How Much is Too Much?

#92285 Posted on 2017-02-10 13:36:10

Hey guys, so I've got a question. How many horses is too many? I want to see how many horses other players have. And how many breeds do you all have? I'm coming up on 200 horses with 6 breeds and I'm thinking of adding a 7th (paints or tbs).

So what do y'all think?

psst- choose TBs; they're underrated imo

I have around 40 horses (not counting my spares), and space for 60 horses. I have 4 breeds, but I plan on getting rid of one... so I'll either have 3 or add a new one to make 4 again :X
(the breeds are TBs, Chincos, and Shetlands; Arabs are the ones I plan on ridding myself of once I meet my goal)

It's honestly just all about what you can manage. How many horses do you have time to regularly show/take care of, and how many can you afford to keep, etc.

There are plenty of us that have way more than you, so I wouldn't generally say you have too many. xD I have 342 and that definitely counts as too many for me, especially now that I'm back in school and don't have time to show about 3 or 4 days during the week. I technically have about 5 breeds on hand but am only actively using 3 of them.

I have soon to be 230 horses on this account, probably all breeds. I have a division of mixed horses I grab from the rescue for "farming" purposes.
Then plus another 75 Shetlands on my spare :D

Do I have time for any of them?
hahahahaha no

I have 114 horses between my 2 accounts. I only keep 20-30 unlocked at a time because that's all I have time to properly care for. I think I have 12 breeds. Basically I collect horses that will do well in shows and have good confo, and when I have enough of a breed to start a breeding project then I do. So far I have 2 breeding projects going, Andys and Paints.

I have 119 with room for 125. I currently have 3 breeds - Clydes, GVs & Mustangs. I know some people who have less & some who have more. As mentioned above the real trick is how many you can comfortably take care of in a day. By "comfortably", I mean how many horses until you start feeling likes it's a chore & dread doing it. Since the whole point of EV is to have fun that's what you have to focus on. If you can handle 1000 horses of all breeds while still having fun then go for it! Find what works for you & enjoy your horses!

I feel much less like a hoarder now XD I've got my 180 and find that I have time to finally train them all, lol. I feel like I'll end up with little bursts of every breed, they're all just so much fun!

But @ SueHeck - that's a good idea. I feel like I see so many pretty horses that I'll just leave and never do anything with but collecting them until you have a project seems like a good way to fix that.

@ Raptorfang and Valzed - I see that, having time to keep up horses and actually enjoy doing it is important, otherwise you'll always just avoid it (I dread training).

I have 386 total on this account... Not all are active though. Many many are. So long as I can afford it and I can lock some while I play with others, I will probably keep expanding as my balance rises.
