Base Stats?

#278035 Posted on 2025-03-29 22:10:19

Tried looking for what this is but couldn't find anywhere that explained it.. What exactly are "base stats" written on horse pages? I thought it would be like, what stats a horse is born with or created with, but I just bred and got this foal (second ivory gold champagne I've been blessed with from the breeding pair 8D ) and the base stats are-

STR: 8
SPD: 13
AGI: 10
INT: 73
END: 80
ALL: 184

And the stats he was born with are-

STR: 9
SPD: 18
AGI: 12
INT: 98
END: 122
ALL: 259

I would have thought the base stats would be 259, since that is what he was born with
(hoping those tables above have copy pasted properly.. didn't really want them to paste as tables but it did it anyway lol)

base stats are the permanent, unchanging stats your horse has forever.
birth stats are those extra stats, they are a bonus the foal is born with that depends on the parents' stats and the foal's own base stats.
so when you convert a horse's discipline, the base stats always remain the same. but the birth stats can be changed and will shift over to the new discipline. birth stats act the same as stats gained from treating and showing.

this can be applied to the double conversion method to fix NSS stats when a foal grows up. so using your foal as an example:
STR:     8
SPD:     13
AGI:     10
INT:     73
END:     80
ALL:     184

STR:     9 <-
SPD:     18 <-
AGI:     12 <-
INT:     98
END:     122
ALL:     259

your foal has some extra birth stats not used for endurance, so some extra Strength/Speed/Agility that totals to 8 NSS. but since these can be moved around with discipline changes you could first set him to say Western:
STR:     9
SPD:     68 <-
AGI:     12
INT:     148 <-
END:     122
ALL:     359

now he's gained 100 extra stats from setting the discipline, though you'd probably gain much more if you do all his foal training.
so then you can switch him to endurance:
STR:     8
SPD:     13
AGI:     10
INT:     127 <-
END:     134 <-
ALL:     359

and now not only have those 100 western stats been erased and placed into his endurance stats, but so have those extra 8 birth stats. double conversion of course does not affect the total stats, it just "cleans" up the NSS that the foal was born with and places them into their discipline stats.

you can read this page to see how base and birth stats are calculated, and there's this calculator which really helped me by just playing around with it. sorry if this was really long-winded but i hope i was able to explain at least a little lol!
