Alex
"A true mutt." Alex grinned, turning to the girl. He looked back over his shoulder, down at the vast camp. "Y'know, you'd think that seeing as this place seems prepared for big feisty goat-cats and the like, we would have gotten some backup up here."

Kahlen
As Kahlen reached the bottom of the hill, she was greeted by a boy with shaggy blonde hair in full battle armor. She raised an eyebrow. "What's going on up there?" He asked. "Well, there was a chimera, but we handled it." No thanks to all of you, she didn't add. His jaw dropped and he stared at her. "One girl got seriously injured though," she added. "And my brother's been keeping her alive by himself. I don't suppose you have any medics in this valley?" She said sarcastically. "Oh-of course." He turned and yelled something in a strange language at one of the kids walking by. She ran into one of the cabins and came out with a medical kit. "Where?" "Follow me." Kahlen turned and headed up the hill, the girl behind her. She wasn't more than 14. 

Jade
She nodded. "Yeah, you'd think." She glanced over to where the girl lay. "Man, I hope she makes it." Jade shook her head, knowing that could have been her, too. She and the chimera had been having a stare-down. She turned her green eyes to the boy. "Do you know what this place is, or did you just get here like me? By the way, I'm Jade." 

Katie
Katie and Brian had returned to Harley's side, and when Katie saw the newcomers approaching Harley, she literally stood up and snarled, putting herself in between her friend and strangers. "Katie." Henry shushed, still helping tend to the wounded girl, smiling in a stressed manner at the newcomers, seeing that they had a medical kit. "Don't mind her. Brian?" At his request, Brian had grabbed Katie, pinning her arms to her sides and dragged her away, shooting their temporary doctor's look-alike a lopsided grin.

Alex
"Yeah, me too." Alex grimaces looking over, choosing instead to look at the pretty green eyes that had just been aimed at him with a question. "I just got here..... so, like you, I have literally no idea what's going on."

Theo

Theo was late, as usual, having missed his bus and having had to walk instead. He could see the scenes of carnage that lead up to the gates, and could only guess at what had happened.

He kept himself low, hearing a growl behind him he crept forward slowly, sticking to the shadows before breaking into a jog, and then a run, and then freezing as he heard something else crack to his left. Not taking his chances, he broke into a sprint, hurdling anything that was in his path as he heard a roar behind him. He could see the entrance, and the distance seemed to grow as he ran faster and faster, grateful for all his years as a runner. He could sense something behind him, and he nearly tripped as it pounced, missing him by milimeters and ripping the back of his shirt. He let out a yell, running and telling himself not to look back.

"Help!" He called, jumping over a fallen branch. "Where do I go?"

Jade
She opened her mouth, when a call echoed up the hill. She whipped around. A boy was running, the chimera somehow behind him. It pounced, barely missing his head and raking his shirt. She grimaced, then stepped out from the barrier. and called down to him. "There's an invisible barrier just past the pine tree. You can cross it, but the chimera can't!" She focused on the beast and waved her arms, hoping not to distract the boy but instead the chimera. "Hey, ugly, over-sized house cat! Up here!" It glanced over and hesitated slightly, probably noticing how she was outside the barrier. "Yeah, I'm talking to you, Mr. Chimera. I bet you're not fast enough to get me." It had focused back on the boy ahead of it. "Oh, I see. You're afraid to take a challenge. Wow, I didn't know you were such a wimp." Jade prayed that the chimera even understood her, and would take the bait. 

Denver 
"I get it. My sister's the same way." He looked up at his sister. A girl no older than 14 was following her. Kahlen stopped and folded her arms. "I thought you could use some help," she said, cocking her head. She knew that her brother was stressed and exhausted. He would keep going until he dropped, if necessary. Denver sighed gratefully. "You're my favorite sister," he said tiredly. "Good, since I'm the only one you've got." The girl knelt next to Denver. "What happened?" Concern was written all over her face. "Er, well, we don't know for sure. She was impaled or something similar." The girl nodded and inspected his handiwork. She was visibly impressed. "I can take it from here if you'd like," she offered. Denver glanced in Katie's direction. "Um, I think I'll stay here for a minute, but your help greatly appreciated." They worked together, Denver explaining what he'd done so far and the girl nodding. 

Kahlen
Kahlen sighed. Even though her twin was exhausted from keeping the girl alive for so long, he wanted to keep going. She knew he felt responsible for her. Typical. She sat nearby, partly because she wanted to make sure her brother was okay and partly due to her instinct to keep a careful eye on the other kids. She glanced in the direction of a girl who was trying to distract the chimera. She sighed. Did these people have a death wish? She got up and walked in their direction.

Alex
Alex turned to the girl with an almost death wish grin. "Run at the chimera and slide under it?" But before she could response, he had already taken off down the hill, directly at the monster.

Katie
By the time they had settled down next to Harley, Katie's writhing and clawing and her "Don't touch her, DON'T touch her." Had evolved into pulling forward on Brian's arms, reaching for Harley with a "Please be careful, please,  god please be careful with her."

Jade
She glanced at him, the white of his teeth shining with his grin, before he took off. "I'm gonna die," she grumbled, then charged down the hill after him. As she passed the new boy, the one running, she said, "Keep going! Don't stop until you are past the pine tree!" And then she was facing the chimera. The hatred in its eyes focused on her and the messy, dark-haired boy who had come up with this crazy plan. "Hi, kitty," she panted, and slid right under its front legs. She grabbed the left one as she slid past, and her momentum tripped the chimera. She rolled quickly to avoid being crushed under the beast and stood, looking around for Alex.

Alex
Alex, unfortunately had been crushed by the falling beast, and writhed around under it, groaning "Get off, cat!" Before shoving it off and pushing himself to his feet, nodding up the hill. "I'd say we should get going right about now."

Jade
She felt terrible for having brought the chimera on top of him, but she nodded. "Yeah, probably." She glanced at the chimera, who was started to rise again. She took a breath and sprinted up the hill. She glanced back to make sure Alex was following, and saw the chimera stand up and begin pursuing them. At least he's not chasing that kid, she thought to herself. "Hurry!" she yelled to Alex, and tried to speed up a little. It was a bit difficult, since she was already going faster then she ever had before. Come on, Jade, there's a monster chasing you. Speed up! 

Kahlen
Kahlen cursed under her breath and sprinted towsrd the two. They SERIOUSLY had a death wish.

Denver
The girl -she said her name was Ariel- stood up. "I'm gonna go get a stretcher." She jogged back down the hill, calling to someone as she went. Denver watched his twin sprint toward two kids- was one running towards the chimera?!- and got to his feet. "I'll be back in a minute," he said hurriedly. "Harley should be fine until I get back. If anything changes, yell." He sprinted after Kahlen.

Katie
When the boy and Ariel had left, Katie squirmed her way out of Brian's arms and dropped to the ground (on her bad knee, no less) and crawled over to Harley on her hands and knees, cradling her face. "Harley." She cooed, almost in tears. "Harley." The girl's eyes fluttered open weakly, giving Katie a smile before sitting up ramrod straight, then scrambling onto her elbows, throwing up thick hunks of what looked to be coffee grounds.



Alex
Alex winced as he put pressure on his leg - the one that the chimera landed on. He knew he wouldn't be able to walk, let alone keep up with Jade, and her slowing down for his sake would mean death. Alex skidded to a stop, nd the chimera plowed right into him, not expecting it's prey to freeze, nd they both went tumbling to the ground. "At least Jade should make it." Alex muttered, wrestling with the big cat on top of him, grimacing as it's snake tail struck at his leg. 

Jade
She turned after crossing the border, and screamed. Alex was on the ground, wrestling the chimera. That idiot, she thought, and turned and sprinted back down. Breathing hard, she slid to a stop and glared at the chimera. "I'm really tired of you, you know?" she growled, and slapped it. For a moment, she was stunned at herself, but the chimera's angry roar brought her back into motion. It leaped off Alex and charged her. How smart was this thing? Could she pull off the sliding trick twice? She doubted it, so she leaped out of the way and scrambled to her feet, dashing back to Alex. "You okay?" she asked, reaching her hand down to help him up. The chimera had turned and was staring at them. She wished it would decide they weren't worth it and stomp into the woods, but she knew they wouldn't be that lucky.

Kahlen
Kahlen couldn't take it anymore. "DO YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH?!" She yelled at the two as her brother caught up with her. Fortunately, the chimera looked at her, not at the kids that were within eating range. Unfortunately, the chimera's attention was now targeted on her. It snarled and faced her as she sprinted toward it. As they passed by the boy, Denver grabbed his arm and helped him as fast as possible away from immediate danger. 
Kahlen kept going as she ran past the monster. If she stopped now, it'd be a painful death. That depressing thought gave her the motivation to keep going. The chimera bounded after her, snapping at her and growling as it missed. Kahlen managed to keep ahead of the beast. She hoped the magical boundary was still in place here. Kahlen turned left and as the monster tried to follow her, it stopped suddenly like a bird crashing into a window. She stopped, trying to catch her breath.
