said quickly. "I dunno where she got that idea from." Well, actually I do but that topic is irrelevant...

Ahanu
He stared at the floor. "I don't care if it might hurt. I want to hear the truth. I'd rather know then always wonder. You do know where she got the idea. I was standing there, I saw your face. And she also mentioned the - the other thing. I just want to know, Charity." 

Charity
Charity stared at him for a minute, then looked down at the floor. "That- it's, uh... complicated... I don't want to talk badly about my family anymore than I already have to you..."

Ahanu
He shook his head. "How does this have to do with your family? And I don't really mind. I just want to know what all that was about."

Charity sat up and glanced down at the blanket. She inhaled deeply, tapping her finger on her knee before starting. "Um... after Auberon supposedly died, my parents stopped calling me. I was still able to contact Josh, so I asked him a couple times if everything was okay. He always said 'yes' but nothing else. I just- I got lonely, and kind of resentful. It felt like everyone at school always had at least one person to turn to, but my parents stopped caring about me, and Auberon was... dead, apparently. It was hard to get actual friends at school, as they all were pretty mean and could have cared less about your life. So I started using people to get the atrention I wanted... however that looked. When you came...." Charity stopped and exhaled quietly, looking out at the forest. "...I just sort of saw you the same way. And then somewhere along the lines I fell in love with you... I did say 'I hate him' last night, but it wasn't really towards you as much as it was towards myself. I didn't- I didn't know someone could actually care about me again. Somehow that hurt worse than anything." Charity wiped at some tears she hadn't been aware of before, and she looked back down at the blanket.
