Ello members! I have been away for quite some time. My old conformation herd is not doing so well in the nss area, even after I converted them each twice (and spent lots of credits). How does one go about pricing horses to sell these days?

Well to be honest, I guess now that there's more higher stats in horses, people don't really see a reason to have to price their horses as they did back then. Now, as I said before, their markings, color, and patterns with the added lower nss does add more onto the horses price. But I haven't really start playing daily until all this quarantine happened, so I have no clue on how things had been back then. If that makes sense... Have an older member explain it . they'll probably do better. And plus, many people get money from doing art more than horse selling, so I think that adds onto the fact of lower horse prices.

I think it depends greatly on what you are selling and what kind of demand there is for that breed/discipline. Some people care about clean lines and some people don't. Some people want only short generation lined horses. I tend to sell my 2nd generation Gypsy Vanners anywhere from $50k to a little over $100k. The ones that carry cream or say silver obviously sell on the higher end of that. They all have 60 or less non specialty stats and majority have all goods in conformation.

I don't think it crashed from a stat view. Stats became easier to get resulting in the old "high value" horses decreasing in value. You can get to a 1k stat horse now much more easily than you could in the old version.

It's possible I'm setting a bad example here - majority of my horses are in very low demand due to their specialty/breed combination, so I sell only those which I don't really want due to their confo or when I need to reduce the herd. I'm not in bad place when it comes to funds and I ultimately care more about the fact that someone takes them off my hands and free space in my stables than that I get a good price for them. That's why if they're below 700 stats I usually put them up for sale for the price of tack or just a little more. If they're trained or won shows or have desirable genetics I may incease it by 2 - 6k. And even then, they rarely sell before few weeks of being put up for sale. If I were to sell a horse with very nice genetics, overall high confo or just very high stats, I'd have to think about a much higher price too.

I just slap 30k on anything I'm selling :'D If it doesn't sell by age 10, I keep it for stud or brood with a 3k fee. But I'm too lazy to see if I could get more on the ones that go quickly for that price and to stubborn to lower on ones that don't sell :'D

As a long time player of the game, the current pricing of horses is a further study in frustration.

So I'm coming back after realizing and seeing what some newer players or most players do. And some things that I used to do when I was a newer player, and currently do with two of my horses; - First, usually some newer players go out and mass buy horses they see as pretty or have high stats. Now with that, they run out of money within a day or two. Currently the player doesn't have much money to go and buy treats to help with preferred specialty stats, so they go buy what seems to be a cheaper option; cubes or with they go with whatever treat they have on hand. Which raises nss and I don't think that they know that many players prefer low nss. - Second, if the player has bought a horse as a foal they usually choose the completely opposite of what the horse had been bred to do. If they are above level 6, they cross-breed the specialties which also adds to the higher nss. They'll also go mass breeding and sell the foal for either higher then their worth or lower than their worth. What I've seen is that they breed from the day they turn 3 and continue. They also place the horse at stud and brood for low prices which then equals the horse having A TON of foals, mostly the stallions. - Third, this sorta adds onto the second part, all it is is that the player may convert the horse to a completely different specialty than what bred for. And to add more, with the cubes, they see that the higher the other stats are the better the horse will do in shows. Now, personally I've seen some horses with stats all over the place actually do good. But I see that on THIS FORM horses that have lower nss are starting to do better. Now for my own breedings, I am currently trying to do the same as Rancho. Mostly in my Andies and Clydes. Most of my Andies and Clydes have less than 30 in each nss, which is great and helps, while the other horses that have more than 31 in each nss have an X after their name(my QHs nor Trakes have that cause they have high nss). I'm trying to lower the nss in the QHs and Trakes, which is a little harder. I do believe that a horse having maybe 5 or 6 foals, maybe up to 7 or 8, is completely fine. I want to breed my horses at around 14, 15, & 16 then wait till 18 and 19(aging tomorrow). I currently have two of Rancho's horses and they, for some reason can't seem to beat THIS BOY. Now I haven't shown my horses this whole week, just schooling to gain stats, and also to help me gain more money lol, but even when I did they couldn't beat him. *this last part went a little all over the place, oops. Sorry if it doesn't make sense. **I also just noticed the price of cubes when up from when I joined. I sell them for $6 - $10 per use. Now it seems hay cubes go $400 for 10 uses and sugar cubes $200 per 10 uses.

Coming from someone who has been away for like 4 years, it's absolutely mind blowing seeing horses in the 1,00-2,000 stat range. It's crazy how much things have changed over the years!
