Went riding yesterday

#26012 Posted on 2016-04-02 16:44:58

Weather's been getting better.

I don't really want to ride because Reno currently has nasty skin issues, but we're getting him back into shape. I'm going stir crazy not being able to ride...

As a side note, I'm also planning on starting to go bitless with my boy. Though I'll be getting a Micklem Multibridle, since they're the only bridle that's designed to be completely friendly to the anatomy of a horse's head. Regular-styled nosebands put unnecessary pressure on the major nerves, causing discomfort and even numbness of the lower portion of the face (reason why many horses rub their noses on their legs after being ridden; they can't feel their face due to the noseband), also normal nosebands trap the sensitive flesh of the mouth between the leather and the protruding teeth of the upper jaw.

Gah skin issues. I know all about that! Coco has had sweet itch for at least 5 years since ive had him (he had it when i bought him) so ive been dealing with that for awhile now XD thankfully it has been a lot better these past few years though!

And yay another fellow bitless person :D actually I do believe the bridle ive bought isnt a lot of pressure on his nose. The nice thing with this bridle, I can transform it from the regular bitless bridle you normally see, to a side pull, with no problems. It has been designed to do that :D I dont really think that would be too much strain around his nose band. my boy seems to really enjoy the bridle ive purchased. My sister's horse does seem to do that head rubbing thing though, so i may just mention that to her next time i see her!

Last place he was at totally let him go, when we agreed that since I couldn't make it up often they could call the vet and farrier on a normal regular basis for things he needed. Nope. Cleared up some major rain rot over the winter and now we're dealing with really dry, dandruffy skin and hair loss. He'll get over it.

I'm gonna be real here. Had a good few doses of amaretto, so I'm a little "happy" atm. Here is the official video for the Multibridle. It explains everything about how the bridle was created and how it helps, if it is of any use to you or your sister. Honestly the only thing I don't like about the video is that it shows near-improper use of side reins and improper head carriage, but that really has nothing to do with the piece of tack itself XD
