"Oh. I was looking for a job as well. I need money for my family."ย

Cherryย
It was suddenly much too hot in the kitchen. Cherry wiped some sweat from her forehead and quickly ducked outside, standing out on the porch. A nice breeze was blowing, and it was much easier to breathe out here. Cherry leaned on the post holding up the roof of the covered porch and shook her head, resting a hand on her stomach. Better get used to this, she thought to herself.

Kitty
"That's very kind of you, but I can pay for the damage myself." she glanced down at the mare. "She should be able to get me back all right, not that I know it'll do any good," she added ruefully. She looked at Outlaw somewhat sheepishly, "I ran out on my first day at work."

Outlaw
She glanced at the girl with respect. "And you did it to warn us, which I'm grateful for. If they don't take you back there's a job here, either helping Edelweiss in the kitchen or riding if you prefer. Not that what you've seen of the place so far would make you want work here." She mused with a short laugh, letting Phantom begin to wonder back to the house at a walk.

Kitty
She smiled at Outlaw's offer. "If they don't take me back, trust me, I'll do anything to get out of this dress," she chuckled, shifting the cumbersome skirt.ย

Outlaw
"They are a bother ain't they." She agreed, glancing down at her worn jeans and the black chinks she wore over them. She never had been able to stand skirts or dresses. She reined Phantom in outside the corrals and slid off the mare, still holding the saddle, which she carefully placed on the hitching post before pulling off Phantom's hackamore and letting her into the pen with other two mares. She then turned back to girl again. "You wanting to leave immediately or you want to come get some of Edelweiss's cookies and a drink first?" She questioned while looping the hackamore and reins over her shoulders.

Johnny
Johnny shifted awkwardly in his seat as the conversation lulled into silence. "Um... Do you have some milk? I want to feed the kitties." he asked Edelweiss, refering to cats that were pulled from the barn.

Kitty
"I mean, if it's not an inconvenience, ma'am," she started, accidentally forgetting to use Outlaw's name of preference in her attempts to be polite, "cookies sound pretty nice about now."

Outlaw
"Course it ain't. I offered it didn't I?" She replied bluntly. "You can put your mare in the pen there," she nodded towards a pen, "and then go on into the bunkhouse, right through to the back you'll see the open door to the kitchen." She said, ensuring the broken saddle was set securely on the rail then walking to where she'd lugged all the tack from the barn and dumped it next to the bunkhouse, and thought of where to put it all now while staring down at it.

Edelweiss
"Of course, I'll go grab some from the cellar for you to give them." She replied, hurrying to the side door leading out of the bunkhouse as she stepped out and closed the door behind her she almost bumped into Cherry. "Oh I'm sorry ma'am, I didn't see you there!" She apologized with a smile, then upon looking closer at the women, asked, "Are you alright?"

Cherry
Cherry gave the girl a smile, dropping her hand quickly. "I'm fine. Just needed a little fresh air, that's all." Cherry looked at the sunset (is it sunset? we're gonna say it's sunset I have no concept of time) for a moment. "It's really beautiful here."

Edelweiss
"Alright, if you're sure." She glanced at the sunset as well and nodded her agreement. "It is nice, isn't it? I've seen some prettier places, but those where at places thatย I think only Outlaw and birds knew about." She said with a slight laugh.
(yah we'll say it's sunset)

Cherry
"Bridgewell had some beautiful sunsets, up on the hills. Paul and I used to go look at them every night." Cherry sighed. "I miss it, sometimes."

Edelweiss
She looked at Cherry with sympathy. "That must be hard, coming all the way over here." She said softly, thinking back to the little house she'd been raised in.

Cherry nodded. "It is, sometimes. But there's not much left to stay for now."ย

Edelweiss
"Hopefully you'll like it here. The people here are rather harsh and cold, but they rather needย to be to make it here." She saidย solemnly "I'd better go get that milk for the cats before Johnny starts wondering where I am, but I'm always here if there's anything you need to talk about, Cherry." She said with a smile before going over to the door leading into the underground cellar, and descending down the stairs into a rather large space with wooden shelving after lighting the lantern kept at the door. She got a jar of milk then ascended the dirt stairs, closing the door and blowing out the lantern before replacing it on it's hook by the door and hurrying into the kitchen once more. "Here's the milk, Johnny, and I'll grab you a bowl to put it in quickly too." She said while already finding a bowl then handing the jar of milk and bowl to the young man.
