Only The Strong Survive

Vanessa
After taking a moment to examine each gun in turn, she turned back to Outlaw, her favorite of the three still in hand. "I like this S&W." Pausing for a moment to admire the gun, she remembered something. "Hey, who was that man by the horse pen?"

Outlaw
She put the other two guns back then took a second Smith and Wesson and its holster, along with two boxes of ammo, and handed them to Vanessa. "There ya are" she said, then closed the cupboard. "That is Zachary Fairchild, aka Zach, aka whatever his real name that he doesn't wanna give may be. He kinda just showed up like you. Everyone staying here got here by those methods it seems. Cept me course." She replied, pulling another two cots from under her bed and setting them up a little distance apart from each other and Cora and Ahanu's cots. "Pick one for yourself" she added to Vanessa as she went to another cupboard and pulled out blankets and pillows, dropping one of each on both new cots. "I may need to look into expanding.." she mumbled to herself, surveying the 4 cots now in the hut besides her and Auberon's actual beds.

Vanessa
As she fastened the guns in their holsters around her waist, she felt a sense of security. She sat down on one of the cots and slightly readjusted the blanket. "How'd you get here?"

Outlaw
She gave a short chuckle. "I got sent here for a break. Some break, ain't it?" She shook her head again in amusement, then focused her emotionless eyes on Vanessa. "Need anything to eat? Or drink?" She questioned.

Vanessa
"No...?" she responded, the end of the word ending as more of a question than a statement as she tried to piece together Outlaw's interesting response. Then, remembering that she was human and humans have basic needs that need attending to, she changed her answer. "Actually some water would be nice."

Outlaw
She went to her makeshift 'fridge' and pulled out a canteen of water, which she tossed to Vanessa. "This is all food and water. Help yourself whenever" she informed Vanessa, motioning to the 'fridge' and several other cupboards. She went and sat down on the edge of her bed, removing her hat to gingerly feel the wound on the back of her head. Still bleeding, confound it.

Vanessa
"Oh my gosh; you're injured!" she exclaimed, noticing. She started rummaging around looking for some kind of material to fashion a bandage out of. "What happened?"

Outlaw
She watched Vanessa start rummaging around looking for something with bewilderment, although she remained stone faced on the exterior. "Don't bother. It'll stop. Eventually.. Maybe.. Perhaps.." she trailed off, placing her hat back on her head instead of digging herself deeper into a rut. "I uh, may have slammed myself over the head. With an axe. Cause I needed sleep. And I couldn't." She offered as an answer to how she'd got it.

Vanessa
"I guess that's one way to try to treat insomnia," she quipped. "Ah, here we are," she said proudly as she pulled out some dusty fabric, a cloud forming as she shook it. Coughing, she momentarily went outside the hut where she poured some of the water from the canteen over the cloth and wrung it out, shaking it to free it from the last few drops of water. She went back in and presented the now clean fabric. "Lot of good it'd do to have you bleed out in the middle of the apocalypse," she muttered sarcastically, offering the cloth to Outlaw.

Outlaw
"Exactly" she agreed to Vanessa's quip. She blinked a few times at the dust the cloth raised, then watched her go out on the porch. She hesitantly accepted the cloth and held it one bandaged hand, looking at it. She shifted her gaze back to Vanessa to question "What exactly am I sposed to do with this?"

Vanessa
"Here, let me help." She gently removed Outlaw's hat, setting it on the bed beside her. She folded the cloth into a triangle and placed it against her head. She wrapped the two ends around to her forehead, crossed them and then wrapped them back around and tied the ends together snugly. She then turned her attention to Outlaw's now very bloodstained hat, a testament to how much the wound had been bleeding.

Outlaw
She shook her head slightly. Oh dear, not another Auberon. She thought to herself. She leaned over to pick up her bloody hat. "It's a head wound. They always bleed like crazy." She offered to Vanessa, seeing the girl studying the hat. She carefully placed it back on her head, thankful it covered the bandage.

Vanessa
She grunted her acknowledgment. Taking a deep breath, she noticed how still and peaceful the air was. "Is it always this quiet around here?"

Outlaw
She pondered a moment before responding. "When someone or the other is arguing with another person, yah, pretty much." She decided, glancing at the door as the panther clambered up the trees and entered the hut. The big cat launched itself onto her bed and flopped down beside her, head butting her cheerfully until she pet it.

Vanessa
She gave a bit of a chuckle. "Yeah, I know what that's like. Who all lives here?" She asked, keeping her eyes on the panther.
