Chincoteagues

#3376 Posted on 2016-02-16 11:41:36

So I recently have gotten into Chincoteagues after coming out of hiatus for the recode and I gotta say: the art is exactly how I imagined the horses in the Misty books to look like. ♥ So definitely enjoying them. I have pretty much all store bought or rescue horses at the moment, so low conf and stats, but hopefully with careful breeding, especially with good studs, that'll change. :)

At the moment, I'm wondering if colors were added for the recode, with GVs, or if they're pretty much the same as before. I notice most EC horses dumped at the RC are bay or chestnut (with or without gray); at the same time, Chincos come in everything but leopard complex. So are most of the other colors rarer and, if so, which are least common? I imagine champagne and seal brown are particularly uncommon.

Anyway, I've managed to snag two tobianos (black and graying chestnut), a roan (graying bay), a sabino (graying bay), a palomino, a rabicano (chestnut), and a grullo. :) Enjoying the variety.

Who else here breeds Chincos?

i'm really considering getting just one pair.
i ADORED the misty books as a child, and they just call to me with the adorable new breed art.

i honestly have no idea what the old EV had in terms of color options, but they now come in any color with any modifier except appaloosa. i'm so tempted to spend my credits on a flaxen pangare ♥

Edited: I have no self-control and just made a mare and a stallion. I'm actually not a fan of how tobiano/overo looks on them now, so my two are solid colored and rabicano/roan. i debated splash but i dislike blue eyes :P

I've got a herd of 50-ish Chincoteagues. I picked up some customs so I could get some of the new colors, but most of my herd is from before the recode. They're not perfect, but they've got potential. In a few generations, I think I'll have a pretty strong herd on my hands.

I love the way even the most basic colors look on the recode.

Champagne is new for Chincoteagues, and I think silver is, too. Possible pangare, because I don't remember seeing that in a Chincoteague before the recode. Sooty and flaxen aren't new, but they work/look different than they used to. For new patterns, there are roan and white.

I'm working on a line- the art is PERFECT and I got a Misty vibe from it too! I'm currently trying get started, but I'm excited because the colors look great and the patterns are more realistic. Not many Chinc breeders, but hopefully it'll open up more as more people recode!

I've still got one boy leftover from the old ev. I used to breed Chincos back then. I don't like how white he is. I wish it would go greyish per year of age of the horse instead of 'oh he's 7 now, let's make m white'.(I'm willing to sell or stud him to you guys)

That's cool, Freewill Evolution. ^^

I'd be willing to buy your stallion, Megan Sparrow. Unless you'd like to keep him as a stud for everyone to use.

I love Chincos! I have a bunch of babies locked up right now because I wanted to wait until I'd bred all my pairs and then see what the recode brought my way ♥ I'm super happy with the art and can't wait to see how my babies turn out. Just waiting for one youngin to age up so I can match him to another 3 year old before unlocking.

I love the Chincos. Not necessarily the most accurate representation, as they are technically horses and not ponies, but adorable as anything. Being a native Virginian and vacationed in Chincoteague (and very nearly convincing my mother to bid on one of the auctioned foals when I was little...sigh), it's a little disappointing that the breed in the game has genes that the real life horses don't. But oh well.

I breed Chinco's at the moment but am sad to say that i will be stopping them. I do feel that they are just not as accurate and could maybe be more 'horsie' looking. All mine are up for sale at the moment so feel free to stop bye :) And does anyone know of any other colors that may be rare?

Vos, out of curiosity, which genes are wrong? I know we can't exactly get the art changed, but I know Abbey wants the breeds' colors to be as accurate as possible, so you could start a suggestion post for having the Chincos have more realistic genetics. :)

Also, sorry to hear that, Bopper. I may have to pick up a few of your horses then, if they're jumpers.
