What is your dream horse like?

#101113 Posted on 2017-04-14 21:54:33

If this were a perfect world where you could have the horse of your dreams what is it like?

O kay! My dream horse (I have too many) would be TB/Percheron cross, bay w/dapples, gelding, eventing, I would have owned him since birth. He would be willing and loving and he'd be the kind of horse to stick his head out of the stall door and nicker when he sees you and just place his head in your hands and fall asleep next to you. He would try his heart out when you're riding him and everyone falls in love with him. Ooh! Just thinking about him just makes me so happy. My new goal in life is find him.

Breed, color, and discipline don't matter much to me. It's aaaall about personality. I drool over a puppy dog, sweeter than sugar horse that follows you around and gets you out of dumb decisions. A best friend. Preferably I find him/her in later years so my most memorable times will be with him/her. It's my dream horse, so I guess I can switch up height and such, lol. Whatever my max. height may be, I want the horse to be compatible to it. Once again, in my later years when I've stopped growing so I'll never grow out of the darling. xD Breed doesn't matter to me. Obviously I have my favorites, but when it has that personality I'm looking for, I don't care if it's the ugliest horse made! Lol Althouughh..a bit of champagne or cream wouldn't hurt..maybe some funky markings, as well ;)  Must be nuclear fall-out proof so I'd never have to worry about an offish obstacle on a trail. I'm a BIG worry wort. So big you'd think I was a tumor...my current horse hasn't helped that problem, either..that's another story :') When it comes to gender, don't mind either. Yet a gelding would be favorable. I'd name him after my favorite dog, (And, in my opinion, best dog ever) Buddy. I'd name it Buddy if it was a mare, too xD A sweet old Quarter would be absolutely ducky. Could it be immortal, as well? I mean, this is a ''dream'' horse we're talking about here, after all. Gah, your dream horse being immortal..if only that wasn't a dream :/

As said above, personality is my favourite part. However, if I had to choose colour and all of that, I would have to go for either a piebald/skewbald or a grey. Breed-wise, I love Cobs and Thoroughbreds, though I'd be fine with pretty much any breed. Gender doesn't really matter. As for discipline, either a dressage horse or a happy hack. When it comes to personality, I look for a bit of a cheeky horse, one that will teach me lots and challenge me. I don't mind plods though (I seem to be the only one who can tolerate them).

Currently, my "dream" horse in real life is Stan, since he's a chestnut and white Cob who is super responsive but challenging as well! Not to mention being incredibly cute haha.

my dream horse would be a tall Friesian mare, pure black, that I could do trick riding on. or a tall blue roan Arab mare for trick riding & barrel racing.

I currently own my dream horse!
He's a purebred Arabian; 12 year old, 15 hand gelding out of Baske Afire. I do bareback and tackless flatwork, jumper, gymkhana and (soon) trail. His barn names are Alfredo Sauce and Alfie, and his show names are (English) All Afire and (Western/Gymkhana) I can't decided between "Neat and Complete" or "Straight From Egypt." Alfie has been shown at Scottsdale (a premier national Arabian horse show) as a 4 and 5 year old, and came in the top 20 both times for Hunter Under Saddle. When I got Alfie he had only done flatwork. Since getting him in late September 2016, I have taken him over a 1'3 cross rail, lunged him over a 2'6 jump, gone on a few trail rides, and done some gymkhana stuff successfully. He's everything I love in a horse! The picture below is him as a 7 year old.
*not me riding - it's his breeder and previous owner*

My dream horse is the horse I own now. He was my first horse ever and taught me everything. We started in Western but moved to English and learned jumping and all the sorts. We never showed though. He's just a hobby horse x) And he LOVES trails! My parents got him for me when I was 12 (he was 13) and I still own him to this day! He will be 24 this year. He's a morab gelding and even for being an old man, he has a ton of get up and go left in him. Unfortunately he has asthma now so he's retired. But I can still putter around on him every once in awhile.

I don't really have any recent photos of him on my computer.. but I found these-
Taken on his 18th birthday teehee

Not sure when this one was taken.. a few years ago at least

I think if I ever own another horse in the future, it will have to be another arabian cross. I just love arabian crosses! Not too hot headed, but a lot of get up and go still XD

My dream horse... turned out to not be my dream at all. Forever, I've wanted to raise my own weanling. Finally, I was given the choice to fulfill this dream. I sold my riding mare (can only ride one) to allow me this dream (yes, I know I'm crazy lol). Anyhow, my original dream was a Quarter Horse, Appaloosa, or Paint filly, with lots of flash. However, amid my search I started thinking about an old Arab I loved and how I would love to have another. So I posted in an Arabian facebook group to see if there were any breeders near me. A few responded to my ad, but most were way above the price range I was wanting to spend on a weanling (Arab or not). So I got talking with one breeder about a breed lease, everything sounded great but I decided I'm not in the place to do that.

So I actually went to look at a cute little AQH in my town, and offered to put a deposit down the next day and pay her off the end of the month. Great deal for the breeder right? Nope, she refused to take it and goes on to tell me that she has another person looking at her... Ugh.

The next day I'm at work and I get a message from the breeder I had talked to about the breed lease. She just had a pure Arabian colt just born, and was willing to sell him to me for my price range. Well... he's a bay, markingless (MAYBE a like half sock on a back leg, won't really know until he shed out) colt. Not at all what I'm looking for.

However, I agree to drive the SIX hours to come meet her and him. He was probably my only chance to get an Arabian foal. Well, I met him/mom and I just fell in love. Also played with his half brother and then met his sire. One of the most calm, docile stallions I've met to date.

So, needless to say I put my deposit down on him. Hoping to get more pictures of him, but this is from the day I drove down, he was two days old in this.

He's going to be registered as CCA Mayo My (My Oh My) as he's a Cinco de Mayo baby. But he's be affectionately known as Cruze.

My dream horse would probably have to be a Brumby crossed with an Australian stock horse.

Something not too tall, not too stocky with just the right amount of everything to be a well rounded horse suitable and hardy in any climate (Hot or cold). Maybe something with a bit of that wild feathering, I dont know.

There are too many colours that I like in both of those breeds. I would probably just have the ideal personality and any colour I get is a bonus, especially if it is Grey, black, buckskin or palomino. Having said that I do love me a bay or cheeky chestnut.
