Greek Mythology Roleplay

Jade
She saw the chimera pounce just as the girl pulled her to the side. She stumbled and almost fell, but ran out of reach of the lion-creature. "I guess I must have made it a little mad," she said, her heart pounding. It's eyes bored into her with hate. "So, uh, Plan B?" They now were positioned with their backs to the top of the hill, the chimera staring them down again. Jade took a careful step backward. "If we inch up this hill backward, we might make it," she said. She took another step back, blowing at a loose strand of hair. The chimera snarled and leaped. Jade thought she would freeze, but reflex kicked in and she ducked. It barely cleared over her head. Jade straightened, grabbed the other girl's hand, and began a full blown sprint up the hill. 

Katie struggled to remember how to breath as she jumped straight into another sprint, wincing as she felt the chimera tearing after them. "Come on, come on...." She groaned as they neared the top of the hill, sighing in relief as they passed through the barrier. 

Jade
She didn't know where the barrier was, but she kind of figured it out by the crowd of kids just past the pine tree. She slid to a stop, panting, sweat glistening on her brow. She turned around to see a very angry chimera pacing. "You, sir," she said in between breaths, "are a very bad kitty." The chimera roared in anger, and Jade stuck her tongue out at it in response. She turned to the girl who had gone done to help her and grinned. "Thanks for snapping me out of it. I kind of froze. So, what is this place, anyways?" She was a bit shaken from her experience with the monster [who she could practically feel staring daggers at her back], but she tried not to show it. What was that thing, and why did it try to attack her? All these kids in armor and with weapons were also confusing. Who gave kids swords or bows and arrows? Jade shook her head slightly and returned from her thoughts.

Kahlen
"Looks like our friends survived," she muttered to her brother. He looked up from his task and gave her a sympathetic look. Kahlen didn't have anything against the kids, not yet anyway, but she didn't exactly trust them. Once she got to know them, that would be a different story. Kahlen glanced down at the girl on the ground and immediately wished she hadn't. Unlike her twin, she had no toleramce for the medical field. Her stomach twisted and she closed her eyes for a moment. "I'm going to.... walk around for a moment. I'll be back." She then moved to a position where she could keep an eye on the newcomers. It was instinctive for her, in a way, to seek out the best and most obscure places to keep an eye on things.

Denver 
Denver sighed as his sister walked away. She could be a little suspicious sometimes. He knew she'd come around. He sat back on his heels and watched the girl carefully. She'd been unconscious for a few minutes, but her breathing seemed somewhat normal and there didn't seem to be anything else wrong.

Katie
Katie barely even slowed down as they hit the barrier, dropping down on her knees next to Harley, forcing herself not to touch her friend, even if it was to reassure herself. If Harley died from her injuries, Katie would never forgive herself - but then again, Harley living would mean she had to live in a world without her best friend (and most likely girlfriend, if we're being completely honest) and that would be heartbreaking. "She's gonna be alright, right?" She asked the boy who had run over to help, nd she would be forever grateful to him, seeing as he was here helping Harley and she didn't even know his name. 

(Tbh...... I'm just gonna write Alex in when it's convenient in this first bit, and seeing as he's just kinda floating around and I'm so braindead from this heat, I'll start writing him in later)

James
 James reached for the slingshot that was in his back pocket. Grabbing it, he pulled it out and looked it over. He'd had it since he was eight, and he'd used it a lot in the past five years. He glanced back up at the creature doubtfully. A little slingshot was by no means a good enough weapon. Shoving it back into his pocket, James waited until the animal was facing the other direction and made a break for it. He ran towards a group of kids higher up on the hill. Crashing into some kind of invisible barrier, he rolled across the ground and ended up in a heap. 
 "Uh... hi!" he said, trying to catch his breath. Turns out, he'd rolled right up to a life-or-death situation. "Sorry to... intrude?"

Ethel
 Watching the beast pace back and forth, Ethel cursed under her breath. From where she was, there was no way that she'd be able to reach the top of the hill without getting spotted, and she wasn't too keen on becoming monster dessert. She crouched down and picked up a rock. Rolling it around in her hand, and faced the bottom of the hill. She might not be able to lead the... whatever-it-was away, but at least she wouldn't point it in the direction of the others.
 Pausing, she reconsidered. Throwing a rock, even if she didn't throw it at the beast, would only anger it further. However, she was alone behind a tree with no reinforcements. Maybe the rock would at least get the attention of the other teens. 
 Taking a deep breath, she chucked the rock and tried to remain out of the monster's sight. She heard it hit the ground - thunk.

Denver ran his fingers through his hair. "Well, I've done what I can," he said. "Hopefully this camp has more medical supplies and more experienced kids than I am, but.." he paused, not wanting to tell the truth, but not wanting to lie to the girl. "To be completely honest, it's iffy. She's doing better right now, though," he added quickly.

Kahlen 
Kahlen flinched as a rock landed inches from where she was sitting, hidden in some bushes. She turned and looked in the direction the rock had come from.
There was a girl hiding a few feet away. She seemed to be watching something- The chimera! Kahlen realized she must have crossed the border looking for a hiding spot. It was just luck the monster hadn't seen her yet. She moved silently toward the girl. "What are you doing?" She hissed as she reached the girl.

Ethel
 "Oh, I don't know, trying not to get eaten?" she whisper-yelled sarcastically, eyes flicking from the girl back to the monster. She motioned for the stranger to get behind a tree.
 "What even is that thing? You see it too, right?" she asked, glancing at the girl again.

Kahlen moved behind the tree. "Well, throwing rocks'll only speed up your death. That's a chimera. Nasty little thing." The chimera started to pace along the border, growling and snarling. 

Ethel
 "How else was I suppose to get your attention?" Ethel snapped. Exhaling and shaking her head, she added, "...Sorry. I know you're trying to help. But I wasn't just gonna stand here and do nothing. Now, about that... chimera thing. Where did it come from?"

Kahlen nodded at the monster. "Who knows? Some alley in the city, probably. Anyway, do you have an actual plan to escape alive?" She didn't mean to sound sarcastic, but she didn't quite know this girl yet, and so far her plans had been to throw rocks at a monster who had no care if you were eaten for lunch. She also deigned not to introduce herself yet.

 "If I had a plan, I would already be doing it. Honestly, right now I'm still half convinced that I'm dreaming."
 She turned her attention to the group a short distance away from herself and the girl. "What about them? Why hasn't it attacked them yet?"

Kahlen followed the girl's gaze to where her brother was sitting, among a group of strangers. "I haven't quite figured it out yet, but there seems to be some sort of border. We can enter and exit as we wish. Monsters can't. Unfortunately, we are about 20 feet from that border, so..."

Ethel
 "I guess we could make a run for it, but I don't think we'd make it in time. That think looks pretty powerful, and probably fast, too. Any suggestions?" the blonde asked, eyeing the girl who's name she didn't know.
 "I'm Ethel, by the way. And you are..?"

"Kahlen." Kahlen did some mental calculations. "I do in fact, have a suggestion. The chimera is currently focused on the kids over there, yes? We can sneak over through the bushes. That's how I ended up here in the first place."
