What Canvas size do you use?

#275886 Posted on 2024-11-02 12:34:24

I'm curious to know what other people use in terms of canvas size when doing digital it. I'm usually working on 1080x1080 but have been wanting to work on something a bit bigger for story-based artwork (Ima cry in the process but it's going to be worth it)

So, question stands, what size do you guys use?

I'm currently trying the size of 3600x2880 for this drawing I'm working on

well, it depends, i mostly use smaller canvases. For tags i use 300x300 pixels or 1500x1500 pixel so that they are easy to resize. For character sheets I mostly like to use square canvases, like 1000x1000 exc. If I were to do large art, I might do 1920x1080p since I googled it and the chrome wallpaper for the new tab page is that pixel dimensions but that is a lil random lol.  I mostly like to do simple numbers such as 3000x3000 and stuff like that. also, your sketch is coming along beatifully! ^^ thanks for listening to me ramble lol ( also my font switched and I cant get it back so sorry if you its bothering you because its bother me XD)  wait I think its back to normal!?!??!

For large art I try to do 1000x1000px and up. Tags almost always just keep to 150x150px. Not sure what program you use, but in photoshop, when working with huge canvases such as 3000x3000px, it is suggested to also up the resolution number. I'm not sure what number to set it at though. Default is 72, I usually set it to like, 200 or so if I'm working on a huge canvas. I can't exactly remember the reasoning, I think it just make the quality nicer

@Nala
That's smart I make things harder on myself and stick with the 150×150 or 150x500 for tags and sigs without resizing. And thank you!! This is the first drawing im doing based off a world/story I'm working on. And no the font doesn't bother me however if you where trying to fix it, it didn't work out xD

@Siren
I use ibispaint, I avoid new programs or programs that have a learning curve only for the mere fact I do learn slower then probably most xD
