     "You are the right filly for this. If you won't believe in yourself, who will?" Vinn practically had to yell the last bit over the gate into Snow's ear, because the gate began to shake, signaling they would be brought up soon. As soon as Vinn saw the track ahead of her, she shot out of the gates and lurched herself toward the finish. Maybe not to Vinn's surprise, she saw the perky ears of Snow beside her and excited. She checked her breathing one last time and pushed closer to the rail, right where she liked to be. Vinn stretched out her nose, just for the fun of it, and rocketed past the pole signaling her finish. She slowed and shook out the excitement, and turn to Snow, who appeared to be excited with her timely finish as well. "That- was a nice run."

     Snow trotted in circles, apparently not very tired after her short run. "Yeah. That was very nice. You did really good, Vinn!" She cheered her on. Snow's rider made her halt, which she wasn't very happy about, and gave her a good pat on the neck. Snow picked up her hoof and pounded the ground. She shook her head to get all the flies off and looked back at Vinn. 

     Vinn realized the rider didn't quite suit Snow's liking and made sure that wouldn't happen again. Vinn nickered and exclaimed, "Watch this." She trotted past Snow and purposely rubbed into Snow's shoulder, and while Nia and the rider were distracted, stole a large lump straight from the back of the rider's pocket. "Silly human- wearing pocketed pants with a wallet while you're working? Who hired you?"  Vinn circled back around the front of Snow, waving her prize in the air. This caused a giggle from Nia, and Vinn snorted in delight. Keeping the wallet far from anyone's reach, Vinn began talking seriously again. "If you can do that in a race Snow, you're bound to win." Vinn tired of the annoying rider jumping to reach his wallet and disposed of it in a mud puddle. "Perfect."

     After awhile Diva turned around in her stall sticking her head out. She watched the two mares race, and she wished she could be out there with them. Though, she knew that wasn't going to happen. Shortly after, Alaina opened up Diva's stall and led her out with the lead rope. Alaina led her out of the stable and to the paddock. Diva limped slowly into the paddock, and went straight to the oak tree. Alaina shut the gate, and sighed watching the weak, sad, injured, tired, and depressed mare. She left bad wondering what she went through to spook like that. After a minute or two she walked off to work on some important stuff. Not that Diva wasn't important.
     In the meantime, Diva laid down by the oak tree. She sighed and eventually fell asleep. She needed it a lot. The mare hadn't slept in over 24 hours, and she was exhausted. The mare kept getting nightmares of what happened the night before, and kept waking up. Eventually, she did sleep the dreams fading away. It felt nice to finally rest and close her eyes.

     Snow snorted in a mocking way as her rider tried to take his wallet back. She backed away and nickered loudly at his deflated look when he saw his now dirty wallet. "Nice one Vinn! That'll show him" She pretended not to notice as she stepped on the rider's foot with her hoof. "Thanks, I'll be sure to keep that in mind. And, that was very fun. We should do it again."

     Diva woke up hearing the commotion on the track. She looked in that direction watching the riders and the mares were doing. She wished she could join them, but there was no absolute way she would or even could. She could hardly walk. The mare looked around the stables seeing what else was going on. Not much, but there was a stallion along the fence in the paddock near the paddock Diva was in. She paid no attention to him, and closed her eyes once again to fall asleep.

(I feel like we need a stally in here lol)

     “We should- his face was priceless. Maybe he’ll think twice about being so unprofessional next time.” Vinn let out one last nicker, said goodbye, and Nia pulled Vinn away to work in a round pen for a while. Vinn needed to work on her footing, and Nia picked up on that. The two spent a while in the round pen before heading back for a cool bath, and to eventually be let out in the pasture. Vinn thought she ought to let sleeping Diva do just that, so she occupied herself with one of the grounds new dogs. When that started to get boring, Vinn moved on to look for Snow to plot funny tricks on the next unsuspecting stablehands.

     After about an hour or two of rest Diva woke up. She felt a bit better, and not as tired. She looked around again noticing Vinn in the paddock. After a couple of minutes of looking around, Diva positioned herself to get up. This was the tricky part, but she managed to get up again. The oak tree where Diva was at was by the back part of the paddock where there was a road behind the fence and some trees.
     Diva was spooked when there was a quick flash coming from behind her. She reared only a little still weak, only to land on her injured leg. She neighed painfully and looked behind her seeing a small group of strangers. The mare turned around and tried to limp away as fast as she could away from them.

     Vinn noticed a group of people slowly approach Diva, and Vinn took off to warn her- only to not quite make it in time. These darn people will not leave a horse alone, good grief. They’re here for a picture... I might as well give them one. Vinn trotted the rest of the way up to the group of people as Diva stumbled away and Vinn nickered innocently, then stole a man’s camera who’d apparently come to close. Vinn took a good look at the camera and dropped it just out of reach in her side of the fence. Vinn trotted away, thinking. What a shame, that really was a nice camera. Pests. Vinn went up to Diva to make sure she was alright. “Diva, you okay?” Vinn snorted. “Such pests, those people are.”

     Snow had noticed as well. She nickered in a joking manner when Vinn had thrown the camera on the other side of the fence. She trotted to the group of people and stood in between them and Diva. She stood tall and proud, giving the people looks that clearly meant 'Back off if you don't want these teeth on you, I'm not afraid to bite.'

     After getting a far enough distance Diva stopped she couldn't go any farther. She was still a bit spooked when Vinn approached her, "O-oh yeah I-I'm fine," she said. "What do they want with me?," she asked looking back at the group. 
A moment later she then looked back at Vinn, and sighed.

     Snow was sure to keep the humans in their place. When one of them tried to step to the side to get a look at Diva, she stepped on their foot with her hoof and scared them into taking a few steps back when she threatened to bite. "That's right, you get away from her, you hear! You step one foot forward you'll know how it feels to get kicked by a horse."

     Diva looked back watching Snow. No one has ever done anything like that for her. She turned around and slowly and hesitantly limped back there. "Snow it's fine lets just get away from them alright?" she said once she was beside Snow. She looked at one of the humans and snorted angrily in their face before turning back around and limping away hoping Snow would follow. What is it that they want from me? she thought.

     Snow copied Diva's motion and walked slowly beside her. "These pests never know when to give up, do they. Don't worry Diva, I won't let them get anywhere near you. All they want are pictures and money, they don't care about your feelings, really. Don't pay any mind to them. How are you feeling, any better?"

     (Nia)
     Nia saw the all the commotion in the pasture, but the photographers were gone by the time Nia reached the three horses. “You guys really need to get away from those people- and I need to figure out how to get them away. Come with me for now...” Nia attached leads to the three horses and brought them slowly to the middle of the estate, and then to the stallion runs that were closer to the pond. She shuffled around some of the stallions and deposited the 3 fillies in an empty run, where they would be far from any outsiders. “You’ll all be better off here for now.” Nia went back to what she was doing, leaving the fillies to explore the run.

     “Did you see the looks on those people’s faces when Snow went up to them- I bet they thought they’d leave with no heads. You showed them, Snow.” Vinn snorted with delight and went to examine her surroundings. When she got to the far side of the run, Vinn noticed a colt training in roundpens. “Hmm, I didn’t realize there were roundpens- and this many colts- on this side of the property.” Vinn rambled on like usual, talking to herself.
