Auberon woke up still half asleep, but at least awake. He felt a little more refreshed, but starving. He rolled out of bed and went out of the cabin. He staggered out to the front and sat down, his eyes adjusting to the brightness.

He glanced around. "Where's Katie?" he asked, looking at the hash browns. They needed to leave soon. The quest was waiting, and they had a deadline, after all.

Auberon got up and walked around. He figured he had bothered Denver enough that day, so he walked aimlessly into the forest.

Katie
Katie froze as soon as she'd heard the growl. She turned very, very slowly to see an enormous black dog standing on the other side of the river, dark tendrils of who knows what extending from its body, it's snarling teeth almost as long as her forearm. Katie knew exactly what this was. She had been told, warned, so many times when she was little by Anita who had been petrified of the-

Jade
Her senses went crazy. There was something in the river. "I'll be right back," she said, running into the woods. She reached out, trying to feel what it was but not being too successful with the cold distracting her mind. As she neared the location she slowed and crept through the underbrush, slightly shivering hand on her sword hilt. She peeked out to see Katie, a monstrous wolf standing over her. Jade stopped herself from gasping, choosing instead to stay hidden. Katie seemed to be managing- and if she needed help, there was a river right there.

Katie wiped her now bleeding hand on the back of her jeans absently, tilting her head a little. "What're you doing all thr way up here?" She mumbled, taking a little step closer but stopping in her tracks as the dog lunged at her, sinking it's fangs shallowly into her forearm. "Okay, it's okay." She hummed, knowing that dog wasn't to blame - it was scared, and felt cornered. "You're alright." She reached out again, slower this time, at pet just on it's forehead.

Jade
She had been about to leap out and assist Katie, but her actions were now puzzling Jade. How was she able to keep her calm? And what was this thing? Jade crouched lower in the bushes, controlling the current slightly. She felt fish in the water, and asked them to convey a message telepathically. Apparently she could do that to. She saw the glint of silver in the water and could barely read "Bushes" formed by fish before the scattered once more.

Katie
Katie exhaled, and felt the little fish brush against her ankle and barely looked down, turning and sitting on the river bank so she was facing the way she had come. Her eyes flicked over to the bushes for a second, but she turned back to face the dog. This was a dog known for nightmares, sleep paralysis and often death - but what was it doing so far from it's homeland? She took her small bronze knife (and the dog scattered a little), slicing off the bottom of her shirt and tying it around her arm to halt the blood flow for now. Anita had warned her of this exact dog, told her of her own encounters with it. Told her that it would kill anyone in it's way, so why was Katie still alive? As she sat down, the dog growled at her, trying to assert dominance, and Katie bared her teeth right back. Ir wasn't that she wasn't scared - heck, she was terrified - but Katie had worked with enough dogs to know that once they saw you as the boss, as the alpha, things would change, and you could start working together. "I wonder if you could come with us?" She pondered out loud, almost laughing at the dog's apparent confusion. "I mean, you'd definitely be of use to us. We have to fight a god." She paused for a moment. "Can you get any smaller?" She watched as the dog lowered itself to the ground, the thick black smoke growing to conceal it until she heard a faint meowing from inside, and a large black cat poked it's head out from the cloud. "Perfect." She gently picked the cat up, ignoring it's hiss and scratch at her face, and wrapped it in her jacket, buttoning it so she could walk without the cat - dog? - falling out. "We'll find you a backpack to sit in." Katie laughed, pausing as she passed the bushes. "C'mon, Jade, I'll explain as we walk. They're not gonna hurt anybody." Well, she thought, looking down at her arm, anybody else.
