Auberon approached the girl slowly. He was still a little freaked by what had just happened. Im gonna kil Eudora when she gets back...
"Hey. Im guessing your new here?" he asked hiding his annoyance.

Alex
Alex bit his tongue from telling her what else he could do. "I know." He said, simply, and leaned his head on Jade's shoulder. "I'm sorry, little fish." He whispered, gazing into the fire, wishing Jade could feel him more than just a light touch.

Jade
She had the faintest sensation, as if he was sitting next to her, leaning on her. "I'll be okay," she replied faintly. "But, why are you here? Don't get me wrong," she said with a smile, "I'm glad you are." A new surge of icy chill swept over her, and she shivered all the more.

Noah
He was cursing in ancient Greek, concentrating to keep the cold from fading. Hecate, who is tearing this down? I need your help! "I am here, my prince. You are doing splendidly, and this is building your strength." That's great and all, but I really need - "Stop your whining," Hecate snapped, "I have already given you a small boost of magic. I am going to deal with the one who is causing interference." Thank you. He closed his eyes to better concentrate.

Alex
Alex shrugged as best he could, lacing his hand wih her unburnt one. "You're cold. We're fixing that."

Jade
"Alex, it's... I've tried. I don't think it's fixable unless I -" she stopped and looked down at her burnt hand, the water twisting through her fingers. She let out a small, almost inaudible sigh. "Noah said that I will continue to be cold until I fall in love with him." She turned her gaze to the fire, the flames of which reflected on her eyes that were blazing with determination and anger, backlit by the fear she tried so hard to suppress. "But I won't." Renewed cold swept over her, and she realized that it might be related to her words. If she mentioned not loving Noah, the cold worsened. She let the water trickle through her fingers to pull the blankets tighter, then pulled the water from the ground and continued to swirl it in her palm.

"Yesm that would be me," he said with a chuckle. "How long have you been here then?"

"About a week or two," he replied.

"Noah? Who-"

Alex
Alex grinned proudly. "There's our girl." He turned to look over at his mother, seeing her murmuring to herself, one hand propped like she was reading an invisible book, the other following the sentences, undoing his sister's spell line by line. "You'll warm up in a bit, I promise."

She let the water fall back into the ground and worm its way to the stream from where she had taken it. She looked to where she was sure Alex was sitting, but there was empty air. "Alex, this might be a weird question, and I'm sure it was a hallucination but..." She gave Star's nose a pat. "Earlier today I was in my tent - I didn't know I was cold because of magic and was trying to get warm - and I swear I felt you brush back my hair. I'm just wondering." She shrugged.
