Once, a large pack of wolves roamed a forest. They became very successful hunters, and the pack grew quickly. The pack prospered, the largest and most powerful pack in the area... Until the prey began to dwindle. Now the Alpha is growing increasingly worried as the members of the pack are becoming thinner and hungrier, and faces the hard decision of either leaving the place the pack has resided for decades, traveling miles and miles to an area with more prey and possibly angering the enemy pack that lives in that area, or staying, and watching the whole pack starve, knowing they could have prevented it. And the entire pack is growing worried as well, pondering what they will do should anything more go wrong. Tension is growing between pack members, too, over anything and everything. And no one knows what to do.

Arlo
Arlo sat alone by the edge of the shady spot the pack was staying throughout the summer heat. He couldn't stop thinking about the lack of prey, yet he wanted nothing more than to forget it. He knew the entire pack was waiting for him to make a decision, a good decision, as was his duty as Alpha. Yet there seemed to be no good decision here.

Lertea
The stunning female wolf attempted to focus her search, sniffing for something, anything, to hunt. The hunters had failed to provide enough food too feed the whole pack, and she wasn't about to completely rely on anyone. She hadn't, however, found anything yet, and she was nearing the edge of the pack's territory. As she prepared to turn around, a delicious smell hit her. Deer. She snuck closer to it, thankful the wind wasn't blowing away her first chance at a full meal in almost a week. It would be hard for one wolf to pull down a full grown deer, but this one smelled like a young female, and would be possible if she kept her element of surprise.

Errva
The sun was low in the sky as Errva scanned the line of trees near the horizon, but the wolf knew she had a few hours before it set. She was supposed to be asking the scouts about the recent rumors of prey shortages in the Forest pack, but that could wait. She thought back to the stories she'd heard as a pup, of battles in between the River and Forest pack. Even then she'd shuddered at the thought of such pointless violence. She realized she'd been daydreaming, and the sun was slipping lower, so she hurried off to attend to her next task.

Aella
Aella stood like a statue, motionless and silent. Her brown eyes fell upon Arlo, who sat on the shady edge of the camp. She started a slow amble towards his direction, making sure she was loud enough to alert the Alpha of her presence. The white female took a seat beside him, keeping her gaze pointed at a tree in the distance. "Mind telling me what's on your mind?" Aella said in her raspy voice, sensing Arlo's tense body language.

Viper - Scout- Forest
Viper kept his head low as he trotted through the forest, searching for anything he could find to eat. The hunters hadn't brought anything back and he was starving, he kept his ears up listening for any sound that could possibly be prey. As he searched his mind wondered, thinking about what the alpha's plans where with the lack of food. Whatever the choice was he'd stand by the alpha, even if it meant venturing somewhere else.

Avril - Hunter - River
Avril was standing on a rock looking out into a clearing, she had been tracking down a scent of deer. Up until now she hadn't spotted any sign of it, the deer was bigger then she had hoped. She wouldn't be able to bring it down herself, but if she left there was a chance the deer would no longer be there. She also knew it probably wouldn't be to hard to track it down again, she sighed and turned back to where the rest of the pack was.

Zanus - Omega - River
Zanus was in his den stretching from a nap, he had slept longer then he tended. With one last yawn he walked out of the cave, looking around to see if he could find anyone that might want to play. As he looked around not seeing much activity with the pack his stomach growled, he licked his lips at the thought if a nice juicy hare or even deer.

Abelia - Hunter - Forest
Abelia stamped her paw down in frustration. She felt angry and annoyed,  more at herself than anyone else. The lack the food available made her feel much like a failure to her alpha, what kind of hunter can't track food, even when scarce? She was just about to give up and move back to the dens when a small breeze hit her with the scent of deer. The smell sent a chill through her spine, and she was off! She ran off towards the smell, it would have been a lot better if she had the other hunters with her but howling would only scare off any chance of food nearby. She began to plan how exactly she was going to take down such a beast alone when she noticed Lertea just ahead. She slowed to a stop and lowered her head, "Lerte?" She whispered.

Karos - Scout - River
Karo dropped himself to the ground by the dens and rolled over lazily in the sun. "Mmph. No excitement today." He mumbled, bored out of his mind and yet her was stuck guarding the area. Heavily disappointed, he rolled back onto his belly and looked around for any source of entertainment.

Arlo
He didn't acknowledge the light footsteps behind him, but when the voice, instantly recognizable as Aella, made Arlo turn his head. He pricked his ears up slightly, thinking for a moment about how to answer. "I can't watch my pack go hungry because of me," he finally said, his gaze drifting, lost in thought, for a moment before sliding back to the brown-eyed wolf. "I I don't know what to do, but I have to do something." He paused, then added, "No matter the consequences."

Lertea
Lerte almost jumped, which would have alerted the deer for sure. She was confused as to who was facing her, before she recognized the large brown wolf. "Abelia, right?" She said softly, and without waiting for an answer, "I found a deer," She explained. "I was about to try to catch it myself, but I could use your help, if you're willing to."

Viper - Scout - forest

Viper continued to trot a long watching where he stepped, he was to give up on the search when he stopped movement in the corner of his eye. It was deer or at least one, he crouched down as he got closer. Not only the scent of deer in his nose but two wolves from the pack as well, he perked his ears listening to them as he moved in their direction. In a low voice "a third never hurts" if it meant bringing it down quicker he'd be glad to help.

Avril - Hunter - River
Avril headed back to the pack, she planned on grabbing another inorder to bring the deer down. She just hopes it hadn't wandered off to far by the time she found someone,  she spotted a two of  the wolves as she got closer to the den. She saw both Karos and Zanus, from the looks it seemed Zanus was trying to sneak up on Karos.

Zanus - Omega - River
Zanus had seen Karos by the den, he crouched down with his rump in the air as his tail wagged. He ever so slowly approached, being careful so he wouldn't be seen just yet. His eyes where only on the other male so he hadn't seen Avril come back to where he had been. Zanus was now directly behind Karos, he slowly stood up enough to pounce on him from behind.

Phantom- Alpha- River
Phantom watched the moon slowly rising before she slipped out to hunt. she hunted better at dark, and less wolves realized she was gone when it was dark, which she liked. as she slipped through the forest like a shadow, the scent of deer drew to her attention, as did the smell of a wolf. Avril, she immediately recognized as the wolf she smelled.

Rebel- Hunter- River
Rebel cheerfully trotted along. Her nose was looking for prey, but her mind was busy planning more pranks. She went through the list of wolves in her head. Definitely not on Phantom she thought. She wasn't about to make the alpha mad, or the beta for that matter!

WhiteRose- Scout- River
Rose slipped among the trees. in the dark she could blend in to the moonbeams with her white coat, which she enjoyed. She slipped along the river that marked the boundary between River pack and Forest pack. She scanned the Forest side carefully. there was rumors that the Forest may invade, and Phantom had asked the scouts to keep careful watch of Forest pack to make sure if they did attack the River pack wouldn't be unprepared. She stood a moment watching the other side, moonlight reflecting on her white coat.

Errva
Errva slipped through the trees, feeling restless. It was somewhere in between night and day, not far past sunset, but the sun was no more than a thin line against the horizon and the moon was rising. She didn't appear to be paying much attention to anything, but she was on high alert, observing for any trouble among the pack. She glimpsed nothing but the silhouettes of dark, wispy trees and the quietly whooshing river from which her pack got it's name, and heard nothing but swaying branches, the fast-moving river water hitting the rocks, and the hoot of a great-horned owl somewhere in the woods. But her nose told her otherwise. She scented two rabbits who'd passed by here a while before, the piney scent of trees, and- Wolves. Clearly, she wasn't the only one wandering the woods right now. She noticed the smell of a large wolf, presumably the Alpha, but she wasn't paying much attention to that. She screened out the multiple different smells she'd picked up, and focused on one- Zanus. She knew of Zanus, but she didn't know much about him, just that he was sometimes a troublemaker. None of the scents interested her particularly, but she found herself turning to follow Zanus's scent. Just a precaution, in case he was planning some trick that would get him, and possibly others, into trouble. She'd just check, and step in if necessary.

Abelia - Hunter - Forest
The she-wolf perked up, and nodded vigorously. "Food has been so scarce lately, we should really grab anything we can get." She whispered, dropping down into a crouch. "I'm not the quickest killer among the hunters, perhaps you can lay down the final kill? I can chase it towards you." She whispered, peeking over at the doe with hunger.

Karo - Scout - River
The small male froze on the spot, and flicked his ears back towards his stalker. He bared his teeth just slightly and huffed. "Going for the back is the most obvious tactic." He called over his shoulder, not moving from his spot.

Lertea
Lertea smiled. "Sure, let's go." She normally was hesitant to judge off of first appearances, but she liked Abelia, although she'd never really known her, other than knowing her name. She hurried ahead of the deer, moving as silently as she could.

Errva
Errva couldn't help but smile somewhat, as she approached Zanus and Karo. She'd been worried the scout would be mad, and no doubt he was, but she had a feeling the situation could take care of itself. She turned and left, her paws lightly touching the ground only an instant each before lifting. She sniffed about curiously, only smelling prey, and the occasional wolf, some scents from days ago, others an hour or less before. She returned to the place the majority of the pack was sleeping-Probably, she mused, But maybe not. There had, after all, been a lot of wanderers tonight. But it was too fine a night for sleeping, the air was humid but cool, filled to the brim with light breezes, keeping her cool and carrying pleasant scents to her- the trees and grass, rabbits and the plants they nibbled, and her favorite scent of all, the river. She lay under some tall ferns, and lay, half asleep, looking at the moon.

Viper - scout - forest
Viper assumed they didn't hear and just shrugged mumbling as he walking away "or not take down yourselves", he decided to patrol the territory before heading back to the den. He moved into a smooth lope, ears perked for any odd sounds that would indicate an animal or strange wolf in the area.

Avril - hunter - river
As Avril was ready to trunk back toward the pack to get aid for help in bringing down the deer, the alpha's scent hit her nose. She looked in the direction of the smell and could barely make out Phantom, she made her way down the rock and header over making sure the deer still didn't see her. Once there she stopped turning to face the deer again "I was about to find someone to help me bring it down, would you like to help me instead".

Zanus - Omega - river
He back off from Kuro and moved in front of him, he went into a play bow "come on let's play". He moved his rump side to side eager to play with anyone, out of the corner of his eye he spotted Errva coming over. He wagged his tail in greeting as he continued to move his rump, "don't be a boring old wolf play" he jumped from one side to the other trying to get him to play.

Cedar - Lead Scout - Forest Pack (I used my RP example from the signups at the start of this; also I just remembered that one of you said it was dark outside so just pretend that this post was earlier that day okay)

The grass swished as the she-wolf stepped lightly through it. The sun's rays had just started to pierce the air, and dew still clung to the blades of grass surrounding her. She came to a stop, sniffing the air. A small group of spindly oak trees was in front of her, and she could see a bigger copse in the distance. The grass gave way to sand as she neared one of the little trees. Spanish moss hung from its branches. Deer droppings lay scattered near its roots. Deer, she thought. There are deer here. She trekked onward, maintaining a steady jog. She still felt reluctant to leave behind her home, but she knew it must be done. Prey was scarce, and nothing could change that. The least she could do was to try to find her pack a suitable new home.
After a while, a feeling of unease began to set upon her. Not because she felt threatened by anything, but because she was all alone in the middle of nowhere, far away from any of her packmates. That usually wouldn't be a problem, considering she could hold her own, but times were growing hard, and she wanted to be involved when they made the decision - the decision to leave or stay. Despite her duty as a scout, the dusky she-wolf couldn't shake her feelings of utter disgust at leaving behind the territory that her pack had fought so hard to keep for this long. Being so far away from the others unnerved her for the simple reason that she feared they would decide to leave it all behind without her input first. She knew that it would be a while before Arlo came to a conclusion, but still...
Shaking her head dismissively, she trekked onward for a few more strides before stopping again. Anxiety swamped her thoughts, despite her efforts to shut it out, so she turned around and headed back the way she had came. It would take a while to get back to the pack, but at least her mind was cleared.

Abelia - Hunter - Forest
Abelia hunkered down in some bushes, her brown coat allowing her to blend in nicely with her surroundings. She stared ahead at the lone doe with hungry eyes, but forced herself to look away momentarily to glance around for her current hunting partner. She wait silently, her tail twitching every now and then while she impatiently waited for some form of signal. It's been awhile since she has gone through the thrill of stalking her next meal... properly at least.

Karo - Scout - River
"Not now, pup. I am on duty... obviously." Karo rolled his eyes out of impatience. He stood up, and shook his pelt out before making a move to move on ahead. "The pack's safety is much more important than playtime." He let out a small scoff at the mention of it, almost as if otherwise was a completely ridiculous idea.

Lertea
Lerte waited until she was completely camouflaged, hidden from the deer's line of view, then nodded quickly to Abelia,  signalling her to go, and hunkered down in preparation. She was ready to grab the deer, and more than anything, she was ready to eat it!
