I was just curious as to who all chooses to only enter horses into riding schools, over showing. Or who does a mix of both? What helped you make your decision? :)

I actually do both- my Miniature Horses are showed and my Shetlands and Chincoteagues are riding schooled. That's because I raise Minis for stats and the others for color, so the higher stat gain in shows is preferable for my Miniatures ♥.

I do both also. My school horses are my slow but steady earners, plus it gives me a chance to have breeds and/or colors that I love to look at but don't want to breed myself. My other horses are ones I show to gain stats and often more money than riding school. I do put them in riding school when they are in lower parts of their levels and not capable usually of winning yet.

I do a combination. When I'm trying to build stats or my bank account, I go with riding schools because I get more money from them across the board. Shows work when I have a bunch of horses with low non-specialty stats and good tack. And shows are easier in some sense, but I feel like riding schools do more to build stats most days. Right now, I'm just doing riding schools. It doesn't matter a lot to me, so long as my horses build stats so I can focus on breeding for confo. Eventually the stats will get there, and so will the conformation, as well. I do have a few that are too high in NSS, and riding schools benefit them more than the shows do, as they aren't competitive. The next generation will be better, so long as I keep building specialty-only stats.

I only school my sale group on occasion when I have too many of the same discipline competing together, I'd rather my keeper group got the benefits over the group I'm selling. Otherwise it's showing all the way.

My primary breeding program horses are shown only. I do have horses that I buy because I like them for whatever reason. I dont intend to breed them so I just use riding school.

I do mix of both - I show horses which are relatively close to level up and I send the rest to the riding school. It's a nice way to build up stats. :)

I only do riding school, with riding school you can be sure you're gonna gain EVD and stats for the horses, lol.

I show almost entirely -- any of my horses that have over 60nss or are a new group of Foundations that I already have many horses in a particular discipline will be in Riding School. :)

All Shows all the time! I use the riding school for retired horses since they can no longer show but still are able to hit the schools. I like points, and winnings, and the HOF, but mostly I really like the odds of getting those 10-20 stat nights!

Thank you all! You all bring up great points! I used to love showing exclusively and my horses seemed to do well, but now it seems like the riding schools are doing better for like 90%+ of them, so I am torn on what to do. It could be that I just have too many competing with each other in the shows, and each can earn their own in the riding schools. May be time to split my herds.

I always used to show mine, but I've been away for a few years and all their tack has mysteriously vanished during my absence, it's going to cost a fortune to replace it all and I can't be bothered anymore.
