How to price horses now?

#229114 Posted on 2020-10-17 10:17:49

HOLY SMOKES! How does one even get horses that high!? That's amazing.

Like you all are saying above, treats like peppermints aren't highly desired anymore so all stat gain needs to be with treats that support SS basically (and training). To get stats over 2,000, are we talking generations and generations of work?

Stats over 2k I've reached in 4-5 generations. Foals over 2k stats at birth then quite a few more generations.

@ Alchemy, ya its amazing seeing some of those stats on the Andalusians! Those stats take years of breeding, like maple said, to get to.
I've been working with my Appaloosas for a few years now.. and I'm excited to be expecting to breed my first 3000 stat foal, before Christmas!  Takes a lot of hard work and dedication.. which is why the whole pricing thing can be an issue. When people have worked so long and hard on breeding up their stats ( with low nss).. They won't be willing to part with those horses for low prices.

Hiya! :)
I breed Andies and it's taken me over almost a year to go up 2k stats (I guess I'll consider myself lucky- I thought I'd only be up 1k by now!)

My highest stat horse (https://www.equiverse.com/horse.php?id=1081190) right now is a 62-hundred something, which I was so happy when I achieved over 6k. And then... I realized my NSS could be quite a bit lower. It seems as though it's just one thing after another!

I struggle with pricing my horses too... I feel like I should do the 1k per 100 stat thing, but at the same time, I feel like I should bump it up a grand or two because of their 90+ confos. And then I feel like that's just way too expensive- because I don't see how some of the newer players could even afford half that.

Maybe one day I'll figure it out! :3

Pricing is difficult as everyone places a different value on their horses. I think it's easiest if you have a look at what else is on the market and consider the desirability of the horse you're selling- i.e are others of the same quality and stats easily accessible price wise or overpriced? How many of the same standard and discipline of horses are on the market? Do they share a lot of the same lines or have completely unique lines? Does it have a common or desirable colour for the breed?

1k per 100 stat is a super low way of pricing imo. I would at least use the foundation creation fee as a minimum value for a showable horse (unless it's worse than a foundation lol) then add on whatever extras you might fancy, i.e 5k for every 10% conformation over 50% or 5k per flaxen gene.
