Summer Scavenger Hunt (interest?)

i know we have done this before a lonnngggg time ago but i want to do a contest that involves everyone ♥

i am wanting to start a summer scavenger hunt contest, basically i'm thinking of making this a site wide scavenger hunt but welsh pony members don't have to pay to play and a small entry fee would go to the prize money pot. members that don't want to scavenge would hide images on their page and these would have to be active members that would be on the online list/or post in the forums frequently so we could find their page :D then the player would take a screenshot of where it was found on the page. then when the player gets all of the items on the list then they message me or when the deadline comes to the player with the most items wins.

images would be of ponies on the beach, seashells, beach towl/ball, etc.
prizes would be donated and could be art, horses, items, evd/evc.
i would want this to start sometime in june so interest and signups would have to happen pretty quickly. and if someone wants to help me that would be great as well (:

Though unfortunately June is a busy month for me so I'm not sure how much I'd be able to participate.

Oh dude scavenger hunts are the best. I ran one before and it was SUPER fun to organize and have participants in. Mine was of course organized around poor Merlin having to find all of Arthur's things, but having one "signature" on all the items made them easy to spot. Also having clues to the places which items were hidden was really neat. They were so fun to come up with with the players on what they're known for.

Are you expecting people to sign up before hand? or having open signups as long as the contest runs? I'd think you'd get more people with an ongoing registration, though that might require raffle-style prize distribution if you're planning for more than one winner(which works fairly well actually if you've got good prizes!), I find an incentive to get first(prizes for 1-2-3), and then a chance at cool stuff for everyone promotes more activity from people who won't necessarily "win". I think I used a rewarding method, where if you found a certain amount you got x EVD and x tickets. I think I probably still have my old notes.

ETA: I'm totally a go for donations if you want them xD
