What's the highest priced show you'll enter?

#221372 Posted on 2020-04-22 08:58:39

I have a sliding scale of prices that I charge.

Novice $25
Local $50
Regional $75
National and International $100

But I'm finding that it's really hit or miss at those prices whether or not I can get 5 entrants--and I don't care about wins if there's no stat gain to be had. So I'm curious, what is the max everyone will pay at any given level?

If you autoshow, are you autoshowing cheapest (I generally do lowest entries)? If you hand show, do you not enter shows that cost more than $X?

Thanks for the input,
Sonoma

Personally I don't like National $800-1k shows because I don't make much from the purse in general but I just Random Autoshow so I don't go out my way to avoid certain priced shows.

I'm too lazy to pick through everything individually!

That being said if I notice a certain grade (any grade tbh) is $800-$1k I just make some of my own shows a bit cheaper & enter my horses into those instead.

That being said on my main acct I will enter higher priced shows in the SJ discipline because that is a more competitive discipline & my horses have more chance of doing well in those shows as opposed to the disciplines I have on this acct.

Sorry that wasn't much help at all really!

I do a sliding scale too, +$20 for each grade. I tend to do alright with shows, but I also only tend to make extra when I need them or there's empty spots to fill while I'm looking at the page. I use autoshow on random to show.

I think as well people miss a lot of the shows because of the default search max fee being set to $50 and it never gets changed as it's assumed to be the highest fee.

Looking at the developmental roadmap it looks like we will be getting an increase in show earnings, hopefully that'll increase show entries for the higher fees. c:

I hand show. My preference are the most expensive shows because they bring most cash, so 100EVD are my first choice, but if I see more expensive show with less than 5 participants and 20EVD show above 5 participants and they both are supposed to run more or less the same time then, with heavy sigh, I choose the 20EVD one.

Cheapest as possible. As I can create my own shows, if the only shows created and available are priced 100 I create mine priced 20 or 30, unless the ones already created have enough horses for stats gaining (5+) including the horses I will enter. I mean, if I have 2 I2 horses and the shows available are 100 and they have 3 horses entered, I´ll pay it. If not, I´ll create my own shows, cheaper.

About the autoshow, it depends. Firts I see what I have, and then select highest entries, cheapest, random, soonest... Depending on what I am looking for.

Generally, I prefer entering my horses in more expensive shows simply because I can get more money in the end. I will say though when I do make my own shows the pricing pattern is a lot more arbitrary. I actually hand show all my horses simply so I can have more control on what shows their entering, and where I place them is usually a combination of how much time is left until the show runs and the price.

If there is one show @50 dollar entry price for say Local that runs in 1 hour with 2 entrants and another show @ 20 dollar entry price that also runs in 1 hour with 2 entrants, I'm going to enter the 20 dollar one. Sadly I've noticed that people seem more inclined to go for the cheaper shows over the more expensive shows if there is less time left until it runs, and since overall I care more about if my horses will get stats versus how much money I could make, I am going to try and optimize my chances of my horses entering shows with 5+ entrants.

$100 per show and I cringe at having to enter $20 shows. The more expensive the better for me

I do - 20, 35, 50, 65, 80 now.  I used to do 20, 35, 50, 75, 100 but dropped it so it would stay consistent.  I don't avoid entering any priced show (random auto showing) but I used to aim for $50+ shows when I was hand showing, to avoid overcrowding.

i try to stagger the pricing for shows, similar to what has been posted. Sometimes I forget to. :(

As far as entering, I generally do a mix between autoshowing and hand showing depending on the discipline and level and don't particularly pay attention to how much I'm spending. I also tend to prefer more expensive shows when I hand show. Most days I'm making a profit this way. if I notice a horse is within two or three points of leveling though, I will definitely make a point to enter the more expensive shows and get super happy if I see a $100 show with over 10 entries in that case.

I don't avoid higher priced shows, but since I'm in Europe I tend to enter in shows with not too much time left and a lot of the time these $100 shows don't get to 5 entries and so I enter in cheaper shows.
If they both have enough entries I'll go for the most expensive shows (or the ones that run first if I don't feel like waiting for the results for too long).

Quite honestly I generally make shows with the standard $20, but that's simply because I forget to change the fee haha

I also hand show and don't at all mind entering above the default, as long as they have enough entries for potential stat gain.

I enter anything under $50 cause that's the default :P

My horses do fairly well so I'm not at all worried about over crowding. Endurance isn't the most popular discipline out there (from what I've seen) and I've found that if I enter higher priced shows, they're often not filled enough and my horses don't get any stats. If there are no <$50 shows, I don't usually check if there are higher priced ones for that reason. Not worth it to me and my horses.

I autoshow on Random(used to do cheapest, but had too many horses in similar grades so Swapped it to make it easier to spread out entries while still going quick xD).
I have always tried(as long as I don't make a mistake) to make shows at $20, $30, $40, $50 and $75.

I wouldn´t mind entering $100 shows if they were enough entrants for stats gaining. If they are not full enough I go for the cheaper ones.
