 "This brand. What's it mean?" she asked curtly. Buzzard put his ears forward as Storm walked up, but when he realized who it was, he flattened them back into their usual irritated position and swished his tail.

Ivy
Ivy nodded. Pheonix peeked his head over the stall and sniffed Dexter curiously. Dexter barked and wagged his stubby tail in excitement. Pheonix whinnied back. "Glad you two are getting along," she said, leaning against the wall.

storm
"well hello to you too Buzzard" she said "you'd think he'd treat the person who rescued him better" she said to Marce with a grin. "that's a Burea of Land management brand. he was a mustang, when they catch them they brand em. he's one of the newer horses I've rescued"

As the social workers dropped her and her cat off. She was still crying as the rain soaked her. A friendly girl in a rain coat came to greet her. Patches poked her head out of Laura's coat and then realized it was raining and stuck her head back in the jacket

Olivia
She walked over to the stall containing Jasper, and the liver chestnut seemed to study her. "Hi, Jasper," she said softly, slipping into the stall. He turned his back on her, munching on some hay. She gently rested her hand on his rump so he knew she was there, keeping it there as she walked toward his head. He turned around again. "Hey!" she exclaimed, trying not to yell. She repeated the action, snagging his halter before he could turn. He obviously wasn't scared of her, for he didn't flatten his ears, and his tail didn't swish. He looked at her out of the corner of his eye, as if asking "What do you think you're doing?" He tugged his head away from her and turned his rump toward her again. Olivia walked to the door of the stall and gestured to Storm. 

Storm
She went over to Olivia. “Ah, I see he’s giving you a nice warm welcome” she said. “He’s quite temperamental, but he eventually comes around” she went in and swiftly turned him, tying him to the bars with his lead rope. 

Ivy 
Ivy studied Pheonix's saddle. She remembered a bit from when one of her foster homes had horses. Ivy grabbed the saddle, but when she tried to put it on, Pheonix stepped to the side.

Storm
She saw Ivy having problems and went to the stall. “Here, I’ll swing it up for ya” she said. She took the saddle and swing it easily onto him. “I’ll do the cinch cause he tries to bite when you do it” she explained to Ivy while swiftly doing it up, popping Pheonix in the nose when he tried to bite. “You ever used a Western breastcollor before?” She asked, holding up the breastcollar that was outside his stall. 

Ivy
She shook her head. "No, I haven't."

Olivia
She nodded in thanks, grinning at Jasper and putting her hands on her hips when Storm exited. "Temperamental, eh?" She silently made it her goal to have the horse like her. She gently rubbed his neck, and he gazed at her with a nonchalant look. "You've got a gorgeous coat," she mumbled half to herself, marveling at the liver chestnut color and the strikingly white markings. She worked her way up to his head, gently petting him. Finally, she reached his forehead. She lifted her hand and settled it on his nose. He huffed, and she thought for a moment he was being sarcastic. Could a horse be sarcastic? Could a huff be sarcastic? She didn't know, but the thought made her giggle a bit. She went and got a few brushes.

Storm
“Alright, I’ll show you how then and next time we’ll see if you can do it with just me watching” she said shooting Ivy a grin. “So you put these buckles over here” she as she slipped into the correct place. “And then this hook goes under his front legs and clips onto the loop that’s on the cinch. And then you buckle these straps over his neck, like so” she continued. “Got it?”

Ivy
"I think so." Pheonix lifted his head, holding it high. He knew what was coming next.

Storm
“He knows” she chuckled. “You wanna try putting in the hackmoore or ya want me to?” She asked Ivy, holding it up

Billy
He finished brushing Reb. He heard Olivia talking to her horse in the next stall. “That’s a bad habit, talking to the horse” he said with a mischievous grin. “One day your gonna tell him something embarrassing and you’ll be so busy talking to him you won’t notice someone else listening too”. 

Ivy
Ivy shook her head at Pheonix. "Can I try it?" She asked.

Storm
“You bet” she said. “Have you ever put a bridle on? Cause a hackmoore is exactly the same except it doesn’t have the bit” she explained to Ivy as she held out the hackmoore for her to take.
