Not feeling it!

Do you ever plan out a new breed, get it started and just go "I'm not feeling it" after?
I purchased my foundation TWH yesterday and today I'm just like " I don't want these anymore."

Ugh I want a new line with a purpose. My Lipizans and Trakehners are already mostly towards the goal of "have awesome horses". I want to start a breed and have like a goal for them. Like "only have horses of this color" or something!

Are there any breeds that may need active breeders but you wouldn't think they would?

Shetlands need more breeders, or so I've heard.

They have nearly every imaginable color and coat combination so you could say. "I'm gonna breed only At Stetlands with Tobiano markings" if you felt so inclined.

I know that the Appaloosa breed is pretty saturated with horses and breeders, but not so many that I would be interested in buying (if that makes sense). I myself have been with them for a while. I only know of a few solid breeders actually. I am really digging the plane jane roans and large spotted blanket types so I think that is what I am going for now :P

They have so many different color combinations and variations of white patterns Im sure you could specialize in something you really like! :3

I have the exact same problem. I can't tell you how many times I've purchased a bunch of foundation stock only to dump it in the RC the next day.

I just picked up two foundation Shetlands this morning. They're the rarest on the game currently. I'm not a huge pony fan, but I figure at least I'm contributing to something this way.

I was looking at Shetland but I am just super not a fan of their art.

Notori;

I was actually really looking at Appaloosa' yesterday but with how many pages of horses there were I couldn't be sure if it was all active or just oversatured with low quality horses.

What are the popular specialties for them? Western and Endurance?

I have appies in endurance, western, show jumping, and a few in dressage. Lol I may change disciplines on a few stragglers now that it will move the stats around to make them all the same or split between two disciplines.

If you go to TOWN and check out Statistics it will give you lots of wonderful numbers on the breeds and disciplines and levels. It might not help to explain if there are breeders required for a certain area, but it might help you get an idea where more stock and interest is needed. I used it when I returned after the code revamp and I had to switch over all my Lusitanos.

Some quick suggestions

Akhal Tekes - racing
Morgans - driving
Welsh Ponies - show jumping

Hope that helps you out with your choice.

edit just looked again and wanted to add that the Chintoeague's are kinda cute too and looks like that breed could use some love.

Morgans are more popular in show jumping and western, though there are some driving/dressage/racing Morgan breeders out there.

Welsh Ponies are mainly show jumping/some western but I've a personal favourite for driving myself.

Chincoteagues have always been popular in show jumping and endurance so if you're looking into those...

I have show jumping Appies myself but I think western and endurance might be more popular or sj is on the rise? Don't keep tabs on it really, I always confuse them with the Paints which is western and endurance for the most part.

Thoroughbreds also need some love in terms of needing fresh blood, there's a lot of tbs with the same old pedigrees these days and it's making them boring. Clydesdales also need some love in the driving speciality. :c

Clydesdales .... annoy me with the way their colors display on here.

Maybe if I can stick in the game I'll pick up TBs again, but I did them for soooo long before haha. I would be starting from store lines so none of my horses would be ready for months anyways.

For some reason I just can't get into the pony breeds? I'm not sure why. I look at them and I'm like 'eeeeeeh',

I have the same feeling about the Dutchies I started - I sort of don't care anymore, but now I'm stuck with them. :/

we could use more show jumping appie breeders!
and I'm always looking for more dressage Arabian and Racing tekes from good lines :)

I picked Arabians as my main breed because of their limited colors (bay, black, chestnut) and the small amount of modifiers (grey, sabino, rabicano, and flaxen). the limited options make it easier to focus on a specific color (for me it's anything but bay!) while still seeing some variation in individual horses.
